Raine's POV

I kept looking at my phone, staring at the messages Alpha Desmond sent me.

He texted me when he got home after dropping me off at Sienna's two evenings ago. I responded once, before I became carried away with the scarf I knitted for Sienna. Then yesterday morning, I was busy packing my stuff to go back home. Now, I still couldn't respond to his texts because of the irrational fear that he might see through the text and realize that I was a monster.

Desmond Montari—he never chose Dav

Raine's POVI entered the pack house library to find Damson sitting at a table, immersed in a book, his laptop closed beside it. It wasn't a new sight, as reading was a hobby of his. But this was different, and I could tell from the tension on his shoulders and the tight lines on his face when he turned to look at me.I walked to the seat facing him and sank into it."Did you get something concrete?" I asked, but my answer was obvious from the way his hands clenched on the book, I felt bad for the poor spine."How long have you known?" He looked at me strangely, and I struggled to decipher the emotions in his eyes."It's been a while.""How long, Raine?" I flinched at the tone of his voice. I wasn't used to him talking to me that way."I don't know exactly. About two years. More? I can't tell. But it's been a while.""And you never said anything? You let that dog come back to my mother, after... After... Fuck!" He ran his hands through his hair, eyes wide with frustration. "Why didn't

  • Alpha's Obsession: His caged Luna    Chapter 37: Mama

Desmond's POVMy mood had dropped so much by the time I got to my pack house. I didn't bother to see anyone or even go to my room. Instead, I walked straight to my office.I stood by the table for a while, my heart squeezing. I was staring down at a framed picture of my mother. I'd taken it, and I remembered the exact day. She was about to attend an event with her friend, and she knew she looked so good, so she asked me to take a picture.Yesterday had been her death anniversary. I'd given her flowers and spoken some words to her, as I usually did every year.My Dad had come in the evening, looking like he was about to spiral. As much as the man annoyed the fuck out of me, I stayed back to take care of him before going over to Raine's pack. He'd had so much to drink already, and he would not stop throwing hurtful words at me. He would not stop blaming me for her death. It's been eight years, and he still hated me for it."If you can hear me, mama," I swallowed through the prickle in m

Raine's POVAfter Desmond left, I began to think about our plan. My father would be returning tomorrow, which meant that my mom and Alpha Matthias would try to make the most of today.I went to down to the kitchen, to get myself a cup of coffee. Coincidentally, I found Alpha Matthias there, and he was just leaving. But he stopped when he saw me.As usual, anxiety tightened my nerves. This man had been harassing me for years with no one to defend me. I was scared of him. I never truly defended myself against him. The last time I tried to defend myself, I killed someone and the guilt had shaped my entire life since then. So I always try to walk away instead. But today I stood, still scared as hell. But he was a werewolf, even an Alpha. I wouldn't kill him easily."Lorraine baby, come to see me?" He showed me one of those grins that always made my skin crawl. "I asked you to come see me in my office days ago, why didn't you come?""Because I'm not trying to get assaulted by a shameless o

Desmond's POV I was tempted to forget about what I said earlier, and just get Raine out of that night robe and not leave her until her thighs were trembling. But I allowed reason prevail. The goddess should definitely reward me for this choice alone. "Give it to me." She stretched out her hand, truly requesting for my shirt. Was this what it meant to have a mate? She could just decide to take your clothes at any time? "I should walk out of here shirtless?" Raine smirked. "Random people are going to see me. I've already made enough fool of myself during that ball." Her smile fell. "I'm not going to let you do that. I have another for you." Oh, that sparked my interest. She went into her closet and returned with her arms full of knitted wools. She placed the pile on her bed, before searching for one. Then she took out one brown shirt with white seams and matching shorts. It was so beautifully done that I was certain it would cost a lot. "You bought me these," she said with a smile

Raine's POVI opened my eyes to the sound of knocking on the door. I attempted to get up, only for my movement to be restricted by a solid weight all around me. It took me a moment to register what the weight was. The scent, comfort, and how relaxed my wolf was. It could only be my mate. He fucking slept over.I was lying at my side, face pressed into his chest, one leg tangled up in the middle of his, one strong arm wrapping over my waist. I wanted to stay in this position forever. The knock came again."Ignore it."A shiver ran down my spine.I'd always found Desmond's voice sexy, but hearing it first thing in the morning was a whole different issue. There was that groggy rasp to it that made me want him to go down on me again while talking me through it. As if his scent and solid presence wasn't enough temptation already, now he had to sound like that. It didn't help that he was shirtless and on my bed. What if I tell him that I wanted him to go down on me? I was certain he wouldn'

  • Alpha's Obsession: His caged Luna    Chapter 33: Not a monster

Raine's POVThis was one defining moment in my life. I had never admitted what I just admitted to Desmond to any other person, and I swore never to. I was ashamed of it. Who wouldn't be? I put on the perfect facade for so long that I almost forgot that I was in fact, not a good person by any means.I waited for Desmond's response, my heart in my throat, my fists tightly curled around my dress under the sheets as I waited for him to say anything. He would probably want nothing to do with me now, but it's better than his silence. My mind went to that day and my mother's reaction when she found out.====='You killed a boy,' mom whispered to me after she managed to sneak me back inside, her voice accusing. 'You killed someone, Lorraine.''It was a mistake,' seventeen year old me cried, my entire body trembling violently. 'I didn't mean to. I wasn't thinking. My wolf attacked.' Yes, I was too young to have a wolf, so it even took me by surprise. 'I... I tried to push him off me, but Jonat

Desmond's POVIt'd been four days since the feud with my father. He didn't call me to apologize, and I didn't care. I never looked forward to his calls anyway. Raine's POVStaying with Sienna was the best thing that had happened to me in a very long time. Raine's POV I had no idea what to think about this situation. I was already angry about what happened at the ball, and then he made up a story to tell me.
