LOGINI folded the last of my clothes into the brown suitcase that once belonged to my mother, my hands shook slightly, not from fear but from resolve.
I was going to prove everyone wrong. I was going to attend Silvervale Academy not because of Theo, but to carve my own path. My heart hurts so much from the betrayal but it only made me realize that I was better than what anyone thought about me. I closed the half filled suitcase and paused, taking a deep breath. Regardless of how hurt I was, I was still excited. I was finally going to be attending the school I had always wanted to attend. I zipped the suitcase, placing it on the floor, I rolled it out of my room intending to say my goodbyes. I know my dad would never agree to my leaving but I was not going to let him stop me. I walked into the dining area, my dad sitting at the dining table, his eyes glued to a paper, with a half finished cup of coffee steaming beside him. “Dad” I tried to get his attention, keeping my voice steady, knowing what was going to come next. “What is it now?” he did not spare me a glance, grabbing the steaming coffee from the table. He took a sip and placed it back, his eyes still fixated on the paper he was reading. “I’m leaving” He lowered the paper and looked at me, his eyes met the suitcase I was holding, his brows furrowed “Where are you going” I inhaled deeply before replying to him “school” He scoffed “We’ve talked about this Lyra, I am not paying a dime for you to chase your silly dreams” “Well, I do not need it either” I retorted. His eyes narrowed “What did you say” “I worked over the summer and I saved enough money, so you don’t need to spend anything on me,” I said boldly. “It’s not like you ever cared to ask but I got accepted into Silvervale Academy” For a moment, there was silence, then he chuckled, “You expect me to believe that some elite school accepted you? Stop making things up” “It’s true, and I’m not making things up” I reached for my phone and showed him the acceptance letter, my hands trembling slightly. He snatched it, stared at it for some time, and placed it on the table. “And you think the money you saved during the summer would help you in an elite school” he was the least happy that I was accepted into the academy. “I got a full scholarship, and everything is covered,” I responded. That got his attention “You must have lied in the application or tricked someone into it” “I did not,” I stated firmly. My knuckles turned white around the suitcase handle. “You think you are better than this family now,” he snapped, rising from the chair so fast it scraped against the floor. “For all I know that email may be fake, and you want to use this as a way to walk out of your responsibilities” My throat tightened but I did not back down “I am chasing my own future” I could see he was already getting enraged. The door to the kitchen opened and my mother walked out, wearing an apron. “What’s going on?” she asked, looking between me and my father. “She keeps on lying that she has been accepted into Silvervale Academy” my dad answered clearly he still hasn't believed me. My mum turned to me, then looked at the suitcase I was holding “Lyra, is it true?” I nodded, “Yes, I got in and I will be leaving today” She smiled brightly and pulled me into a hug. I could hear my father’s footsteps storming out of the room. She drew back from the hug and wiped her cheeks, making me notice that she was crying. My mum was the only one who genuinely cared for me. She unclipped the golden necklace she had been wearing and clipped it around my neck. The small moon pendant glinted in the light. “Remember that I will always support your dreams, this necklace always brought me luck and I hope it will do the same for you” I held back the tears that threatened to fall and hugged her tightly. “I will make you proud” “You already have,” she whispered. The trip to Silvervale Academy took almost six hours, the road was through thick forest and trees. When the bus finally stopped, I stepped out and gasped at the view in front of me. It was ethereal. The gates of the academy were tall, and the grand black and gold architecture radiated luxury and mystery. The academy crest was engraved in the middle. The air felt different here, I walked into the school gates, taking in the surroundings of the school. Looking around I realized I did not know where to go, and It would be hard to find my way around here. “You look lost” I turned to see a girl dragging a pink suitcase, her brown hair was packed in a ponytail. “First day,” she asked, her smile bright and warm. “Yes, you?” She nodded eagerly “I’m Ivy, I’ve been walking around. This school is huge. What’s your name by the way” “Lyra,” I replied. “Nice meeting you Lyra, The registration office should be up ahead, come on, let’s go” I guess I was not going to get lost after all. I followed Ivy as she walked towards a building. When we reached the registration hall, I couldn’t help but stare. The marble floors gleamed under a chandelier, and the air smelled faintly of roses and expensive perfume. Several students were lined up at the counter, chatting softly. “Welcome to Silvervale Academy,” A lady sitting behind the desk said, smiling politely. “Please sign in and collect your dorm assignments.” Ivy and I stepped forward, taking turns to fill out our forms. The lady handed me my dorm keys, “room 201” “Thank you,” I said, gripping the key tightly. Ivy squealed “We are roommates. We are going to have so much fun” She seemed like a really nice person. Ivy chatted excitedly as we made our way to the dorm. I suddenly stopped, making Ivy stop abruptly beside me. “What’s wrong” she asked My stomach dropped as I stared forward. This was the last person I wanted to see. Anger washed through me.LYRA’S POV“Alan, take Megan home” Zurien commanded, his gaze still on me.I had not noticed that Alan had also been standing there.Alan pulled his jacket and threw it to Megan.Megan took it and left the water immediately.“Alpha, it was my fault, I…” Megan tried to explain but Zurien stopped her.“Take her home” he repeated to Alan.Alan held his sister, as they both walked away from the woods leaving me with Zurien, whose expression was not pleasant.“Zurien, I…” I planned on explaining myself, but he interrupted me.“Are you okay” he asked me as his gaze softened.I noticed that he was looking at my wrist.“Yes I'm fine” I assured him.He pulled his shirt off, revealing his well toned abs, then he handed his shirt to me.“You can change into this” he told me as he turned around.I got out of the water and immediately put on his shirt, with my body still damp.I felt my wolf purr in my head, as I inhaled Zurien’s scent on his shirt when I wore it.Zurien turned around when I was d
LYRA’S POV“We meet again, Megan” one of the men said as he took Megan’s clothes, pressed them against his nose, and inhaled deeply.Who the hell was this creep?“Did you follow me here” Megan growled at him.“Take a wild guess”I glanced between them.“Do you know him?” I asked quietly.“Unfortunately,” Megan muttered. The man’s gaze then moved to me.I instinctively moved backward like it was going to hide me from their gaze.Luckily the rest of my body was hidden in the water.“Well now,” he said, looking me up and down in a way that made my skin crawl. “And who’s this?”“You don't need to know, she is my guest,” Megan said sharply.“Oh?” His grin widened. “A very pretty guest.”My wolf growled softly in my head.I don’t like him.Neither do I.Megan stepped slightly in front of me.“What do you want, Rylan?”So that was his name, I really wanted to wipe the annoying smirk from his face.Rylan spread his arms casually.“Relax, Megan. We are just having some fun.”“Like I would want
LYRA’S POVI turned to Megan and whispered.“This was not the plan” She shrugged. “Surprise.” She smiled sheepishly.I looked back at the group in front of me; there were now dozens of warriors watching me with curious gazes, waiting to see what I was going to say or do next.None of them complained or asked any questions, and unlike other warriors, they did not look down on me. I was surprised that they were ready to follow my instructions. Not wanting to reduce their morale, I spoke up, despite how nervous I was, and with everyone's unwavering attention on me did not make it any better.“Alright,” I said clearly, so everyone could hear me.“We are going to begin with something simple.” My voice echoed as I spoke. “I need everyone to partner up”I did not need to repeat myself as everyone complied and proceeded to pick a partner. “First rule,” I said, folding my arms. “Strength is good, but technique is better.”Some people nodded in agreement.“Most fights are won by timing and ba
LYRA’S POVI walked into my room already changed into the training gear that Megan had brought for me.“It fits” she said standing up from the bed, where she had been waiting for me while I had changed.Megan had come into my room earlier, telling me that Zurien had told her to take me to train with the pack warriors, and she also brought the training gear with her.“It’s my perfect size” I stretched my body in it and it was so comfortable.“Alpha Zurien was the one who picked it out for you” she told me, as she walked towards the door and opened it for me “Come on, training starts soon”Was I surprised that Zurien knew my exact size, yes I was, it made me realize how thoughtful he was.I suddenly shook my head, I wasn’t going to have any thoughts about Zurien until my wolf was ready to talk, I could feel her sulking, well she was the one keeping secrets. As I stepped out of the room, Megan closed the door behind me.We chatted as we walked through the hallways, with Megan telling me
LYRA’S POVEver since I arrived in Zurien’s pack, I have been indoors, mainly because I don't want to make a scene and because I keep getting this foreboding feeling that something is wrong. So I decided to stay low until I return to the academy.I was sitting in front of the vanity and had just finished brushing my hair, when I heard a knock on the door.I paused, with my fingers still tangled in the strands of my hair, I knew who it was without going to open the door. And immediately my wolf sensed his presence, I felt how restless she was.If there was one thing I had noticed, it was how my wolf always reacted whenever Zurien was here, it was as if she could sense him from a mile away. “Coming” I said, setting the brush down as I walked towards the door.I opened the door to see Zurien standing there, and I swear the reason for my flushed look was because of my wolf.“Well,” my wolf purred lazily at the back of my mind, stretching as she had just woken up from a very satisfying na
LYRA’S POVI stared at my reflection in the mirror. I looked pale, Kael was right.I ran my hand through my hair and took a deep breath. Today I was going to leave Kael’s pack and I was relieved that I was able to help his grandmother, I just hoped they would give her the blood soon.Knowing that I was able to help, I felt less guilty, now I don't owe anybody. There was a faint knock on my door.I went to open it and one of the guards who had been guarding my room, was standing outside the door.“Miss Lyra, he is here” he simply said and I knew it was time to leave the pack.I left my room with my bags, as I followed the guards out of the pack house.Looking around as we walked, I hoped, for one last time, that I would see Kael, but he never showed up.Once we got outside, I was hit with the cool air, and a bright light coming from the sun, I squinted my eyes, trying to adjust to the brightness.I had not been outside in a while, which made me disoriented for a second. As we walked ou
