Epilogue II

Day after funeral pyres

Sitting in the car with my mate, Alpha Brock Malone, was pure torture with his scent surrounding me, nearly suffocating me. He smelled delicious, leather and pine. It had been over a year since I had seen him. A year since I had spoken my official rejection. A year since he had softly said that he did not accept that rejection. Orsa, my bear, and I were slowly dying. I was having difficulty shifting and when I did, it was agony. Orsa stopped talking to me, I rarely heard from her and when I did, it was usually something snarky. I didn’t blame her though; I had taken her away from her mate. Brock hadn’t been doing much better, according to my brother, who happened to be his Gamma. He was angrier than he had ever been, his temper out of control to the point that the sleuth was beginning to fear him for all the wrong reasons.
