“Alpha Ryder,” Juan said with respect in his voice as he bowed to him. He gave a worrying look at Lyle. When they all settled, awkward silence hung in the air.
Lyle looked at the woman who was sitting opposite to her and wondered if she even remembered her. But there was one thing she could feel—there was lightness in the air. The heaviness and gloom associated with the spells was gone. When last time she had seen the men and women around her, they all looked dull, morose and indifferent to their surroundings, but now she could feel and see the glint in their eyes.
The woman spoke, “Good morning, Alpha.”
Ryder gave a tight nod in response, as he clutched Lyle’s hand all the more tightly and put it his lap as if making a statement.

Lyle jerked her eyes open. The blast was so loud that she found Ryder already rushing outside. Quickly she wore her shorts and tank top and ran outside. The explosion was so loud that it came like a horrible yell from hell. It was very dark but the forest in front of their lodge was engulfed in fire. Flames rose high into the night as if challenging the darkness of the night, challenging the sanctuary of the forest animals.
