When I gave birth to my child Leo, my Alpha husband Gideon didn’t even show up. Instead, his ex girlfriend Daphne walked in and ripped my child from me. It turns out that he misunderstood and hated me ever since we mated and just need my genes to get the strongest Alpha heir from the prophecy. Daphne took the chance to put my wolf into dormancy and kicked me out to the rogue forest… Luckily, I was saved by the Alpha Prince who live in seclusion, and found out I have another child that was about to be born…. Seven years later, I returned to the pack to see my son, hiding who I really am and the fact I have my daughter Nova. But why did everything turned out to be different from what I believed?

"Congratulations, Claire! The baby is healthy and strong. " The doctor exclaims. "He must be the Alpha heir from the prophecy!"
Relief floods through me as I hear my son's cries. This is the child that the whole pack has longed for. Not only because this is the firstborn of their Alpha Gideon, but because both my baby and I are slightly unusual.
We are both destined to be the strongest of our kind.
The labor went on for hours and was incredibly rough on my body. My memories of growing up as an outsider in this pack flood back.
Back then, everyone told me I was found in the forest alone。 I grew up with no family, nobody to rely on. Only the Alpha family made sure I had my basic necessities to survive in the pack.
Everybody thought I must be an omega orphan. However, when I shifted for the first time, I was larger than any recorded she-wolves of the past century. Stronger, faster. My eyes glowed a bright gold instead of green. I was...invincible.
The elders declared that I am destined to be the strongest she-wolf of my generation. And I would become the mother of the chosen one, the Alpha of prophecy.
The KING that fated to unite all the packs under the Blood Moon.
Their excitement couldn’t be contained as my fated mate turned out to be their young Alpha, Gideon. Meaning the Alpha of prophecy would be born to them, the Silver Crescent Pack.
"Has Gideon arrived yet?" I asked, can't wait to see my fated mate.
The nurse who is holding my hand, Emily, purses her lips together. "No. We called Alpha several times, but there was no answer. We’ve just sent a nurse to bring him here."
Disappointment threatens to drown my happiness, but I hide it well as always. Even after all these years, I’m still not sure if Gideon has accepted me as his marked mate and wife.
Gideon had only been twenty-two when we had discovered we were fated mates.
Deep down, I was ecstatic. I've always felt drawn to Gideon. How could I not be? He was strong and attractive. Everything about him was...well, perfect.
However, at the time, he had been seeing the daughter of his father's Beta, Daphne. They were happy together and everyone thought they would be fated mates. I didn’t want to disrupt their relationship, so I took a step back to let Gideon make his own decision.
Gideon's family accepted me into their home, as was customary of being identified as the Alpha's mate. But that first night in his home, I could feel his presence through the walls. It weighed on me heavily, having me bite my fist in frustration.
The next morning, I found myself naked in Gideon's bed. We not only slept together but also completed the mating bond by marking each other.
I didn't understand how it came to us mating. I felt groggy and couldn't even remember the night before.
When Gideon woke up, he was furious. He locked me in his room and rushed out.
Soon I realized that he probably thought I had tricked him into his heat, for a mate cannot be rejected while in heat.
Later that night, Gideon returned. I tried to explain that I also had no idea why we were both in heat, but he cut me off. Gideon said that it was not important anymore. Gideon's parents convinced him to marry me since we were already marked, making us unable to reject each other for three years.
He promised that if I gave birth to the Alpha heir of prophecy, I would officially become his Luna.
I agreed.
Then for a while, everything between us was merely about sex.
I did my best to be a good wife to him, trying to win his affection, trying to earn something more than sex. Some days, he did seem to soften at my touch.
And yet... he's still not here at his son's birth.
The medical staff surrounds my son to the point that I can't even see his face. "Excuse me? Can I hold my son, please?"
Emily speaks up, "Of course! Everyone out. Let the mother bond with her pup."
Everyone funnels out except Emily and Dr. Ander. The elder passes my little boy to me. The baby's eyes are closed tightly as he cries, waving his small fists in the air.
"Shh, it's alright." I coo, shifting the baby higher in my arms.
"What will you name him?" Emily asks.
"Leo, after Gideon's father." The baby has calmed down and is sleeping against my chest.
The baby quietly fusses, and I wonder if my mother ever felt this pride while looking at me. I never knew my parents, but I like to think that my parents had passed tragically instead of choosing to abandon me.
"Your papa is busy working." I rub my nose against Leo's head. "He will be here soon. He definitely will.”
Then I hear footsteps outside the door, and my heart leaps. It has to be the nurse returning, with Gideon!
Suddenly, the door to my room bursts open, but instead of Gideon, a woman with long, dark hair and a pointed face steps in.
It is...Daphne.
"Oh, hello, Daphne. What are you doing here?" Panic courses through me. Did something happen to Gideon?
Daphne strides over to me and rips Leo from my arms.
"Stop! Nurse!" I claw at her arms, pushing myself from the bed.
Guards quickly funnel into the room, pulling me away from Daphne.
"What the hell are you doing?!"
Leo cries in Daphne's arms. She shushes him coldly. "Your job is done, Claire. Gideon only needed you for your genes. Now that the baby is here, I can become his Luna just as planned."
She turns towards the door.
"You're lying. Gideon said that I would be his Luna. I am his mate. The mother of his child!" I snarl.
Daphne scoffs and looks over her shoulder. "Play the tape."
A guard pulls out his phone and presses play on a recording. Gideon's voice hums throughout the room. "After Claire has the baby, I will get rid of her. And you will be my Luna."
Daphne smiles. "See? He has longed to be rid of you, bitch. You were just OUR surrogate."
She turns on her heel and struts out of the room. I struggled desperately to break free from the guards' control, screaming at her to give my child back to me.
I snarl, scratching my nails against any exposed skin I can find.
“Do it.” One of the guards shouts.
I feel a sudden sharp pain in the back of my neck, making my body go limp.
I was thrown to the ground, and the last thing I see before I black out is the door of the hospital room slammed shut mercilessly in front of me.
Gideon's POVI bet if her mouth were not covered, I would see a sneer on her face. "Are you even fit to be a father? You barely spend time here. You leave everything to others, but your child’s safety is your responsibility.”The words sting, sharper than I expect. I open my mouth, but before I can respond, Ivan steps forward, his presence calm and measured, like a steady hand in a storm.“Enough,” Ivan says smoothly. “Raven’s rudeness comes from her motherly instincts. She has a deep affection for children. Sometimes, that can lead to overreactions.”Raven steps back, still watching Daphne with a mix of disdain and pain. Ivan’s voice softens. “It’s clear she cares for the boy. That's all."There’s something in Raven’s eyes I can’t place. For a moment, I study her closely—the way her gaze lingers on Leo, the subtle tension in her shoulders, the way she fights to keep her emotions in check. She’s not just a warrior. She’s someone who has known loss. Someone who understands sacrifice.I
Claire's POVOne of the guards calls to me shortly after, reminding me that as a warrior, I’m to eat in the auxiliary hall with the rest of the Night Mountain entourage. The auxiliary hall is tucked behind the main wing, far from the grand dining chamber where the high-ranking alphas and their heirs are gathered. It smells faintly of boiled grain and sweat—familiar, grounding, and quietly humiliating. No music filters into this space. No laughter. Just the clatter of cutlery and the low murmur of warriors too tired or too wary to speak freely. Inside, the servants move around with quiet efficiency.I find a spot at the edge of the room, mostly unnoticed—until I start recognizing the faces. They were familiar once. Women who’d brought me tea during my pregnancy, who had whispered congratulations when they thought it was safe, who helped me sneak fruit from the kitchens when I couldn’t stomach anything else. They had been kind. Gentle. Protective, even in their small ways. And now, they
Claire's POVI back up. This was a mistake. I can’t handle this.Ivan intercepts him smoothly. "Alpha Gideon. We have business to discuss."Gideon’s eyes pull away from me to the Alpha in front of him. “Prince Ivan, I wasn’t expecting to see you.”Their voices drift away as I take advantage of the distraction and slip away into the garden beside the pack house. I just need to breathe for a moment. That’s all. Just breathe. The moment the cold air hits my skin, I suck in a shaking breath. My lungs feel tight, like I’ve been holding them hostage for six years. My heart won’t stop pounding.I shouldn’t be here. I shouldn’t have come. But—Then I hear a boy’s laughter. My senses snap into focus.A small body barrels into me.I stumble back and instinctively catch him, my hands grasping small arms, warm through the fabric of his coat.“Whoa!” he says, blinking up at me, wide-eyed and winded. “Sorry! I didn’t see you!”But I see him. Golden curls. Big eyes. Freckles just like mine. A tooth
Claire's POVSix years. That’s how long it’s been since I clawed my way out of Silver Crescent, when I bled into the mud and fell into Ivan’s territory.Luckily, my wolf is half cured through my years of effort, and I’m still standing and fighting. The wind bites across the cliffs as I lead my squad of warriors back through the pass. Our boots are stained with rogue blood and ash. The scent of smoke clings to us. We won, barely. Another wave of invaders pushed back."Claire," one of the younger guards calls from behind me, her voice bright with respect and adrenaline. That still catches me off guard sometimes. The way they look at me now, like I am someone to behold. But I’m not. Not really.I nod to the girl. "Good work today. We kept the border intact. That’s what matters."The gate comes into view, and the tension in my shoulders loosens just a little. Home. And waiting at the threshold, arms open and eyes burning with excitement, is Nova.My daughter. She launches into a sprint wh
Gideon's POVWhen I arrive, I’m met at the border by a woman I’ve seen only once before—Ivan’s housekeeper. Neatly dressed, eyes sharp, she bows, just enough to show respect, but no more."Alpha Gideon," she says flatly. "What brings you to Night Mountain?""I have reason to believe that one of mine crossed into your territory."The woman looks at me expectantly.I sigh, annoyed. "Red hair, brown eyes.""Oh." Her expression doesn’t shift. "She was being pursued by rogues. She passed through here but only briefly."My breath catches. "You left her to die?""She was in poor condition," the housekeeper says coldly. "Her wolf was barely present."My mind reels. Claire? The strongest she-wolf in our packs history reduced to nothing?"How? Why would her wolf disappear?"The woman shrugs. "I wouldn’t know, sir."My blood roars in my ears. Where is she? She has to be alive, she has to be."Then where is Ivan? I want to speak to him directly." I push past her."He’s not obligated to entertain—
Claire's POVI don't know what Daphne made up after Gideon realized I was left. But Gideon is cruel enough to want me erased. That much was clear.Even the whole celebration was probably a trap to capture me.I am foolish enough to believe that after all these years, even though he never love me back, he will give me a chance to explain myself in a more peaceful way.Now I have to say the truth hurts. As soon as I make it to the car, I hide until Peter pulls open the door and throws himself in the driver's seat. The car skids on the dirt road, circling wide around the packhouse until the lanterns and cheers are nothing but faint echoes behind us.We ride without speaking, without breathing. My thoughts tumble over themselves as the woods swallow us.“Claire,” Peter says gently. “You need to rest. You’re still recovering. I'll wake you when we get there.""I can't. If I close my eyes," My voice cracks. "If I close my eyes, I'll see my little boy. I'll see my life before all of this."H
