AMY'S POV
I ran as my feet would carry me, which, embarrassingly enough, was a short distance before one of them caught me. He gave me a slap that made stars appear before blowing his bad breath directly in my face. "Now you're going to regret doing that, b*tch." "Please, I don't know what you're talking about. Just let me go." I whimpered, knowing there was nothing else that would save me at this moment. If anyone passed at this time, they were most likely to run the other way than get involved. I know I would run. "Why did you run if you have done nothing wrong?" I wanted to argue that I hadn't done anything except exist. Technically, it was my mother they had a problem with, but I was sure they were not going to listen to technicalities in the moment. "Please, let me go. I think..." "Well, you won't need to think anymore, doll. We're going to do them all for you." He hit me again, and he used his strength to keep me up while he delivered blows to my face. I cried and pleaded, but I might as well be dead. "You need to be obedient and be honest." He snarled before his hand froze in the air. "Please." I begged again. The other one came to my side and yanked me to his side, grabbing my bum in his large palms. In that moment, two things happened. I took note of his canine, and I knew I was doomed. My mother had sold me to a werewolf, and two, I was going blind from a sudden bright light. Was I dying? I wondered, and I sighed in relief. Maybe it was better this way. If I died, this would be all over. I didn't struggle, letting myself fall, or maybe the man let me go. When my bum hit the ground, I wondered if the afterlife was supposed to hurt this much. Or maybe I was supposed to be in pain forever. The next thing I heard was the painful groan from the two men. There was a third figure. I blinked my swollen eye to get a clearer view of what was happening around me. The sudden bright light was from a car, and a tall man in suit was beating the goons up. He didn't stay long enough for me to see his face. My savior. It was too good to be true, but I was in no position to question anything right now. I wondered if I had fallen into a universe where I had a savior. My swollen eye throbbed in pain, and I shut it, letting myself go. The next time I woke up was to another bright light, but this one immediately made me shut my eyes. It was so bright that it hurt. I whimpered, and that was enough to bring someone running to my side. "You're awake." She said softly, and I opened my eyes again, blinking to adjust to the harsh lighting. "Yes, I am. Where am I?" "You're at Glass Hospital." I panicked internally. Glass Hospital was the best and the most expensive hospital in the city, and I could not help but wonder how I ended up here and, most importantly, how I was going to pay the f*e I was sure I had racked up. I didn't have to wonder for long before the nurse filled in the blanks for me. Apparently, I was brought in by a man, plus he had even paid for my treatment. I wondered if I would be paying for this some other way. "Nurse, when do you think I can go home?" "As soon as you fill out your discharge papers." "How can I get in contact with the man that brought me here?" "He didn't say anything about that." "I'm well enough to go, right?" "Yes, you've been cleared by the doctor." She said slowly, as if she couldn't understand why I was in such a hurry when she told me that the man paid for me to stay for as long as it took for me to be okay. "I would like to fill them out now." I would like to stay too, but I had to get back to the house as soon as possible. Twenty minutes later, I was collecting my purse from reception and flagging down a taxi to take me to my house. I ran straight to my room and checked the hole I dug under my tiny dresser. I sighed in relief when I found out that the wads of cash I left there were sitting pretty undisturbed. When my mother saw me in the kitchen later that day, she raised a single brow, and that was all the reaction she had at her daughter not spending the night at home. For the rest of that week, we both avoided each other like the plague. I went to my work and visited my admissions portal a lot while my mother bought her drinks by herself from the money I suspected she got from selling me off. Exactly a week after my mother tried to sell me off, my admission letter arrived through the mail. I ran home and hoped my mother hadn't seen it yet. It seemed like my luck had run out again. My mother was sitting in the middle of her bedroom with my burnt admission letter. "Ma!" I howled. "What did you do?" "There's no escaping from me, child. You must think you're so clever, huh? A st*pid omega like yourself getting into medical school. You're never going to become a doctor." She sneered, and for the second time in a month, my world fell apart. I turned to leave when she delivered another blow. "You might want to check your dresser. You can't hide my money from me, you st*pid f**l." I was too stunned to even give a reaction, so I stood and cried. Eventually, I knew I might kill her if we both stayed here, I left for my boyfriend's house. Neil would know what to do.LIAM'S POV The maids were cooking dinner when I got home, so I had them step aside to cook her a special dinner. I set the table for two and carried her down the stairs. I also made sure the kids were preoccupied so they wouldn't disrupt us. "You're really working hard for your forgiveness, aren't you?" She giggled as I poured her a glass of red wine and uncovered the food. "I was stupid. I shouldn't have been mad at you, and more importantly, I shouldn't have invalidated your feelings when you said you felt harassed." "That's all?" "I'm not sorry I ruined his company. He had it coming, and the only reason I made him recover was because of his employees. Otherwise, I would leave him out to dry." She regarded me for a beat or two. "Fair enough. I was just surprised because I had never seen that side of you before." "I'm a very jealous man, baby. Irrational, too. That part of me doesn't come out because no one who knows me would dare flirt with my wife." "Neil thought it was a
AMY'S POV The next day, the news of Neil's company bankruptcy was the highlight of the business world. How could Liam do this over a simple argument? Did he know how many people he put out of a living with his senseless actions?I was almost at the restaurant when I decided that this wouldn't do. I need to look him in the eye and have him explain what he had done. I would not be able to focus on anything anyway until I had resolved this. "Take me to my husband's office." I ordered."Yes, Luna Arlington." I seethed all the way there, still finding it hard to believe. Before he had stormed out yesterday, he asked me what I thought about the reason I didn't tell him about Neil and if I truly felt like I was being harassed. Me?I was too stunned to give him an answer yesterday, and he had had the audacity to tell me it was because I enjoyed the attention. Me? I was too busy and too content with my life to seek attention elsewhere. Mavin and Theo were more than any excitement I could eve
AMY'S POV Perhaps, it was not in my best interest. I shouldn't have given him my phone. I wasn't thinking. I didn't get the chance to tell him about Neil yet. To be honest, I was waiting for when I would get a good handle on it so I could finally tell him about Neil. Immediately I heard the ping of a new text. I didn’t have to ask him what it says. It's from Neil, and he has said something untoward. "Amy, what the fuck is this?" Called it. I should have known he would react like this. Honestly, it was my dumb luck that of all the times that Neil would choose to text again, it was when the phone was in my husband's hands.I thought he had finally gotten the hint that nothing would ever happen between us. That was why I had been bold enough to give him my phone number, not that I was guilty of anything. "It's not what it looks like, darling." I tried to be blasé about it, but with the way his jaw was clenched, I could see that it wasn't going to fly with him. "It's not what it look
LIAM'S POV Now that Amy was back from her work trip, I could finally stop working from home. Not that it was a bad thing, but I could barely get anything done from all the noise Theo made. He was more demanding than when his mother was here. I knew that if I told Amy that her son was crying more than usual and it was probably because he missed her so much, she would be on the next plane home, so I kept it from her. I only called after he slept or before he woke up in the morning. It would have been easier too if he had started school, but the new session was still two months away. She was supposed to use only three days, but that was no longer possible because the company she was meeting was flaky as hell. She ended up spending a week and a day there, but it all worked out because she got a good deal. Miraculously, Theo became her sweet little angel, as opposed to how much he disturbed Mavin and me. Even Mavin shook his head at how manipulative he was. The next morning after sh
AMY'S POV I was part excited for the trip because it felt like I was being an adult for the first time in my life. I was contributing to the economy, and it was a great feeling. However, as the day for the trip drew closer. I remembered every scenario that could go wrong in my absence, and I didn't anticipate how nervous I would feel. However, I sucked it up and started packing. It was too late to get out of going after I already promised Maddy that I would do it. It wasn't even that important. We both decided to build a shopping mall together. It was near the restaurant, so running it would be easy. It was also a way for us to bring more revenue in so we would stop depending on Liam for everything. If we wanted, Liam could find partners for us, but Maddy was convinced that we needed to strike out on our own. Liam had also introduced someone for us that was managing our accounts before Maddy decided that she would learn to do it and then took it off his hands. Fortunately for m
AMY'S POV Liam didn't mind that I spent the rest of my date coming up with different ideas for our restaurant. I didn't even tell Maddy yet, but I was still happy to tell him everything that we could do to the restaurant. The next day, Maddy was over at the house, and she was in the nursery watching Theo. The two of them got along so well. I think I would have been jealous if I wasn't his mother. When I entered, Theo was babbling something to Maddy, and whatever she said in response must have been so hilarious that he burst out in laughter. That was a sound I would never get tired of hearing. It was melodious and full of life, or that could be my mom bias speaking. "Wow, you didn't tell me you speak baby?" "I don't, but this little monkey and I have our own special language, don't we, my sweet boy?" She turned back to him, and I was surprised to see him nod. "Are you guys going to teach me?" "Come on, Amy, we can't tell you our secret." I pouted, and they both laughed at me.
