~"A man might befriend a wolf, even break a wolf, but no man could truly tame a wolf."

The silver blade had been stabbed into his chest. The ugly man lay lifeless on the ground and in front of him was another man wearing a very long black cloak with a hood covering his head. I could barely make out his face but from the outline of his jaw and his lips, I could tell that there was a pretty face hidden by his clothes.

He stretched his hand to help me up and I quickly took it. I brushed the dirt off my clothes and checked up on Paige to see that she was alright. I could still feel pains in my throat but the dizziness had subsided. I tried to get a glimpse of his face but he hid it too well. Paige came to stand behind also looking at him with admiration and curiosity.

"Thank you sir for saving our life. Is there any way we could repay you?" I quirked expecting an answer but the only thing he did was turn around and start walking away. Puzzled by his actions I tried to catch up with him, Paige closely following behind me.

"At least can I know your name sir?" I asked but he still walked on. What the hell is wrong with this guy?

I gripped his wrist but unintentionally tore a part of his sleeves. He tore my hands from him and I noticed how calloused and warm his hands were that they sent shivers down my body. How could that happen? I wasn't even cold. There was something strange about this man. I couldn't even perceive his scent.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that."

I apologized and tried to get a hold of him again but Paige placed a hand on my shoulders stopping me.

"I don't think he wants to be thanked. Let's just go back home before we find ourselves in danger again." She scolded obviously annoyed that I was still following the man.

She listened to her this time. He hadn't spoken a word back but something about him sparked my curiosity. I wanted to see his face, know his name and everything about him. What I felt when he touched my hand, it was a feeling that I'd never experienced before. I didn't understand it and it scared the shit out of me.

~~~~~~~~~~
The Crescent castle was located further away from town. It was heavily guarded by warriors who looked scarier than my father when he was angry at me and that's saying a lot. There was a wall about six feet tall around the castle with an entrance gate. In front of the gate was a path which led to a bridge which eventually led to town. The bridge was built because of the river that passed through Boulderstall to the sea.
Boulderstall was located near the sea. There was a secret tunnel located under the castle which only my parents, Paige and I knew about. My parents weren't aware that I knew of the place. If they were, they would have had it closed by now. Paige and I used to play around the corridor that led to my room when we were eight. There were pictures of our ancestors hanging on the wall and we would try to see who could pronounce the names of all of them. While we were playing, she playfully shoved me and I hit the wall making the picture of Alpha Bodolf slightly turn. One of the bricks in the wall came out and I pushed it back in.  That was when we discovered the tunnel. It led to a secret opening in the woods which was located at the back of the castle. We never used the place but today was a special day for me so I convinced Paige to help me sneak out.
Today was the day I turned eighteen and everybody was busy planning my dinner party this evening so no one noticed my absence.
We sneaked back into my room and quickly changed our clothes before anyone saw us.
"I'm never helping you sneak out again!" Paige declared and shot me an annoyed look while trying to tie her hair in a bun. It was how maids were to dress their hair. Paige was an omega. She lost her parents in a rogue attack when she was eight and was brought into the castle where she served as my companion.
It was only two years ago that my father made her my personal maid as well.
She huffed as she struggled to tie her hair up. Paige had blonde hair and I often envied her for that. My hair had a deep black colour which didn't really go well with my pale skin.
"Here, let me help you. "I took the pin from her hands and pulled her hair upwards before fixing the pin in. Just as I was about to turn around someone barged into my room startling both of us.
"Where have you been Reika?" Kira shouted as if there was a hundred-meter distance between us.
"Why do you always do that? Do you want to make me deaf or what?" Paige who was standing next to me quietly moved behind her and exited the room. Great friend Paige, you deserve an award.
"When will you...… Oh my! what happened to your hair Reika? How can you be so careless sometimes? Have you thrown all the manners I personally taught you away?" Kira scolded while looking at me with discontent and disgust. I couldn't blame her. My hair looked like a bird had died in it.
Honestly, I was tired and didn't have the energy to argue with her. Kira was my etiquette teacher. She was assigned by my father to teach me all there was to know about 'being a proper lady'.
"I'm so appalled by your behavior. Seriously Reika when are you going stop acting like that to behaviourand grow up for once? Look at you. You're a totally disappointment to this family. I mean how could you even be Alpha's daughter…."
At this point, I had totally tuned her out. If I listened to her every time,  I would be an old woman by now.
I sat on my bed as my mind wandered back to the stranger in the alley. He felt so familiar yet I had no idea who he was. I could definitely tell he was a man because of how flat and masculine his chest felt under my warm hands. A blush appeared on my cheeks and I quickly shook my head to stop my dirty thoughts. Kira who grew tired of me ignoring her finally left the room. Upon her exit, Paige re-entered with a mocking glint in her eyes.
"Oh, the damn witch finally left. It still surprises me how you haven't lost your ears yet from how loud she screams." She teased and sat beside me on the bed.
"Oh really! Well I'm also amazed by how fast you run away, and leave me alone with her whenever she shows up."
"Don't be mad. I do that because I love you."
"How does that actually show that you love me, huh"
"You know I suck at lying. I'll probably spill the beans if she turns her attention on me."
"Well, that does make sense. I couldn't ask for an even better friend like you."
  • Alpha Reika   Fighting back[3]
    ~ReikaI was leaning against a wall, my eyes slowing closing, heading to a much-needed sleep when the sound of a distant growl reached my ears. My heart skipped a beat and I rose to my feet in fear. I looked at Arya, who had frozen in place, her eyes wide with concern.How had they found us so quickly?“Have they found us?”, I asked, my voice trembling, even though I didn’t want it to. I had to be strong!“It’s a warning,” Arya said quietly. “ It means they’re still looking for us. They’re probably close by. As long as we don’t make any noise, we’ll be okay. We need to be vigilant”“What about our scent? I hadn’t thought of it earlier but won’t they be able to trace it here.”Arya gave me a faint smile, “I’ve taken care of that. I concealed our scent with a magic potion, Eragon and I had gotten a while back.”The small sack she’d been holding!“Oh. Smart move.” I mentally smacked myself. Why hadn’t I thought of that? I was so useless. The Moon pack is still out there, searching for us
  • Alpha Reika   Fighting back[2]
    ~ReikaI hesitated, my heart hurting with the knowledge that I was leaving everyone fighting those monsters behind. I had to trust that they'd be okay. With one final look, I turned and entered the passage. As Arya led everyone into the depths of the passage, the sounds of the battle fading, I made a vow to myself, that I would find a way to end this war, no matter what it took. But now the women and children were of top priority.The darkness of the passage pressed in on me, as we followed closely behind Arya, through the winding tunnels. There was no light, just plain darkness, making it impossible to see anything. The only sense of direction we had was the formation of a straight line, where everyone held onto each other with Arya leading. As we reached the hidden exit in the forest, I paused and listened intently. The sounds of battle were distant now, but I could hear the occasional distant growls. I only hoped Vlad and Eragon were holding their own.Arya ushered everyone out int
  • Alpha Reika   Fighting back[1]
    ~ReikaAs I lay there, the warmth of Vlad’s body pressed against mine, a sense of unease gnawed at the back of my mind. The world outside the tent seemed distant, almost unreal, but I couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was wrong.Suddenly, the flap of the tent was thrown open, and Arya burst in, her face pale, her eyes wide with fear. “Reika, we need to leave. Now!”I sat up quickly, pulling away from Vlad. “What’s happening?”“They found us,” Arya gasped, struggling to catch her breath. “The Moon pack… they’ve found us and we’re outnumbered. They’re vicious, Reika!”Vlad was on his feet in an instant, his expression darkening. “The Moon pack?” His voice was a low growl, the tension in the room thick enough to cut with a knife.My heart sank. I had hoped for more time to prepare myself for this, but it seemed fate had other plans. “They want me. But I didn’t think they’d find us and this quickly too,” I whispered, my mind racing. “We have to get out of here before they….”A
  • Alpha Reika   She's Alive[2]
    A few days later, I made it to Boulderstall and was shocked by what I witnessed. The town was in ruins and men who I recognized as warriors of the moon pack guided the place. I knew this because there were many faces I’d encountered during my visits to their territory. I could capture things easily. Staying out of focus, I monitored everything that took place in front of the great gate that opened to the town. Carriages entered carrying boxes probably filled with food supplies. I still couldn’t fathom the fact that the moon pack had attacked the crescent stone back. Alpha Conri and Alpha Bodolf had been allies way before I had even been born. Surely, their friendship wouldn’t have been strong enough if a simple cancelled marriage had led to this.There was a ninety per cent chance that Reika was already in Boulderstall and had been captured. Though the chances were high, my gut told me she wasn’t. That I should look somewhere else. But where?Crouching down I tried to smell for any cl
  • Alpha Reika   She's Alive[1]
    ~VLAD~I could hear concerned voices surrounding me as I was carried from the ground and placed on what felt like a mat. Their voices were muffled in my ears so I couldn’t pick up what they were talking about. I was semi-unconscious, that I could tell since I could not open my damn eyes. I tried to recognize each of them which, was useless considering my current state. The pain was still there but, I could no longer feel the dagger that had been accidentally stabbed into my chest by the woman I’d come to care about—that too against my wishes. She was the only one I could think of at that moment. Was she okay? Had she already reached Boulderstall? And most importantly, would I get to see her again? I felt a deep ache in my chest just from thinking of that. A wet substance was suddenly applied to my wound before all hearing seized and, I blacked out again.I woke up to the sound of men talking and the clattering of plates. My stomach grumbled and, my mouth watered as my nose picked up t
  • Alpha Reika   He's Alive
    ~ReikaI made my way through the crowd until I stood in front of what had caught their attention. My body became tense, my hands slightly shaking by my sides as I stared at the person before me. I couldn't believe what I was seeing."V-Vlad?" my voice came out hoarse, my throat suddenly parched. He wasn’t dead! I couldn't explain the emotion that washed over me. Relief, sadness, I couldn’t tell but I was glad to see him. He looked well. No one would believe I’d stabbed him with a silver dagger some weeks ago. He stared back at me, his gaze piercing my soul as he came towards me. There was something in his gaze, a fondness that hadn’t been there before. It confused me. Everyone moved back, clearing the way for him as he reached me. I stood frozen before him, too shocked that words refused to tumble out of my mouth.He stood close now, so close that I could see a fading scar that cut across the left side of his face. It hadn’t been there before but it reminded me of the stranger behind
