I froze.

The two boys stood in the field, their eyes darting between me and Kael. Their faces looked pale, making me wonder what Kael had done to them to make them look so shaken.

I blinked, unable to process what I was seeing. “What… what are they doing here?” I whispered to Kael who was beside me, clear enough for him to hear

Kael did not even look at me, his eyes were fixed on the trembling boys. “You’re going to train with them.”

I almost laughed. “Train? With them?”

He turned his gaze to me, and the humor died instantly in my throat. “Yes.”

“They are the ones you want me to fight with” I questioned.

His expression didn’t change “I thought you would want that”

“I mean….” He interrupted me

“That’s why you’re going to fight them.”

It seems I don’t even have much say in this “you mean like duel right”

“Not only that,” he simply said, walking past me.

His voice was flat as he walked across the field. “First, they fight each other, then the winner goes against you Lyra.”
