The cold breeze that night made all the hairs on my body stand on end. I rubbed my hands on my arms covered by the thick black jacket for warmth. It was already late and I was still stuck to that police station. I shook my head and took the gloves off my hands to capture my little box where I had my cigarettes. I needed that to end my anxiety. It was Winter, New York was COvered by a thick and cold layer of snow. I particularly loved this time of year. I still could see some young kids playing war in the midst of all that ice in the next door neighbor's house. Peter, the little one, saw me from afar and waved excitedly.-Hi, Lauren! - the blond boy shouted.I smiled at him and waved. The boy turned his attention back to his friendsband to what he was doing. I grabbed a cigarette to put it between my lips, capturing my small lighter drawn with the flag of the United States. I saw the spark light up when I pressed the small button, until seeing fire wholly. As soon as the cigarette lit, I put the lighter back in my pocket. I pulled the smoke into my mouth in an intense way, automatically feeling my body get better.Damn addiction.I released the smoke that faded away in the cold air of that night. I needed to get out of there. I had an extremely exhaustive day at the precinct. In that moment I had a stack of papers with numerous cases to solve. Robberies, murders, aggressions, all too little and nothing satisfactory. I was a deputy in Mount Vernon, a small town in the Westchester County in New York State. I loved what I did, but in these last few years all the cases seemed too small. I loved to be challenged, I loved to chase situations that seemed to be impossible to solve and that wasn't happening, not in my hands.-Deputy Jauregui?-Yes, Iglesias?-I left all the archived cases on your desk, the young woman of earlier today is here again and wants to drop the charges against her husband.-You are joking, right? -I asked staring at her.Veronica Iglesias shook her head, shrugging.-That woman likes to be beaten up, next time she comes here to file a complaint about her husband, I'll personally take care of beating her instead. - I grumbled irritated, making the officer laugh.-I'll back you up, Lauren.I smiled at her and pulled a little smoke into my mouth again. Handing it to her so that she would do the same. She approached and leaned against the cold wall where I was, grabbing the small cigarette from my hand to put it between her lips. She didn't take long to let out the smoke screen betvween her lips. Veronica Iglesias or simply Vero was my best friend, she worked with me as a clerk and investigator, she was like a sister to me since high school when we met. We were always on together for everything that happened in this life.-What happened? - she asked staring at me with raised eyebrows.-I sent our files to New York today, I'm a bit anxious to know if we will or not be called.-You and your thirst for big cases. - she whispered with the cigarette still in her mouth.-I'm glad you know, I can't stand this here anymore.-I like it here, Laur. - she said staring at nothing.I sighed, grabbing the cigarette from her hand to take another drag.-I like it here too, but I want to grow as a deputy. And in this town I won't be able to do that, I need something big! It might be hard, but I'm sure I can do it.And you too, Vero., - I said sincerely. She shrugged and nodded.-Look, have you ever stopped to think about us living in New York City? It will be incredible!Iglesia's got somewhat thoughtful and smiled.-It will be awesome, Jauregui! Can't wait for it! - she spoke excitedly, leaving me relieved. It would be weird to go somewhere else if Vero wasn't with me. I knew that we wouldn't stay together forever, but in our history as friends and police officers we were always a duo.-Important cases, new places, new people. -I said mischievously.-New women, you mean. - she spoke amid an amused laugh.-Exactly.-It will be incredible! I really want to go. - she spoke confidently.-We will, I'm pretty sure. - I spoke looking into her eyes.-I trust you!I smiled giving one last drag on the cigarette, to throw what was left of it on the ground, stepping it with the tip of my shoe, which made it sink in the snow.-It's already pretty late, what do you think of us going to Jared's bar to celebrate our future plans? - she asked.-It's a great idea, I need tWo things to keep me relaxed tonight. The day in this precinct wasn't one of the best. - I huffed angrily.Vero let out a laugh and climbed the stairs to the door of the police station, opening it to enter the warmer and illuminated environment.-Drinks and sex. Did I get it right? - she asked looking at me over her shoulder.-Spot on! - I said as I walked into my office.Receiving a curious look from the rookie cop who was in the reception desk. It hasn't been not even two weeks since she started working there. She was very pretty, she hada small body, and even under her uniform I could easily notice that her body was defined. She had light eyes, a striking and probably very tasty mouth.-Iglesias?Vero turned towards me as she organized her desk.-Yes?-What's the name of the girl that's in the reception desk? -I asked as if I didn't want anything.-The rookie cop?-Yes.She seemed to think for a few seconds, when she finally answered:-I think her name is Keana, at least that was how Otavio called her earlier today. - she spoke in a relaxed way as she straightened her clothes. She paused for a moment and looked at me.- Why, Jauregui? She asked knowing exactly my answer.-Oh, nothing! Curiosity! We could invite her to go with us to Jared's bar, what do you think?Veronica rolled her eyes and let out a laugh.-You are hopeless. - she exclaimed as she threw her hands up.-What have I done this time? - I asked pretending to not understand her.-What you want and will do, Lauren. She hardly arrived and you already want to fuck her?I let out a loud laugh and sat on my overstuffed chair, spinning a few times until stopping facing Vero, who was standing staring at me with her hands on her waist.-She's hot, and she keeps checking me out.-That she's hot I noticed since she set foot in this police station. But don't you think you should back off?-I won't deceive the girl, it's just sex. -I spoke as I played with the rubber of the pencil.-You said that about Vivian last month, and nowadays she fills your phone with text messages and calls.-Not anymore, I changed my number. - I said shaking my phone.-You are a womanizer, Lauren. - Vero spoke between an amused laugh.-I'm not, I just don't see any reason to get involved with someone. Sex without commitment is the best thing in the world. You fuck for an entire night, you get satisfied and on the next day you don't have to deal with anyone nor have to cuddle. - I spoke calmly, getting up from the chair where I was sitting - It's perfect.-I know that very well, but I am determined to get a girlfriend. I need someone who will always be there for me.I rolled my eyes in an impatient way.Camila Collins' Point Of ViewI felt Lauren's arms Wrapping me carefully, as the rain fell over our heads. The car with the men had just gotten lost amid the darkness of that deserted field. I felt my body being lifted, causing me to sit."Camila? Look at me." I opened mny eyes and stared into that pair of so worried green eyes.Even with the darkness that surrounded us, I stared at her partially illuminated face by the lit headlights of her car, seeing the raindrops running down her white skin. Even knowing that none of that was real, and that I was never in danger, I felt incredibly safe in the arms of that woman, as if she could surface me from that quagmire of lies and rancor."Everything is okay, they are gone.""I'm sorry." I let out almost automatically, without realizing.Lauren frowned, joining her eyebrows in the center of her forehead. She stared at me with a confused expression, but soon took care of shaking her head. I felt my breath falter in pure fear."For what, Camila
Christopher shouted loud and clear, attracting the attention of everyone who was in that place. I felt my whole body boil, as if the hatred accumulated with all the other bad feelings that I suffered in the last hours were joining."I am to blame? You are the one to blame, you moron! I am responsible for covering your wife's safety and not yours! She would be safe if you were with your damn security guards, because I'd have taken her out of that damn car, and left you in the hands of those thugs!"He stared at me astonished at the audacity in which I regarded him. I didn't care about his economic level, or even his power over Brandon. I wouldn't let him throw on me the blame for something that wasn't in my hands to fix, not alone."I'm sure those guys wanted you! And not her! But now they saw a weak spot, and theyll abuse it!""You don't know anything! You're just a shitty little cop!" I balled my hands into fists, trying to control the urge I had to punch him in that instant."You sh
Lauren Jauregui's Point Of ViewI pounded hard on the door a few more times trying to get the men's attention on the other side, but none appeared. I just needed some new about Camila, her absence in the room where Christopher and I were made me more and more apprehensive. I felt my wrists aching due to the ropes that bounded them, but surely, I was way better than Christopher. The men even left me on an old mattress, and the ropes only wrapped my hands, but with the businessman it was totally different. He was thrown on the ground, with his body completely bound."Stop with that infernal noise. You'll end up irritating them!" The man muttered grumpily. "She should be fine!""You don't know anything! What kind of husband are you?" "The kind who's smart and doesn't want any of us to die due to insistence and rebellion.""She could be suffering in another room!"We heard noises coming from the door, and soon I quickly backed away when the men entered with masks on their faces. They wer
Camila Collins' Point Of ViewThe sound of our high heels echoed through the empty corridors of that warehouse. I wallked ahead, having Normani and Dinah following right behind. One of the men accompanied us to provide the services requested by us. I stared at both women as soon as we stopped before a thick metal door; they nodded briefly, and then I looked at the man."You can open it." I ordered."Yes, ma'am."The man approached the door, grabbing the ring of keys from his pocket, and quickly took care of unlocking the door, which creaked as it was being pushed slowly by me."You can go for a walk. We'll call you if we need." I murmured at the marn who alternated his gaze before the three women in front of him."As you wish." He said before leaving. Dinah entered the dark room, followed by Normani and then by me. The blonde was incredibly beautiful for that situation, as if for my best friend that plan was also an act to be celebrated and reveled in the best possible way. She gestu
Normani opened the way for me to enter the system freely and withdraw what I wanted. Dinah just waited for the amount, which would be sent to an account abroad. I started typing the numerical sequence in an out of the ordinary speed, as my eyes ran through the numbers that appeared on the luminous screen.-We don't have much time. The system is paralyzed.I heard Normani's voice in the back, as if I were several meters away.-I'm almost there... -I said without stop typing the numbers that would give me all the access.I could hear the beating of my heart, strong and frantic. In that moment, all my concentration was there. I typed the last number and clicked on the little button on the left, when a new window opened on the screen, showing the following sentence "Access to the Financial System granted". A smile escaped my lips, drawing Dinah's attention, who approached quickly.-I hope that that smile is a good thing. – Dinah murmured hopefully.-Keep focus, I'll transfer the amount. -
-Are you enjoying the life you deserve? -I asked as I released him again -Cuckold!I walked away from him, seeing his body fall to the side completely limp. I glanced at Lauren who remained the same way. Until I heard some knocks on the door.-Ma'am. - one of the men entered the room -They are already waiting for you in the other room.I just nodded at him who left right away. I glanced one last time at Christopher, and then approached Lauren again.-I'm going to solve some things, but don't worry. I'm here to protect you. -I whispered, depositing a kiss on her forehead.I got up again and straightened the dress in my body, and then ran one of my hands through my hair and walked out of that room. I saw the men on the first floor in an entertaining conversation, and walked back to the main room. Upon entering my room, I came across the people who were waiting for me.Tower. Bishop.-Were you visiting your detainees? - Dinah asked with a cynical smile - 0r should I say your lovers?I ro
I'm sorry about this, but I simply can't do it differently. -I whispered as I touched her so delicate face with the tip of my fingers- You were not in my plans, Lauren. I sighed, and slid my thumb down her cheek, until reaching the outline of her lips.-Maybe you're the only one who can make me fall in this game. -my hand slid over her hair, in a soft caress - But I can't let that happen.I held her head delicately, resting it on the floor slowly. I got up, and looked around the room. On the other side was Christopher, tied up and thrown on an old mattress. I approached him and pulled his heavy body with certain difficulty off the soft object; I dragged the mattress to Lauren's body. And with less difficulty, I placed the young woman's body on top of the relatively soft mattress; I untied the knot and removed the rope around her body, to then tie up only her wrists.-I think you're better this way. - I whispered to her, as if she could hear me -I won't let anyone hurt you again, okay
Camila Collins' Point Of ViewThe place was big, dimly lit, and totally away from the city. It was a perfect choice to execute my plan. Nothing could go wrong in that moment, nor in future events. Everything was thoroughly thought out, worked, and executed, so that nothing could hinder that move. After all, that wasn't a mere game of luck, but of strategy. Only the best and strongest players survived in the unequal jungle of that board game called real life. And I'd show that my entry in that game had only one goal: to win.-Put them in that room!*(Play song- Gangsta by Kehlani)*I heard the deep and masculine voice yelling in the background, echoing through the vast space of the abandoned warehouse. I walked slowly into one of the rooms, which was in a much better state than the rooms where the victims of my little game would be in. I heard heavy footsteps in the cold floor right behind me, taking care to serve me. I walked to the center of the huge room, where there was a table wit
As soon as I tried to get closer to Camila, we heard the shrill ring of her phone. She looked at me and walked towards the desk to grab the device that was there. I just watched her as I sat on the soft couch.-Hi, honey.I heard her say as soon as she answered the call. I rolled my eyes at that, receiving a soft chuckle from her.-Of course, I'll wait for you there then. She was silent for a few minutes, when she spoke again:-Lauren? Yes, she's here. Alright, I'll go with her to the restaurant. Camila said goodbye to her husband in an affectionate way before putting the phone on the desk.-He wants you to take me to a restaurant. We're going out to lunch.-Okay, I'll take you to the cuckold.Lunch went by slowly and tortuous. Camila and I maintained a trivial conversation while Christopher continued glued to his phone, alternating between some mouthfuls of his Italian pasta. The man seemed to be trying to divide himself into an army to take care of so many subjects. After some insi
