#Chapter 17 (Deonna) A Staunch Conservative

I woke up again in Marlon’s bed, the previous conversations were fuzzy in my mind, but I remembered Dr. Lovewitt confirming my pregnancy and then telling me that I was going to die within the next 6 months. Which I guess, in my case, was a good thing because I couldn’t have a nobleman’s child.

Marlon had asked me why I didn’t tell him about my heart condition and the truth be told, I had no idea I had this condition. I knew during high-stress moments I would start to feel ill. Even during my time on the slave farm, my chest would often ache. I could practically feel my heart pressing against the inside of my chest, trying to escape through my skin. It always left me gasping for breath and crying out in agony. This would also get me in trouble with the guards because any sounds made that didn’t align with them speaking directly to us and asking for us to speak in return, was a strict violation of the rules.
