The peaceful atmosphere Fay and I had been enjoying disappeared the moment Tristan sat down beside us.

Not that I was surprised.

Tristan had a strange talent for appearing exactly when nobody wanted him around.

The stone bench was large enough for all three of us, but somehow his presence still felt intrusive and Fay clearly agreed. She folded her arms and gave him an unimpressed look.
