16. Have a Crush on Him?

It felt like my head would explode from all the endless formulas I had to study. No, I really wasn't cut out for this science stuff. What made me wonder, though, was—what exactly am I good at?

I just felt so stupid.

“Come on, Bernice! Focus!” I muttered.

It was my third day at the academy, and nothing out of the ordinary had happened. Genesis was still clingy every day, but I'd started to get used to him—and managed to avoid him most of the time… except during meals.

I knew I had to work hard to keep up with the others, so I decided to study in the library. I didn't want to rely on Aggy, Piper, and Paige, who were already trying their best to teach me. Unfortunately, I still didn't understand anything.

"Oh, God," I whispered in despair.

Why can't I understand anything that's being taught in class? Everything the teacher explains seems to go in one ear and out the other. If this continues, my grades will be terrible. I don't have any special talents. I was just born an ordinary girl. C
