Hazel POV

I was already awake, but I hadn’t gotten out of bed. I was trying to recall the details of the dream I had the night before.

It was in the woods and I was chasing after Xavier with my dagger drawn.

“Come on, Xavier. Don’t leave.” I pleaded.

And then he did stop.

“I will always be here,” he said. “What do you want?”

It didn’t make sense to me and it made my blood boil. I ran over to him and said to him smugly with my face a few inches from his, “You dimwit. I’ll crush you, Xavier.”

I chuckled at the thought of my menacingly threatening Xavier even in the dream. But then I felt something heavy and yet comforting around me. It was Xavier. I snuck a peek behind me but then quickly turned away, flustered. I was snuggled up with Xavier in his arms around me, but that was not all.

He was fully undressed.

I could feel every outline of his muscles against my skin and his hot and minty breath brushing my face. My face turned a very light pink as I noticed I could even feel a certain engorged southern member against my body.

I stare at his tempting face that speaks of Virgo's youth. He was a male god and he was adored by the fairer sex for his charcoal-black hair. It was mostly neat and flowing sometimes but this time it was a casual jumble on his head. His crescent-of-moon eyebrows were thin and narrow. He carried an imperious nose well and his angular cheekbones carved down towards a flinty jaw. Unusually for a man with a female wolf, he had a manly, Samson physique that was tempting and inviting me to touch.

And I almost did until I shook the stupid thought off my head, reminding myself that he was not supposed to be naked beside me.

No, it was just too much. Out of instinct, I screamed and released myself from his embrace, kicking him out of the bed in the process. Xavier growled, he wasn’t a morning person and he definitely didn’t like getting kicked out of bed.

As Xavier scrambled to get up, I looked away quickly as he was still very much naked. He moaned aggressively and ran his hands through his hair, flexing his muscles in the process.

“Why are you in my bed? Without clothes on?” I asked.

“Your bed?” He grinned.

Oh right, I had forgotten what happened before I blacked out. I was the one in Xavier's bed. But it still didn’t explain why he had his hands around me, naked.

“Don’t worry, nothing happened I promise. Just two bros, sleeping on the same bed, alone, with one naked. It just sounds worse doesn’t it,” he blushed as he bashfully looked away.

“I’ll… I’ll just leave now, okay,” I said and hurriedly exited the room. I rested my back on the door after slamming the door behind me and took in a deep breath. I was worried he had found out my identity and intentions. I ran back to my room on the first floor, I would be back there again after all I didn't complete my mission last night.

I guess Xavier will feel guilty seeing how I had run out of the room on seeing him naked. He was too silent as I leaned on the closed door and he probably will be pondering on what had happened when I left the room. He was under the covers, still unclad as the morning sun poured into the room from within the curtain blinds. He was worried that he had hurt me and overstepped my privacy, the look on his face earlier says it all.

"I guess you shouldn’t have forced him to drink, or better yet, carried him back to his room." I heard him say to himself.

I was walking outside the house, soaking in the morning sun while deep in thought. I thought about how Xavier could’ve easily found out my secret if only he had attempted to try anything with me while I was unconscious. I tried to push the thought away but I couldn’t, it was a very close call.

According to the rules of the rogues, if my secret was found out, not only would I lose the bounty, but I would also have to pay a fine and then get kicked out. Well, that was if I wasn’t killed by Silver Moon first. I knew how serious Colin took this mission and how he wouldn’t hesitate to kick me out if I failed. Despite being his adopted daughter.

At least a banished werewolf was considered a rogue, what would then become of a banished rogue? These were the thoughts that filled my head as I paced aimlessly.

Might as well start thinking of being a beggar in the human world. I muttered to myself.

The sound of a female voice jolted me out of my deep thought. I knew that voice. It was Zoe.

I walked forward to see Zoe pinning a teen werewolf against a tree, her fist dangling in front of his face, threatening to give it a redesign at any moment.

“If I do so much as see you following me again, I’ll break both your legs. Do you understand me?” She said, her last words seething with venom.

The wolf whimpered and nodded frivolously in agreement. Zoe was one to beat up her admirers, and there were many of them. I would too if I were in her position, I always thought.

I tried to walk away from the scene but not before getting seen by Zoe. Zoe released the wolf and ran in my direction and then grabbed my hand, looking aggrieved. The wolf took the golden opportunity and made a run for it.

“Can you believe it? That scumbag bullied me, I was so scared,” she ranted.

I was confused because I watched the whole thing happen. If anyone got bullied, it was definitely that wolf, and well for good reason. Next time he would learn not to be a creep.

“You came to save me. I’m glad,” Zoe said.

She then tried to push her luck with me like always.

“I’m so scared, can you send me home?” She pleaded.

“Your house is 100 meters away,” I replied dryly.

“You saved me. Let’s go for breakfast, my treat,” Zoe offered.

I scoffed at the game she was trying to play. I didn't save her like she claimed, as a matter of fate I was trying to avoid her. Those are the words I was meant to tell Zoe but seeing the innocent look in her eyes and how much she admires me I decided to play along. Who knows she might be of help to me in the future.

“I am glad to be of help, Zoe, but I’m not hungry, thank you.” I try to sound as polite as I can.

“How about going to a bar, let’s go have some drinks.”

I rolled my eyes trying not to look displeased at her request. Well, this is not the first time Zoe will be asking me for a drink but I was never interested in that I have a mission which I must fulfil.

At times acting as a man isn't easy for me, mostly in a situation like this when Zoe won't let me have breathing space.

“Umm I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s literally 9 AM,” I said to her, my voice sounding as calm as I could trying not to show how irritated I feel.

I wondered why so many Silver Moon wolves were such freaks. They just had drinks the previous night for crying out loud and now she wants to have a drink with me this morning.

Zoe looked upset, which actually made me feel bad. Then I had an idea.

“Remember when you asked me to take you to the Red Moon Gala last night? Well, I would love to go with you,” I smiled.

Zoe screamed and grabbed me into a hug, which seemed more like a murder plan to me as I didn’t appreciate being squeezed. I release myself from Zoe’s death grip and walked away to the side of the house and Zoe beamed as she watched me leave.

“If Goddess makes you my mate at the gala, I could literally faint with joy. OMG,” I heard her say to herself.

My wolf, Ted, spoke to me as I walked away. "I still think that girl is weird."

“I just think she’s trying to be on my good side. So I wouldn’t expose her to her father, Noah,” I said to my wolf.

"Well, I don't think so and with the way she looks at you and always wants to be around you I think she's in love with you…"

"Ted!" I shut my wolf off as my body cringes at the thought of having a female like me as a partner when there are many guys out there.

Jeez.

"Hazel." I heard Zoe calling behind me and when I turned around she was smiling and running over to me.

But what happens next is the most unpredictable thing and if I was feeling uncomfortable before, now my body felt tense and my heart topples over with shock as goosebumps run through my entire body while I stand motionless my eyes on Zoe who just plants a kiss on my lips before I was able to walk far away from her.

Zoe kissed me!

I didn't know what to make of all these. My mother refused to tell me everything till she was awake and present to hear. It had been a week since she went into a coma. I was still very mad at her but all I wished for was her recovery. I don't think I'd survive without her.I stared out into the sunrise and watched people pass by. The battle had ended a week ago and we were left to pick things back up. Repairs were going on. A lot had been damaged.I don't think I'd ever forget about that night. The other Pack Alpha's that attended came from me and I was deeply grateful. Two had lost their lives to silver arrows and I had two funerals to attend. Gifts had been sent to each pack member that attended in appreciation for the help they rendered to us.I had been locked up in my study for so long, thinking and wal

HAZEL'S POV;I woke up with a start. Cracking my eyes open, I was blinded by the sunlight pouring out of the window. I tried to turn away from the window but I felt a sharp pain on my side and cried out in pain. The door immediately pushed open and someone rushed into the room."Iris! Are you okay?"I opened my eyes once again to see Felix in the room. Frowning, I pushed myself up to sit, ignoring the thudding pain on my side."What's going on here?" I asked and looked around me. I was in my room but my whole body was covered in bruises."I'll be right back!" He said and dashed out of the room before I could call out to him.Swallowing was painful for me. I brought my hand to my throat and felt it. That part hurt and it felt like I had a previous wound. Five slash scars ran through the other side of my throat.I touched the side of my belly and realized that a padded gauze had been used to cover up a wound. But I didn't feel any slight pain. Slowly, I pulled it off to see another scar

XAVIER'S POV;"What's going on, brother?" Ryan asked as he came to stand beside me, shaking visibly.I turned to him. He looked really shaken. His expression was filled with fear and confusion. "This is beyond you, Ryan. Where is your mate?""She's locked up with the female guests but they have all left to join in the battle,""Including her?!"Ryan shook his head immediately. "I told her she couldn't leave. She's going to listen to me,""Good. Go now, I need to take care of Mother. She has been wounded by a silver arrow,""I'll go with her. She can't fight again. She's wounded and it's dangerous. Let me help—""No, Ryan!" My mother said from where she was on the floor. "Do as your brother says. It is not over yet. I can take care of myself,""What are you going to do with your wound, mother?"It was obvious that he wasn't going to leave till he was sure that she was okay. I didn't blame him. MILA'S POV;Once we got to the base of the steps, I found the door that led to the dungeon. I could remember every detail of this place even after fifteen years. The door was unlocked and I pulled it open. We ran through a long corridor, flanked by rough stone walls and when we got to the first cell, my eyes darted around in search of keys.I found a bunch of keys hanging off a huge naile that had been driven into the wall as quickly, I extracted it before unlocking the door and pushing her inside. I locked the door immediately and handed the key over to her."Stay here, okay? Don't move an inch. Don't give anyone this key and don't come out of here, is that clear?;""But...""No buts!" I snapped before sighing. "Look, I need you to be here. You're safer here than you are outside. Colin would want to punish you for going against his rules so he'd want to come after you himself. We are going to take care of him,"She grabbed me by the hand. Her eyes were filled with fear and I could se

An angry beast that felt betrayed.I tried my best to pull free from him by kicking him but I was high up in the air, far away from his body.He probably had an idea that I was going to try to fight back.I was fighting for air and it felt like my face was going to explode. My eyes bulged and my throat scratched."You.." he said in a guttural voice. "You betrayed me! You made me believe we had something. You wanted me dead the whole time!""No!" I cried out and coughed. "I dunno want you dead after I found out we were mated to each other. It wasn't easy, Xavier! Hear me out, please. I love you so much and I care for you. HAZEL'S POV;Colin. He was really standing here and not an apparition. Oh, fuck.Immediately, I turned to Xavier who looked absolutely confused and tried to stand on my feet but it was futile because I fell to my side. He quickly helped me up and balanced me back on the chair before turning to Colin who stood there, smiling sinisterly."Who is he, Iris? He seems to know you,""Iris?" Colin said and looked at me. "He even calls you by your name. What have you been doing?"I closed my eyes and gritted in anger, hitting the table before me and turning it over."Iris!" Xavier thundered and I stopped. "Mind telling me who this man is before I lose my patience?"I nodded and held tight onto the arm of the chair. I placed my good leg on the ground before standing on my feet. I leaned on one side of my body."Xavier, you're going to hate me after I tell you everything," I sighed and closed my eyes. "I don't want you to hate me. Whatever I did was for your safety,""You can begin talking then
