As dinner drew to a close I started to panic internally. Silas would want me to go back to his cabin with him and there was no way I would be locked alone with him for that long. I needed to find a way to avoid that. Play up my hesitancy given who he is. It’s not an outright lie at the very least. As much as dinner was delicious it was also over a lot faster than I would have liked.
As everyone started to get up and leave the table to move on to other things as the evening drew to a close, I discreetly looked around the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of Torrance. Just as I saw a flash of her wild curls, Silas grabbed my hand and lifted me from the table. He wrapped his arm around my waist and led me out of the hall. I shivered as the cool night air met my bare skin, goosebumps erupting on my skin.
Silas took off his suit jacket and put it over my shoul
Hey everyone! Let me know what you think. Any guesses on how she knows Alistair Kane?
“So please, let's all sit,” Marik said as he motioned to the chairs by the fireplace. After a second of hesitation, I sat and rubbed my hands on my jeans to try to calm myself. Marik sat across from me while Alpha Kane sat on the armrest of the chair beside him and Victor came to stand beside me, giving my shoulder a reassuring squeeze before stepping back. “Why don’t you tell us your story from the very beginning.” Marik prompted as he got comfortable. I nodded and licked my lips once before starting.“Well, I’m Kara, the only child to the former Luna and Alpha of Ravenfield. I was to be the next Alpha. I was young the first time I shifted, barely 5. Most shift from 10 to 13, sometimes a year or two before and or after. Because I was so young my parents knew I was meant to be Alpha. We never told anyone for fear that It would make my family a target, make me a tar
“What are you doing here?” I asked in shock, mildly annoyed at his ever-present smirk. The man was too self-assured for his own good. He just smirked at me more before lifting off the wall and walking a few steps towards me. “I am here little wolf because the council asked me to be. As a member, I couldn’t exactly refuse.” He informed me with a shrug. “Apparently there’s something going on that has a lot of shifter groups in the area concerned.” “Why? What’s going on?” I asked curiously. I haven’t heard about anything happening to other groups. “Spoilers dear little wolf. Shouldn’t you be tucked away in bed with your mate?” He asked with a smirk as he tilted his head to look at me. “God no. Anywhere but there.” I shuddered and shook my head. “Last p
I sat across from Silas and wondered not for the first time, what I had gotten myself into. Breakfast was delicious and he was actually good company, a good conversationalist. He was also surprisingly funny in a dry sarcastic kinda way. I found myself laughing a few times throughout breakfast, smiling a lot more than I’d like to admit. He was making it hard to hate him on more than just principle. I sighed and sipped the rest of my juice before I stood up and started to clean away the garbage and put the dishes on the catering trolly. It gave me something to focus on besides Silas and his smell that was all over the cabin. “You don’t need to do that Kara, I can have someone come in and take care of it. I’d like us to sit and talk some more.” He said, taking my hand and pulling me towards him. My body went willingly, leaning against his chest while he put his
“Oh hey, Kara, or should I say Luna?” a masculine and cheery voice said from my left. I turned and saw Jax heading my way with his friend Silas, Dorin’s son. Clementine was with them as well. I smiled and gave them a soft wave as they came over with their food and sat at the table with me, Silas sitting beside me while Clementine and Jax sat across from us.“Hey, guys. Having fun?” I asked as I sipped my drink and munched on my last few donuts. Damn Magnus snagged most of them.“Yeah, man. This carnival is great and I’m greatly enjoying the food.” Silas said with a grin as he ate nachos that smelled amazing. “So where’s your mate?”“He’s back with his pack. I asked if I could have some time.” I said with a noncommittal shrug. I could
I smiled at Silas softly before looking out into the crowd, chuckling as I watched a group of kids playing and fighting each other. It turned into full-blown laughter when I watched a little girl punch a bigger boy in the nose hard enough to make him fall down. She shouted a few profanities at him before stomping off, the other kids helping the boy up before they all took off after her. A girl after my own heart. “Do you like children Kara?” Silas asked softly as he watched me watch the kids running away. I looked at him a little shocked before shrugging in response. “I don't hate them. But I never thought of having any, at least not any time soon. I want to live my life before I’m ready to settle and try for a family.” I answer honestly as I watch his reaction. He frowns, looking mildly annoyed before nodding. “
“Dang that's a lot of stuffies.” Torrance commented from the doorway as she walked in with Viola right behind her, a bag over her shoulder. I laughed and shrugged as I mentioned to them on the end of my bed. “By all means take what you like. Silas and I won them today. Mostly Silas though. He wanted to try and get me one of everything.” “Oh, that’s adorable. Ooh! There’s a cute little frog. It’s so soft too. I’m taking this little guy.” Tor cooed as she spotted the frog. I chuckled and sat up on the bed, looking at Viola who set her bag down by Tor’s bed. Well looks like it’s time for me to be a good friend and make myself scarce for the night. “I have that dinner thing tonight, for all the Alpha’s and their Luna’s. I’ll most likely stay with Silas tonight.” I said with a smile at them both, internally dreading t
Dinner tasted absolutely amazing and I found myself craving seconds, but then dessert came and as I did a little happy wiggle in my seat Silas chuckled at me, his honey-brown eyes bright with amusement. I just shrugged and dug into the delicious cheesecake, savouring the first bite with closed eyes and a content sigh. “I take it dessert is your favourite meal?” Silas asked with a chuckle as he moved some of my curls back behind my shoulder. “Yeah, I have a pretty big sweet tooth for certain things.” I admitted with a shrug. Before he could respond his eyes glazed over like he was being mind linked. After a few seconds, he sighed and shook his head as his gaze focused on me. “There’s something I have to go deal with, my father and me. Something happened back at the packs. I will fill you in on everything when I ge
By the time we walked into the cabin, I felt like I was going to hyperventilate. The walk back had been silent and even now as we got into the cabin I was grasping at any idea I could to convince him I was sleeping on the couch and nothing was going to happen. I kicked off my heels and sat on the couch, rubbing my sore toes. I pulled my hair up into a messy bun and rooted through my bag for pyjamas. I took them and went into the bathroom quickly, changing out of my dress and doing my nightly routine, switching out my nice bra for a sports bra and moving the ring as well. I didn’t want to leave it in my bag just in case. I came out and went back to the couch, stuffing my things into my bag and putting it on the floor. I went to the wardrobe that was in the living room and found extra blankets and pillows. I took them out and made a bed for me on the couch, happy that at least it was a big couch and actuall
