His grip on me grew tighter with each passing minute. I was sure he intended to eliminate me. His eyes hidden behind the black shades of his glasses made it worse to identify who it was.
"I want you gone," he launched his fist at me, aiming for my calves. I shut my eyes, waiting for his hit to pack a punch.
"You should be in bed by now, if I'm correct," Alpha Ryu's voice resonated in the passage.
"You don't order me around Alpha," the figure let out, smashing his fist onto Alpha Ryu.
"Maybe it's time you become a lesson to others," Alpha Ryu exhaled, grabbing the figure by the neck before smashing him onto the ground.
"You're strong, but you don't have what it takes to kill me." The figure blurted out, sending Alpha Ryu's feet back with his legs.
I could have helped, but I had to get my breath steady first. The assassin was definitely here for me, and it wasn't of lower ranking.
"Alpha Ryu, his neck. Hit his neck." I managed to converse before coughing up blood.
"How dare you, Samantha?" he let out, smashing his fist continuously onto Alpha Ryu.
"Don't talk to me, maiden, like that." Alpha Ryu pushed back, slamming his fist onto the assassin's neck.
"That's it," I stammered, watching as the assassin fell.
"Who sent you?" Alpha Ryu asked, removing his sword from its case.
"You'll never get an answer from me..." the assassin halted his words as Alpha Ryu's sword penetrated his shoulder.
"I'll ask only once more. Who sent you? Alpha Ryu turned his sword, ripping the assassin's shoulder muscles a bit.
"I'll never tell," the assassin let out, kicking Alpha Ryu’s back. He grabbed Alpha Ryu's sword, tossing it before making his escape.
"Wait here, I'll be back," Alpha Ryu grabbed his sword, chasing after the villain.
Why does the worst of things always happen to me? Am I really cursed that I couldn't help but nullify my curse with a curse?
After moments of rest, Alpha Ryu returned back. He didn't give me the luxury of time to explain; rather, he carried me in his arms to his bedroom.
He dropped me carefully on the bed, wiping my blood off my mouth.
"What were you doing in the passage at night?" his voice raised as he interrogated.
"Missy came to tell me in my room that you needed my presence in your chambers."
"And why would I need your presence in my chambers?".
"I don't know..." I tried not to blush, but my cheeks wouldn't allow it.
"That assassin is skilled in the ancient art of Tai. He's strong; you wouldn't have served if I hadn't shown up," he took off his shirt, tossing it onto his desk.
"I could have just stabbed him in the heart.".
"With your ego? Let's see what you've got. You're weak, lack fighting skills, and you're vulnerable to any attack," he growled.
Maybe if I beheaded you tonight, you wouldn't call me weak anymore. That's if you're possibly still breathing.
"You could have died out there.".
"And what do you care about? You only care about yourself according to what I've seen.".
"If I cared only about myself, then I wouldn't have saved you from that assassin."
"Maybe you thought I would be vulnerable after you saved me.".
"Don't piss me off, woman.".
"My name's Samantha."
"Don't care, and I never will."
"Let me head back to my chamber tonight. That way I wouldn't have to deal with the mighty Alpha bragging about saving my life," I stood up, moving towards the door.
"Nice try, but you're sleeping with me tonight." He shook the keys, letting the metallic sound ring in my ear.
"Give me that," I growled.
"Show me what you've got, then maybe I can reconsider my decision.".
His words made my blood boil. It reminded me of my father, who maltreated me and sent me on an impossible mission to kill this bastard right in front of me.
"You wouldn't have to do that." I stretched my hands forward, almost grabbing the keys from him.
"You really need to learn the art of seduction. It would really fit you," Alpha Ryu spoke, his hands holding me up. Just as expected, I had missed and had fallen right into his arms.
"Don't even think about it," I jumped right onto the bed. Taking the right end corner of the bed and waiting for sleep to take me away.
"What about a quickie, darling?"
BEAT IT.
All the members of the pack assembled in the royal chambers the next day. It was a tense morning, and everyone stood, waiting for Alpha Ryu to arrive before them.
Rumors had begun to spread about an intruder walking into the royal chambers and injuring the Alpha. They had suddenly become insecure, panicking at the slightest touch.
"Welcome great members of the Deadly Fang Pack!" Ryu exclaimed as he approached the corridor.
"Great Deadly Fangs," they chanted till his voice came into play.
"Last night my personal assistant was caught in a tight spot in the royal chambers. She was about to be assassinated by an unknown assassin when I walked in and stopped it. Fighting him, I realized he is a master of the art of Tai, the oldest and most fierce martial art in the history of werewolves.".
Gasps came from several angles, bringing in more tension in the members.
"Not to worry. The assassin has been injured in the shoulder and should not be able to fight for the time being. With this, I'll urge every member of the pack to report anyone with an injured shoulder", Ryu announced, a smirk on his lips as he gazed at his people.
I was about to leave when he reached out to me, asking me to come forward. I knew I had to be a dog to get him to trust me, and that was what I had to do to complete my mission.
Two steps forward, my legs slipped. I was about to fall right down when I grabbed someone's arm unconsciously.
"Ahhhh".
I held onto the figure's cloak, pinning the imposter down with my elbow. I could sense an aura, deadly just like Kyle's but of lower ranking. "Who are you?"A soft giggle emanated from beneath. The headgear of the cloak fell off as the imposter revealed herself. "Madonna." My eyes widened as I stared at the meek-looking girl now in armor. "It turns out the master was right about you. You're not some Omega working as a Maiden; you're strong and resilient like a warrior." She chuckled. "What's your plan, Madonna? Why were you eavesdropping?" I gave her a stern look. "I have nothing to say to you. You're pretty pathetic, giving how raged up you look underneath that lingerie. Don't tell me you're trying to seduce the Alpha. Word, he's not into non-shifters."My hand moved, and I ended up landing her a piece of my fist. She groaned, blood spilling out of her mouth as she crashed to the ground. She kept laughing, her voice echoing in the distance. Just like before, I couldn't smell her
Alpha Ryu glared at me as he readjusted into his chair behind the desk. I had barely survived his sword of trust seconds ago, and he still had that look of rampage on his face. My heart kept pounding harder and harder every time I realized how strong his scent was around a 50-meter radius, and I was always closer to him than that. If not for the Deadly Fang pack dust and incense I had bought when I first intercepted the pack, I should be dead by now. “Deadly Fang pack!” He slammed his hand onto the desk. My hand found its way to my mouth as I stared at the stone desk. It had visual cracks; the area around his hand had pressed deep in even though it still remained sturdy. “Alpha Ryu…” I muttered. He raised his head, a red, peak-flame-like shape emanating from his eyes. I could feel anger rushing around me for no reason, and my insides began to burn from the outside. He raised himself from his chair of bones, walking up to me. I could only pray he wasn’t outraged enough to kill me
Nothing feels right when you’re confused and trying to figure out your true purpose. Hilary had cut me out of place, and with Madonna’s last act in my room, I knew my expectations for myself were quite the one. Kyle had returned from his search for the assassin who had attacked me under Ryu’s order, and a general meeting had been called among the pack to unravel the face of the villain. I wanted to see who it was up close and check if the scent matches because I didn’t trust Kyle. Ever since I had walked in as Ryu’s personal maiden, he had always been in my business, wanting out for me. As I walked out of my chambers, heading for the assembly, my ears picked up a strange wave of sound. It was basic ultrasound, high frequency, enough to make the average wolf bleed, but then it was a form of communication that could be decoded with cell.I grabbed my cell, raising it in the direction of the ultrasound. Just as I expected, letters began to appear on the cell, and the sound started to
“Samantha of the Moon Hound Pack. Do you think I wouldn’t be able to sniff you out?” She held up a mischievous smile. My eyes widened as she came closer. It was impossible to be discovered by just my scent; I had covered myself with so much Deadly Fang dust that I had begun to scent like one; how could she tell? “Your father really did train you to be the perfect daughter. That wolf really doesn’t know how to back down; no wonder he was able to take the princess from us.” My body trembled as she came closer. I sensed danger from all angles, my heart pounding as she glared at me. If she knew about my mission and was allied with Ryu, I would be dead in minutes. Shoulder muscles bleeding, I couldn’t regenerate as fast as my father and Craig, which made the pain far worse as I felt my muscles slowly try to fix my broken bone and attack themselves. “An Omega as an Alpha? What a joke!” She flicked her wrist. The guards holding me down released their grip on me but didn’t move away from
The whistling sound of the pine tree and the cold feeling of the atmosphere made my heart burn. It has been two days since I tripped over in front of the entire membership of the Deadly Fang pack. He had caught me once more, his hand on my waist and back, holding me up as our gaze met. The way his eyes glowed with sin, outstanding and fearless, made me almost want to rethink killing him. The moment was magical, but the aftermath wasn’t what I had expected. Death glares filled the air, hands clenched as they watched the Alpha help me to my feet. “She’s stylishly romancing the Alpha!!!”, I remembered how her voice reverberated in the air. “She’s trying to become Luna after taking in the gem. She thinks she’s no longer a maiden and is hoarding the Alpha; what a freak!” Murmurs filled the air, various single maidens voicing out their opinions about the Alpha and me. Ryu said nothing, a smirk appearing on his lips. I thought he was going to be a man or do something manly as usual, but
