Livia POV

Rule number three: smile more often, and laugh even when he isn’t saying something funny.

Rule number three was the sole reason I had been smiling like a brainless sheep and chuckling like a delusional hyena ever since we stepped foot inside the shopping mall.

The only redeeming quality of this entire miserable evening was the exotic, silk-smooth ride that had picked me up from the compound.

Becoming the soon-to-be Luna of May town certainly had its perks, and as tiring as this disguise was, I reasoned that taking advantage of the luxury wasn't a terrible idea.

However, my patience was wearing dangerously thin. We had been sitting in the VIP lounge of the high-end boutique; May Towers, for over thirty minutes, and the actual shopping had yet to commence.

A sales representative, a sophisticated Beta woman, glided toward us with an air of solemn elegance. "Would you like a glass of champagne while you wait, ma'am? It's on the house."

My soul screamed YES, but Livyana’s voice echoed in my head: Ask for water, Livia! It makes you look humble and sweet like me.

My inner wolf practically gagged as I watched another one of life's finer pleasures fly right past me. "J-just... water, please," I stammered, painting a timid, picture-perfect smile across my face.

The representative turned to the Alpha King. "And for you, Your Highness?"

"I'm fine. I don't want anything," Tarian replied without looking up from his phone.

I sat beside him, holding my fake smile so hard my cheeks burned, wondering why simply breathing the same air as this man irked me to my very core. Look at him—sitting there so larger than life, taking up space like he owned the entire world.

Without breaking his gaze from his screen, Tarian spoke up. "Why have you been staring at me and smiling like a idiot since we arrived? Have you never been to a shopping mall before?"

I squeezed my fists under my dress, desperately suppressing the urge to rip his throat out.

Well I can’t because he is the Alpha King and I would be jailed for treason.

I swallowed the hot bile rising in my throat and forced my voice to drop into a meek, airy pitch.

"It's... it's because you are so handsome, Your Highness. And truthfully, I've never been to a place as grand as this."

Gag.

How did those words not rot my tongue on the way out? I hated this. I hated playing the clueless, starry-eyed girl. I wanted to scream in his face that I had been on plenty of rebellious shopping sprees at low-budget boutiques—sure, they were low budget, but it was my hard-earned cash, and I got to pick whatever the hell I wanted!

I wanted to tell him that there was nothing special about this place. As someone with an actual eye for high fashion, nothing here screamed style.

It was just a bunch of luxury tagged jargons crammed onto rack hangers with outrageously overpriced tags.

But instead, I just sat there, staring at him quietly like a helpless puppy.

Tarian finally slid his phone into his pocket and met my gaze. "If you have something to say, you might as well say it. Stop staring at me like that. It’s creeping me out."

"Why are we waiting?" I asked politely. "It’s been over thirty minutes."

"Patience. Patience is a virtue you clearly lack," he said blandly. "We are waiting for my mother."

My eyebrows twitched. "Your mother?"

What on earth is his mother coming here to do?

Before I could process it, the glass double doors swung open. The Queen Mother glided in, flanked by four handmaids, smelling of opulent jasmine and ofcourse, old money.

"Oh, my sweet daughter-in-law!" she cooed, stepping forward and wrapping me in a warm, suffocating hug. "How are you doing today, Livyana?"

"I'm doing very well, Your Highness," I smiled sweetly.

Tarian immediately stood up, adjusting his dark suit jacket. "Mother, now that you're here, I have an important pack meeting to catch. You can handle the rest of the shopping."

I froze. My sheepish smile nearly cracked right off my face.

The Queen Mother frowned, stepping into his path. "Tarian, you cannot be serious. I just got here! I was hoping we could…"

"I have duties to attend to," Tarian said firmly, his tone leaving zero room for debate.

A quiet, intense argument broke out between mother and son. Tarian wasn't having a single word of it. Without offering me so much as a polite nod or a respectful glance, he turned on his heel and strode out of the boutique, his guards falling into formation behind him.

The Queen Mother let out a soft sigh, turning back to sit beside me on the sofa. "I am so sorry about him, Livyana. He... well, he has urgent kingly matters to settle."

She offered a flimsy excuse, but I wasn't stupid. It was painfully obvious that the douchebag didn't buy into this whole shopping routine and couldn't care less about being here with me.

"Besides," the Queen Mother added, patting my hand gently, "the King has kingly duties. Let women do women duties."

Again, Patriarchy wins.

What did she mean women duties? I would rather be in an office working up my next vacation money if I had the chance than be in here, picking through racks of zero elegance for a bridal outfit, only to be married to that grumpy Alpha.

The suffocating stench of patriarchy in that single sentence made my skin crawl so bad, but I knew the Queen Mother was a conservative woman of the olden days. I bowed my head and silently prayed to the Moon Goddess to grant me the strength to survive this torture without snapping out.

"This will be a wonderful avenue for mother and daughter-in-law to bond," she continued warmly.

My heart sank into my stomach.

Bonding.

This was terrible news.

I could as well, officially kiss my hopes of snagging a few stunning, hot dresses goodbye. The moment the sales representative wheeled in a rack of pre-selected pieces, my worst fears were confirmed.

I stared at the dresses. Boring cuts, high collars, shapeless skirts. I didn't like a single piece. Not one.

Livia POVI was making my way back to the main house, my head still throbbing from the morning's kitchen drama, when I heard the Queen Mother’s rich, sing-song voice behind me."Is that my beautiful daughter-in-law?"I instantly fixed my face with a polite smile, swallowing the mountain of complaints resting on the tip of my tongue. More questions pricked my mind as minutes went by, but I forced my expression to remain serene."Come... come," Queen Mother Raychel said warmly as she approached, taking my hand and leading me into the living room. She gestured for us to sit on the sofa. "So, how was your night, my dear? I hope you slept well."I recalled the utter madness from last night and fought the desperate urge to roll my eyes."It was fine," I purred softly, folding my hands in my lap. "I slept like a married woman."Maybe lying was another thing I was naturally gifted at, considering how quickly my response lit up the Queen Mother's face."So... I presume sleeping like a married

Livia POV“Rule Number 4: I would like to stay on top of things—I will never leave all the chores to the staff. It is my absolute duty as Luna to keep my husband's house clean and orderly.”Livyana had to be out of her mind. She had to be.I stared at the screen of my phone, my jaw was literally sweeping the wooden floor at this point. These weren't rules a true Luna must follow —these were rules on how to be a perpetual, underpaid housemaid 101! So Livyana is trying to tell me she would leave the luxuries of this estate to be a slave just to score cheap points at being such a dutiful wife?Seriously?I visibly, physically could not see myself manifesting these ridiculous directives for the next three days, let alone three long, agonizing months.Besides, what was there even to clean?!I slipped my phone into my pocket in my dress, crossed my arms, and began pacing down the hallways of the estate. I looked around in sheer disbelief. Something’s stood out for me.First it was the way

Livia POVThis man is rude!I had officially had enough. I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me that my presence in his room was no longer needed, and frankly, my body was screaming for sleep. So, I dramatically bowed my head, turned on my heel, and led myself out of his room. I didn't want a situation that would trigger another episode like last night. Truth be told, I was still a bit shaken by the whole thing. What if Alpha Tarian had actually died in my arms? He was so large, so impossibly strong, yet surprisingly fragile under the right circumstances. I needed to be extremely careful around here. The very first thing I did when I finally reached the safety of my own room was tear off that hideous burgundy nightie. I locked the doors behind me—determined to suffer zero interruptions—and was just about to crash into the plush king-sized bed when my phone chimed on the stand.I froze, easing off a long groan before picking it up to read Livyana’s message:“Liv, I am so sorry for be

Tarian POVI woke up to bulgy eyes staring into my face and screamed.Livyana jumped back to her own side of the bed, hugging a pillow tightly to her chest. "Did you see a ghost?!" she gasped.I rubbed my eyes, glaring at her through the morning light. "Are you not a bad dream, considering the chaos you put me through last night?"She placed one hand on her chest and the other on her head, trying to stabilize her skipping heartbeat. "Thank the Moon Goddess you are still alive!""What was that for?" I asked, my voice dry and raspy. She took a deep breath, wincing slightly. "Is that the thank you I get for watching over you all through the night? Please just let me be, my body hurts."Did she just ask me to let her be? In such a manner?I ignored her for a second and picked up my phone from the nightstand. The screen lit up with breaking news notifications across May Town's pack networks.ROYAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Queen Mother Raychel Welcomes the Vivour-Wilson Family to the Royal Line. Gift

Livia POVWait, is this a joke?! Why on earth is his dick out?!Take it from me—Alpha Tarian has gone completely, utterly mad, and his insanity clearly peaks at different hours of the day!He stepped closer, his eyes burning with unholy desires as he gestured to his front. "Why are you acting so surprised? Just a few minutes ago you acted like you wanted me—calling me your darling husband, remember? Now, would it really be a bad idea if you give your darling husband some of that sugar? Spread your legs and do not make me wait."This man is indeed mad! Moon goddess save your daughter. I should not have joked or called him darling or any terms of endearment. Now I will have to be dragging my underwear with this man in a couple of seconds if you don’t intervene, dear moon goddess!"I am sorry, but where am I spreading my legs to?" I chided him, my voice trembling slightly as I desperately tried to cling to the naive Livyana script. "There is more than enough space on the bed for both of

Tarian POVI walked into the walk-in closet, closing the door behind me, and leaned heavily against the edge of the half-length mirror. I closed my eyes and drew in a long, steadying breath. I just needed to do this for a few minutes to calm the mixed feelings brewing inside me.I hated sharing my bed. I detested the very thought of someone invading my personal space, and for that single reason, I was deeply grateful for one thing: Livyana and I would only be spending this one mandatory night together. Tomorrow, she would return to her own quarters. I urged myself to simply endure her presence for a few hours. Just one night.I reached out and picked a set of dark blue nightwear from the rack. The moment the smooth fabric touched my fingers, a wave of nostalgia slammed into my chest. Dark blue had been Moriah’s favorite color. And While I tried it on, Instantly, my mind flashed back to my first night with Moriah in this very villa. It had been wild, passionate, and completely uninhibi
