Chapter 41

Lauren Jauregui's Point Of View

A bloody noise disturbed my sleep. I shifted on the bed amid the soft sheets, putting two pillows Over my head, in an attempt to make the noise stop, but it was in vain. I opened my eyes with certain difficulty, feeling my eyelids heavier than normal. The few hours of sleep in Camila's house were now being recovered, or at least I was trying to do that.

The noise came back again, and only now I realized that it was my phone, which was ringing insistently on my nightstand. I reached out, groping the fine wood table, trying to find my phone. I grabbed the device, bringing it to my ear.

-Hello? I let out sleepily and irritated.

-Lauren... - I heard Vero's voice sound low and fearful.

-I hope you have a good reason to call me at this hour. -I muttered.

-I need you to come to the precinct now.

-Why? My shift starts at 7AM.
