I found it hard to sleep that night. It was much worse than I had anticipated. The gem turned out to be a metal repellant gotten from the genomes during ancient times.
It was a magical utility usually used to curse wolves, and I had uncursed myself by absorbing the gem's power. The pack members feared that I had obtained the power to curse, but within me, I knew I was just a werewolf without a wolf to its name.
"Miss Samantha, the Alpha wants to see you in his chambers." A voice crawled into the room. I never thought he'd want to see me after what had happened during my installation ceremony as his personal assistant, if not personal maiden.
"I'll be right out.".
This mission was starting to seem much more impossible than possible. When I was no more than a lowly maid, I had a chance to kill him and escape without being seen or noticed, but now it was quite different.
The gem that I had unconsciously absorbed had a scenario, and now everyone knew me well. They were all afraid of me, and any form of death announced in his chambers would automatically be charged at me.
Ryu, on the other hand, is ferocious. He'd kill me in an instant if he sniffed out my mission or suspected me a bit. In short, my chances of survival had been limited by half.
"You said you wanted to see me, Alpha Ryu," I announced, opening the door a little.
"Yes, come in," his voice came into play before the sound of a moving sword drifted into my ears.
"Why do you want to see me tonight?"
"I heard a rumor, that's all." He rose from his chair.
He wasn't putting on a shirt. His broad chest set my sight on fire. I lowered my gaze, hoping not to get entangled with his build.
"Do you know why I called you to my chamber?" He asked, raising my chin up to meet his gaze.
"I have no idea, Alpha Ryu," I said, shaking my head in an attempt to avoid his gaze.
"It's because of you," his hands trailed down my arm, giving me the chills.
"Because of me?" I asked.
"Yes, because of you." His hands rested on my waistline, moving a little bit lower to meet my ass.
"What exactly do you mean, Alpha Ryu?" I heaved.
"Call me Ryu, darling. Drop the formality already", his hands loosening my belt.
"Ryu, why exactly have you called me to your chambers?" I asked once more, resisting the pleasure I was feeling in my legs.
"It's because I need you. I want to trail every inch of you solemnly. I want you to have my head while I have yours, his lips trailed kisses on my neck downwards as he spoke. Sounds draining out of my mouth.
"Show me what you've got. Show me why you're the Alpha, the greatest and most ruthless of all," I whispered into his ears before bringing him in for a kiss. He opened up, letting my tongue explore every inch of his mouth while getting entangled with his lips."
"Maybe I should show you why I'm ruthless," his hands trailing my robe down to my ass, cupping it as he lifted me to meet him.
"Show me your secrets," I whispered into his ears, digging my claws into his back.
"There's no need for that; you'll be the one doing the telling," he pinned me to the wall with his body. Pulling my robe to the ground the next minute.
"I never thought you'd be so handsome underneath those clothes," I whispered, romancing his chest.
"Never thought you would be this sexy," his tongue found mine, and we found ourselves in a dire need for pleasure.
What has gotten us here? What had happened? I couldn't explain it. All I could say was that I was loving it.
"Do you know why I chose you as my personal assistant?" he asked, moving his head downwards. Unhooking my bra to reveal my darling bosom.
"Because I had potential?" I asked.
"Close. It's because I know you're the best person I'd ever want to be with.".
His tongue stood above my nose. Teasing it as he played with it. He sure knew how to create a foreplay.
"Yeeeeesssss," I moaned as he bit my nipples a bit. This was second to nothing, an exquisite pleasure ride to desire land.
After playing a little bit with my tits, his tongue found my vertical lips, giving it a soft but blissful kiss.
How much I loved this. I never knew having a man would be my greatest exploration yet. This needed to be done; I needed him.
"Yes, that's the perfect spot. Keep going, don't hold on, I moaned as his tongue slipped in and out. My hands kept ruminating around his hair, pushing him to go deeper into me.
"Don't stop, don't stop," I said as his tongue drilled deeper into my vertical lips. This had to be the best thing I had ever witnessed.
"Miss Samantha, wake up; the Alpha is waiting for you in his chambers.".
"What? Am I not in the Alpha's chamber?" I inquired, touching myself as I rolled over the bed.
"You're still in bed, Miss Samantha." Her voice crawled into my ears once more, bringing me back to reality.
"So it was just a dream."
"Let me guess you were riding a dragon?" Missy came to view, holding her hand out to help me rise up.
"Much more," I sighed.
I rushed out of my chambers, heading towards the royal chamber where Alpha Ryu stayed. It was dark and was definitely the best time for an assassination. Why had he called at such a time? Was he scared he needed me to come fend the evil away? If that were the case, he would have summoned Kyle.
"Ahhhh!" blood emanated from my mouth as I hit my back on the wall.
"Do you really think I would let you go after what you did today?" a thick voice echoed across the passage, sending waves of fright into my system.
"Who are you? What do you want?".
Suddenly, a large hand grabbed my neck, slamming me onto the wall.
"I want you gone."
The air around me felt thick, it was like I was trapped in an invisible storm, it's cold tendrils wrapping tighter and tighter around me. My heart hammered against my chest severally, each of my beat reverberating in my ears. Every breath I took seemed too shallow, the weight of my secret bearing down on me like a crushing force. But it was no longer just a secret—it was an accusation, a betrayal, and now it was out in the open.Standing before me, Craig's eyes burned with an anger I had never seen before. It was like he was no longer the brother I once knew, the one who had protected me through thick and thin. No, this man before me was someone completely different—someone capable of unspeakable cruelty. The rage in his eyes made my stomach churn with dread."You’re pregnant," Craig spat, his voice icy and accusing, the words falling from his lips like daggers. "That’s why you’ve been acting so... weak."I felt a cold shiver run through me. I wanted to deny it, wanted to take back th
The sound of steel clashing against steel echoed through the air, a constant reminder of the battle that was about to unfold. But amidst the chaos, a different kind of tension gripped my chest. My fingers curled tightly around the dagger Ryu had gifted me, feeling the cold, unforgiving metal against my skin. Despite the war drums pounding in the distance, my heart beat louder, a rhythm entirely out of place with the impending violence. The cold breath of fear nipped at my spine, and the icy realization of what was coming settled deep within me.Craig is here.I didn’t need scouts to confirm it. The bond we shared—one forged by blood, by history, by a past I couldn’t escape—was all I needed to know. It was as if I could feel the pull of it, faint and fractured though it might be. The chill that spread across my skin could only be his presence creeping closer. And if he came here, into Deadly Fang Pack territory, and found me standing beside Ryu, dagger in hand, prepared to fight, he w
There’s a certain kind of peace that comes after the storm, have you noticed that before—the kind that sinks into your bones and makes you believe, just for a moment, that the war is over and all you had now was happiness that you deserved. That morning, as I stood by the arched window in Ryu’s private chamber, I was wrapped in the warmth of his oversized sweater and still humming with the afterglow of our bond snapping into place, I felt it. Not the kind of peace that comes with ignorance, but the kind that says you made it through something fierce, and you’re still here. I watched the courtyard below, the dew was still clinging to blades of grass like pearls, and for once, the silence didn’t feel like a warning to me anymore like before. It felt like a lullaby. My hand instinctively rested on my stomach—not because I felt anything in it, but because I hoped to feel the baby kick some day. It was still early. Too early to feel flutters or kicks. But I knew one day I would have it ki
I woke up to the soft rhythm of his breathing, the steady rise and fall of his chest pressed against my back. Ryu’s arm was draped over my waist, his fingers splayed like he was afraid to let go even in sleep. The early morning sun peeked shyly through the heavy curtains, scattering golden light across the room. Everything about the moment felt still—like the world had hit pause just for us.His warmth seeped into my skin, grounding me in a reality that felt too good to be true. For a few heartbeats, I didn’t move. I just lay there, soaking in the safety that I used to think I’d never feel again.Once, not too long ago, I wanted to kill this man.And now? Now I couldn’t imagine waking up without him.I shifted slightly, just enough to catch a glimpse of his face. His dark lashes were thick against his cheeks, and there was the faintest smile playing on his lips. I reached up and brushed my fingers along his jawline, marveling at how peaceful he looked.“You snore when you’re exhausted
Those questions rang in my head. He was my worst enemy then but now I discovered my father was. I had fallen hard for him.“I want my child to be gentle, the gentleness I feel in you now” I whispered again, smiling in the dark, “not ruthless like the Alpha who once scared me more than death.”His fingers paused on my stomach, and for a moment, the silence thickened between us. I didn’t laugh like before. I was thinking, trying to understand something he couldn’t see.“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” he asked softly, turning his head to look at me.I forced a small smile. “Nothing,” I lied, brushing my fingers across his jaw. “I was just thinking about how far we’ve come.” But he wasn’t convinced with my response. “No, something changed in your voice. You went quiet all of a sudden. Was it a symptom? Should I call the pack healer?”My heart raced. The truth sat heavy in my chest but I couldn't let it out. That I was his enemy’s daughter. That I once came here to kill him. That I had hat
The room was dark, lit only by the flickering flame of the bedside candle. And the shadows danced along the stone walls, but I didn’t fear them. I feared the silence more—the one that wrapped around Alpha Ryu when he walked in, looking tired. I guess those bruises are still over his body but he is recovering at least he can walk now.Looking at him he was trying to play like he had no injury, he was trying so hard to look strong. He didn’t say much when he returned from the call with Lady X. Just a short nod, a whisper of “I’m back,” and then he collapsed into the chair near the window, clutching his ribs like they were the only thing holding him together.I watched him from our bed, my hand was resting over my stomach—over the life growing inside me. I had told him earlier, and I knew he needed time to absorb it. Time to be still. But time wasn’t something either of us truly had.I pushed the heavy covers off and stepped softly to him. My body still aches, because I still feel the na
