Chapter 2: The News

Dad what do you mean I've been sold already? I Asked

Well you turn 18 tomorrow which means it's time for you to be sold to your mate. Dad said

But most she wolves don't get sold until after they turn 18. I said

That's true but this specific suitor has seeked you out and he's had his eye on you for awhile waiting for you to turn 18. Dad said

Well are you going to tell me who my suitor is or do I have to wait and find out? I asked

Well I was going to wait to tell you exactly who he is but I guess it won't hurt to tell you. Alpha Jackson of the Blood Moon Pack is your suitor. Dad said nonchalantly

WHAT? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS RIGHT NOW! I yelled

YOUNG LADY DON'T YOU DARE USE THAT TONE OF VOICE WITH ME AGAIN! Dad said in his Alpha voice

I bowed my head in submission. He may be my dad but he's also the Alpha of my pack meaning I still had to respect him and submit to him. Right than my mother comes in.

What is going on? Mom asked

She found out that she's been sold. Dad said

Yeah and I'm not ready. I'm not even 18 yet. I said

Sweetie I know it's hard but it's really for the best. You'll see. Mom said while walking over to me.

How is any of this right? Everyone fears Alpha Jackson. He has a lot of blood on his hands and yet you want me to just become his mate? I asked

It's what's best for the pack. Dad said

What do you mean it's what's best for the pack? Last I checked mating had nothing to do with the previous pack the she wolf belonged to. I said

Well since you're pretty much an adult I will tell you. Please have a seat. Dad said

I sat down like he told me to but I wondered why he was all of a sudden changing his attitude and body language. He kind of looked ashamed. I’ve never seen him look like this before.

Where to start... Okay so the pack has been having a lot of financial issues. The businesses in town that we own aren't doing very well. A lot of our pack members are struggling so they haven’t been able to pay their taxes. We recently had to have a major renovation in the pack house due to the pipe that burst. Which was pretty spendy. We also had that rogue attack and some things got damaged. Luckily we were able to borrow some money from an ally of ours to help keep us a float but with everything going on we needed to do something because the borrowed money isn't going to last very long. We’re already almost out. Dad said

Sweetie trust me you had 4 suitors after you because of how strong your Alpha genes are. Your alpha genes stretch as far back as to when we were still finding our destined mates and possibly even further than that. Mom said

If I had 4 suitors after me than why did you pick Alpha Jackson? I asked

Because he bid the highest. Honestly I was rooting for Alpha Gabrielle of the Blue Moon Pack but he only bid 4 million dollars. Dad said

Wait a minute. 4 million dollars? I asked

Yes sweetie. Mom said while playing with my hair

Dad you said only 4 million so how much was I actually sold for? I asked

Well I guess since you're about to be 18 you're old enough to hear the truth. You were sold to Alpha Jackson for 1.5 billion dollars. This amount will allow us to pay back our ally plus have enough to get through this rough patch. Dad said

What? Is he crazy? I asked with surprise present in my voice

No he's not crazy. He wanted you that much and he knew you had other suitors interested so he bid high. Dad said

But sweetie that's not the only thing. Mom said while looking at my dad

What? Just tell me please? I asked with pleading eyes

Dad took a big breath before he began to speak again. I know tomorrow is your birthday but he's coming to get you tomorrow evening.

What? But tomorrow is my birthday. What about my birthday cake? Or the family run we always have on each of our birthdays? What about the celebration we always have? I asked while starting to panic

Sweetie we know it'll be hard but he's not coming until tomorrow evening. We're still going to go on one last family run tomorrow morning before breakfast. You'll still get your birthday pancakes and we still bought you a cake. We also invited some of your friends over for a lunch bbq party just for you. Alpha Jackson isn't supposed to be in until around 5 or so. We will still do stuff one last time for your birthday I promise. Mom said giving me a hug

Do I even have a choice in this matter. I ask

No you don't. Now I suggest you go upstairs and pack. Dad said

Okay. I said while walking towards the back door

Where are you going? Dad asked

For a run. I need to let Alicia out. She's getting quite restless. I said
