I dropped to my knees trembling, as I stared at the sight before me.

Lucy was dead.

Her body lay motionless on the ground, as people’s muffled voices filled the air.

Ivy was suddenly beside me, grabbing my shoulders, and she shook me slightly. “Lyra, hey, look at me.”

I looked up at her. Deep down I just had this guilt eating me up, was I the cause of her death?

“It’s not your fault,” Ivy tried to reassure me, as though she had read my thoughts.

There were sounds of sirens echoing in the air, indicating that the academy’s medical team and security had arrived.

The ambulance had arrived within minutes. Professors and guards pushed through the students, as they got to the scene.

Professor Lennox was among them, his face was pale as he told everyone to go to their dorms

The crowd began to disperse reluctantly.

Ivy and I took it as our cue to leave, as we left, I saw as they covered Lucy’s body with a white sheet.
