I was abruptly pulled from my thoughts when a firm grip closed around my arm. I jumped, startled, and found Ray's large hand gripping my upper arm. I tugged my arm away, attempting to break free from his grasp. "Let me go."

"So you can run off the moment the curse breaks? Not happening," Ray declared, pulling me toward the group. "You're staying right here until everyone has completed their shift. No early departures."
