LYRA’S POV
“Congratulations you’ve been accepted into Silvervale Academy” My heart raced as I stared at the screen of my phone, seeing the mail, a squeal escaped my lips. I have been dreaming of this day. Getting accepted into Silvervale Academy was something I had always looked forward to. It was one of the best werewolf academies in the country, and everyone scrambled to get accepted, but only the elite had access to the school. I could hardly believe my eyes. Jumping out of bed, I ran out of my room, wanting to share the news with my parents. I met my dad sitting at the coffee table, reading the newspaper. “Dad,” I squealed. I got accepted.” I stood in front of him, wanting to show him the email I had received today. He looked up lazily from the papers he was reading, with no trace of excitement on his face. “We won’t go through this again. I have no money to sponsor you, working to support this family and sponsoring your brother in school is already hard enough” my dad stated. My smile faltered “But dad…” He furrowed his brows, slamming his fist on the table “Don’t be ridiculous Lyra, you should be thinking of a way to support this family instead” “Why does Kaleb get to go to school and I don’t” I retorted Kaleb was my younger brother, who always received my father’s praise. He literally got anything he wanted without having to lift a finger, my family was not well off but it was obvious that he was treated better than me. “You are a she wolf, you are going to end up being a housewife after having children, so going to school would be useless” his words only hurt more. I bit into my cheeks, my father had always made his expectations clear that my younger brother’s education mattered. Mine didn’t. “That’s my own choice to make” He angrily stood up from the chair, “Stop dreaming and help this family by marrying someone rich. At least that way you can also help your brother’s status. This would be the last time we will be having this conversation” he stormed out of the room. My hands balled into a fist as tears threatened to fall from my eyes, I was delirious thinking he would be happy for me. I refused to let his words crush me. Not today. Not after I had finally done something worth being proud of. I looked back at my phone and smiled, my worries immediately disappearing, remembering that I was yet to break the news to my boyfriend Theo. Theo was the youngest son of an Alpha family, he was one of the reasons why I had wanted to attend Silvervale Academy, it was the same academy he attended. Silvervale Academy was an old, prestigious school that only accepted students of Alpha bloodlines and noble families. But this year, for the first time, they began accepting scholarship students. I had told Theo that I would be applying to the school, but he doubted that I was ever going to get accepted considering my background. I could not wait to tell him about it, I knew he would be elated, I thought about calling him but it would be better to tell him in person and I wanted to surprise him. Later that evening, I decided to go to his favorite spot. I knew I would definitely meet him there. I could not wait to see the surprise look on his face, the thought of finally studying together filled me with joy It was what we both wanted, Although he had always told me to give up on the idea of getting accepted into the academy because I was not of the elite, I knew deep down he wanted me to study there or so I thought. I stood in front of the bar, taking a deep breath, I looked at the mail once again, clutching my phone as I entered the bar, it was crowded, loud and the smell of alcohol was pungent. I looked around the bar hoping to see Theo, and I spotted him easily. His familiar gold hair catches the dim light, but the sight made me freeze in place. Macie Hale, the most popular girl in school sitting on his lap. I blinked hoping my mind was playing tricks on me. Theo’s arms were casually draped around her waist, his smile lazy and full with pride. My heart stopped beating for a moment. He did not notice me, his friends surrounded him, they cheered him, urging him and Macie to kiss. One of them laughed “So what will happen to her when you are off to Silvervale? Are you going to ditch your high school sweetheart” “Who? Lyra” Theo chuckled as he swirled his drink “She is just a country girl, our paths were never meant to cross” Everyone around the table laughed. I prayed that I had heard wrong but hearing them laugh made it clear to me. “She is truly crazy, she actually thought she could get into Silvervale” “Yeah right, like they will take someone like her” My chest tightened, they were clearly talking about me and Theo cared the least, it seems he was having fun as they all mocked me. “What about Macie” someone asked Theo leaned back, smirking. “Let’s just say I spent a lot of money making sure Macie got in, she does not need to write any exams” Macie smiled as she ran her hand through Theo’s hair. “And as for Lyra, she will figure out where she belongs soon enough” he added Something inside me snapped. I stepped forward, grabbed a full glass from the counter, and marched straight up to him. The laughter died instantly when they saw me, a shocked look on their faces. “Ly….” I immediately threw the content in the glass at Theo, interrupting him from whatever he wanted to say. The icy liquid splashed over Theo’s perfect hair and designer shirt also getting on Macie's clothes who immediately stood up. Gasps filled the room. “Crazy bitch” Macie cursed loudly trying to wipe the liquid from her dress. “Congratulations,” I smiled coldly at Theo ignoring the enraged Macie “you just got dumped by the crazy country girl”LYRA’S POVI remembered that she had been there when Kael had told his grandfather that I was wolfless.I clenched my fist, she was really despicable, trying to use that against me.Everyone looked at me with curious gazes as though they were waiting for me to confirm what Hannah had said.I sighed deeply before telling them.“She is right”Everyone started whispering among themselves once again.“But that does not mean I can’t fight” I boldly told them.My shirt was still bloody as I ignored it, wanting to get back to the fuel.Hannah stepped forward, wiping the blood from her claws like she hadn’t just crossed a line. Then she smiled, a soft, gentle smile; it was deceiving, if you ask me, because I could see through her petty acting.“I think we should stop here,” Hannah said calmly, like she had empathy.“It wouldn’t be fair to continue.”A few warriors nodded immediately.“She doesn’t have a wolf, how will she continue this fight” someone muttered.Hannah turned to them, her expres
LYRA’S POV“You are really good” one of the pack warriors grunted as he dueled with me.“Had a lot of training” I replied ducking in time and spinning my heels as the pack warrior lunged at me again.I was currently at the training ground.Seeing I had nothing to do today, I decided to join the pack warriors train.Kael had introduced me to the head of the pack of warriors. He was the one who brought me here, and I was currently dueling with one of them as the rest stopped whatever they were doing to watch us.He came at me again, swinging his fist and aiming for my ribs.I was quick to respond, as I dropped low and swept his leg from under him.He hit the ground with a grunt, rolling quickly to his feet before charging again. The warriors that had gathered around us had grown silent, their attention fully locked on the duel.I blocked, twisted, and pushed forward, feeling the familiar rush of adrenaline surge through my veins.Remembering what Kael had taught me, I knew it was a mov
LYRA’S POVAs Kael drove back to his pack, everything my mother said kept on ringing in my head. The drive back to the pack house was quiet, and Kael, who had noticed my mood, did not ask me any questions. When we finally pulled into the pack house driveway, Kael parked the car and turned off the engine.I was so lost in thought that I had not noticed. Then I heard him exhale as he asked quietly. “What did she tell you?”I turned to look at me, his voice drawing me away from my thoughts. His hands were still on the steering wheel as he stared at me with a concerned look.“She said…” My voice faltered, and I had to clear my throat. “She said the Silver Wolf killed Zurien’s parents, because of her child”I took a deep breath before I continued. “She thought they were the ones who killed her child. She believed they had taken me from her.”Kael leaned back against his seat, his jaw tightening as his eyes darkened. “That’s worse,” he muttered.“Is it that bad” I thought it would not be b
LYRA’S POVI looked at Kael, surprised.“How…?” I started wanting to ask him how he knew my mother was here, but I refrained because I didn't plan to meet her.“I don’t want to see her,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.Kael then turned to face me.“I looked into why you were crying that day,” he said gently. “You shouldn’t have,” I told him plainly.“I could not ignore it, when I realized it was a family issue, your mum reached out to me, saying she wanted to see you” he explained to me.I shook my head, I did not want to meet her.“Seeing her will only hurt both of us.”Kael then got closer to me and took my hands, holding them gently.“Lyra” he whispered “I understand that you might be hurt, but she is still your mother”“Not my real mother,” I pointed out to him.“Regardless of her not being your birth mother, she is still your mother,” he tried to reason with me.“Her husband hates me, I don’t want to make things difficult for her as it is, so it is better we don’t meet”
LYRA’S POVThe room was still quiet as Kael’s question was directed at Zurien, who replied almost immediately. “Lyra’s theory might be right, and I also think that someone was working behind the scenes and orchestrating everything”My shoulders relaxed a bit at his words, then he spoke again.“But” he continued, “that does not change the fact that the silver wolf killed my parents”Everyone listened as he spoke.“Until there is concrete proof that someone else orchestrated everything,” Zurien added, “the silver wolf remains responsible.”One of the elders nodded slowly.“What if it is the silver wolf manipulating both packs and was using everyone for her own gain” he suggested and most of the elders seemed to agree with him.Well, this took a wrong turn.It seems everyone here is adamant that the silver wolf was the cause of everything, but what if they're right?Kael’s hand still held mine, never leaving them.“We have not concluded anything yet,” he said firmly. “Blaming the silver
LYRA’S POVAs Kael spoke no one dared to say anything, the revelation of me being Zurien’s and Kael’s mate still echoed in everyone’s ears.“And anyone who disrespects her disrespects us,” Kael addedThe elders looked stunned. Some looked offended, but were scared to say anything, while others looked cautious.Kael's gaze swept across the room as if assessing everyone.“I will ask again,” he said calmly, though you could hear his voice being threatening. “Does anyone here have a problem with Lyra being present in this meeting?”There was silence no one said anything or tried to go against KaelI watched as one elder opened his mouth slightly, he hesitated, but then he shut it again. Another one shifted uncomfortably in his chair, but still no one dared to say anything. Finally, the same elder who had spoken earlier cleared his throat.“No,” he said stiffly. “We have no objections.”The others nodded in agreement although some were reluctant, but still agreed.Kael nodded, satisfied wi
