SAM'S POV I rummaged through my head to recall a time, any time at all that I had seen Celeste in her wolf form, but there was none. Then it occurred to me, when I first returned to the palace, I had heard rumors of the Alpha's weak mate who was an Omega, and had never had any sort of connection with her wolf form. So she wasn't an Omega after all. Her wolf....her wolf was stunningly beautiful. A type of beauty that distracts. Don't get me wrong, Celeste as her person is drop-dead gorgeous but there is something about the silver furred wolf that cannot be described. The word beautiful felt so light and unjustifiable for how she looked. Not just me and Killian, even Malthus halted to have an eyeful. The witches stopped chanting, Kaiden raised his head from beside them to have a better glimpse and the whole room seemed to have agreed on a single motive for the first time tonight. To half appreciate the magnificence of this wolf. We did, however, snap out of it rather too quickly af
SAM'S POV "The rest of the commanders will surely hold them off while we deal with Malthus, I don't remember the witches being much, I am sure they are not going to become a major issue." "I will hold onto your words for that. Let's go and get this over with, shall we?" Logan responded through the mindlink. "For Killian," I whispered, almost to myself but he heard. "For Killian." He nodded in agreement as I followed behind him through the throne room. The scene we walked into was quite interesting, but overall, it was not what I expected. Killian, whom we have left weak and unconscious on the floor, was now standing on his feet, snarling at Malthus's wolf while Celeste on the other hand was on the floor, flat and cold. "What the fuck happened here, and you told me the witches are keeping Malthus in check?" I blurted at Logan through the mindlink while searching the room for Victor and Kaiden. Victor was nowhere to be found but I spotted Kaiden, clearly wounded and lying silently
SAM'S POVThe black shadow writhed in the air for a while, moving around aimlessly with the wind. Celeste and a few others had rushed to where Killian lay, but for some reason, I couldn't take my eyes off the vapour, I believe it isn't just about to disappear into thin air and that was it. And my suspicions were proved right when it spiraled upward before crashing violently on the ground, hitting the polished ground with a sound like crackling bone. Under my watchful eyes, the mist slowly bled into shape, taking the form of a hulking wolf. I moved back a bit, overtaken by my horror. Intending to notify the rest without bringing his attention to me. He was still forming, gradually, the black fur so dark it seemed to be feeding from the little light within. His head lifted before I could reach the group around Killian, eyes no longer black but like a molten gold rimmed in crimson. He looked around, taking note of everyone around the room just at the same time Kaiden had turned around
SAM'S POVThe minute Celeste and Malthus touched each half of the moonstone, something exciting and bizarre happened. The two pieces of the moonstone jolted away from both their hands. The piece closest to Malthus sprang into the air on its own accord, glowing and gliding mid-air. Then it jolted straight at Malthus and fussed into his chest before either of us could react. Everything happened within a heartbeat. Everyone apart from the witches, seemed to have no idea what was currently going on. The other half of the moonstone flew into Celeste's palm and embedded itself in her palm. I also noticed the birthmark on her back starting to glow. Malthus's wolf roared into the night, glaring precisely at her as his gaze moved gradually until it was fixed on the half moonstone in her hand. It was going to attack her. And half the moonstone was already in its possession, I am sure it would stop at nothing until it gets what it wants. That's for sure. So I surged forward, ready to defend h
CELESTE'S POVI screamed with every fibre of my being, not because I was scared of the harm he could cause but because I was prepared and motivated to face whatever he was going to inflict. His sharp razor-like teeth laced around the moonstone, biting into my fingers in the process but the pain was simply nothing in comparison to the sheer fury I was feeling. I would not let him win. Malthus would not take control of my world. Fuelled by those words, I somehow managed to yank my hand away from his mouth, the moonstone still intact but I wasn't sure about my fingers. He doesn't give me time to celebrate that, he went for my hand again, roaring and diddging his claws into my skin. I would not let him win. I would never let him take control. "I will not let you gain a victory against me!!!" I roared with all my might, managing to push him off me. I jolted up and bolted toward the nearest exit. I need to get the moonstone as far away from him as I can. But I merely took two steps befo
CELESTE'S POVMy knuckles would probably need time to heal from how hard I had tightened them. Waiting for the beast to gain strength and attack first was so taunting, but even when Sam pointed out that it had opened its eyes and we could attack now, the Witches were adamant that we hold on until it fully took control of Killian's body. So we waited, for another twenty minutes or thereabout, until he finally jolted up and landed on his four feet, growling and grating the wooden floor with his claws. One of the witches chose that exact time to hand over the moonstone back to me. "Keep this with you..." She said, "When it is the right time to make use of it, you will be aware." And that was it. They held each other's hands tightly and began to chant in the usual, unfamiliar language, their voices rising with each word they pronounced. Malthus's wolf was torn between going for the moonstone in my hand or for the witches who had begun to chant an enchantment that was probably working a
