I'm still stunned, just staring at the card like it might bite me. Did Rafael really send this? Did he really ask me out on a date?

Is he seriously playing the gentleman card right now?

"I don't know, Ava," I mutter, my voice barely catching up with my thoughts. "I'm just as stunned as you are."

My eyes flick from the flowers to the card, then to her wide-eyed expression. We're both standing there like we just saw a ghost in Gucci.

Ava snatches the card again, rereads it, then slowly turns her head to look at me. "What's really going on? Like, how the hell did you manage to flip this man from cold-hearted Alpha to flower-sending, date-requesting Romeo?"

Before I can even blink, she grabs my wrist and yanks me inside, slamming the door shut behind us with the kind of urgency reserved for FBI raids.

"You need to fill me in. All of it. Now," she demands, dragging me toward the couch like we're about to do a full crime-scene breakdown. But I'm short of words.
