Chapter one hundred and one

DAVINA’S POV

I was exhausted from taking care of Raiden all night, but seeing him healthy and well-rested made it all worth it. As I was preparing breakfast for him, my phone rang and I saw that it was Ignacio calling.

"Hey, Ignacio. What's up?" I answered, trying to sound casual.

"I just wanted to check up on you. I was worried when you didn't come home last night," he replied, concern lacing his voice.

"Oh, I'm fine. I had some work to catch up on, so I stayed at the restaurant to focus," I lied smoothly.

"Are you sure that's all it was?" he asked, skepticism creeping into his tone.

"Yes, I'm sure. Why would you think otherwise?" I countered, feeling a bit defensive.

"I don't know, Davina. It just seems like you're pulling away from me. And with the wedding coming up, I can't help but worry," he explained.

"Ignacio, you have nothing to worry about. I love you and I'm committed to our future together," I reassured him, hoping that my words would ease his concerns.

"Okay, I trust you.
