Chapter 5: Bond Recognition

Darian's POV

"Alpha Darian, it has been over three months since we brought to your knowledge the issue of not having an heir to your throne. Mind you, our decision still hasn't changed. If sooner you don't present to us the heir to your throne, we are going to take your pack away from you and give it to another Alpha who can produce an heir who will take over after his reign," one of the supreme Alphas said to me.

The Alpha Council has summoned me and other Alphas from seven different packs for an important meeting. Once I received the message, I knew that it was because of me that they organized the meeting.

The last time we organized the meeting, it was to congratulate me for helping the Alpha of Bloodmoon pack recover his pack from the hands of Rogues, who took him by surprise, and to also let him know that two territories in his pack will be under my control because that was the prize the Alpha council promised to pay any Alpha who succeeded in recovering the pack for him. At the end of the meeting, the supreme Alphas also informed me of my own fate too; they were going to take away my pack from me and give it to another Alpha if I don't soon present to them the heir to my throne. I could clearly see the joy written all over the faces of the other Alphas; they all hated me because I'm the strongest among all of them, and they couldn't wait to take over my pack, but unfortunately for them, I wasn't going to allow that to happen; the news I'm about to announce to them might blow their minds.

"Actually, my lord, I have good news that I have been wanting to announce to you all, but I was patiently waiting for the next meeting because I knew that would be the perfect timing to announce this important news," I said to the supreme Alphas.

"And what is this important news you want to announce to us, Alpha Darian? I hope it has something to do with the heir apparent to your throne?" One of the supreme Alphas asked me.

"Definitely, my lord," I replied with full confidence.

"Okay then, we are all ears," one of the supreme Alphas said to me.

"Well, the good news is that I have found my mate, and she's already three months pregnant, and in three months time she's going to bear me the heir to my throne," I said to them confidently.

I could clearly see the shock written all over the faces of the other Alphas, who would have believed that the ruthless Alpha Darian has finally found his mate, and in addition to that, she's also pregnant.

Actually, I just found out about it the previous night when I went to visit Elena in her room. I wanted to tell her about it, but I don't know why I didn't, despite the fact that Shadow, my wolf, was urging me to tell her. It's probably because of how harshly I have been treating her since she started leaving the palace with me. I don't even know how she is going to take it. The beast who has made her life a living hell is turning out to be his mate; surely that will give her more reasons to despise me.

"Wow! That's really good news, Alpha Darian; that means that your pack isn't going to be given to anyone," one of the supreme Alphas said to me, jerking me back to reality.

"Congratulations, Alpha Darian; we can't wait to see who is going to take after the mighty Alpha Darian." One of the supreme Alphas said to me, and immediately I smiled at him before turning my gaze towards Benson, the Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack.

"Alpha Benson, you seem not to be happy because of the good news that I just announced," I said to him with a cunning smile.

"I can see that you are very happy, Alpha Darian, because you have found your mate, and soon she will be giving birth to the heir of the throne. But don't be too happy, Alpha Darian, because sooner or later, I will find a way to make you pay for snatching my territories away from me. I never asked for your help, but just as usual, you went and played tough Alpha because you know that by doing so, some of my territories will be given to you," he said to me with a stern tone.

"I hope that you aren't threatening me, Alpha Benson, because if I were in your shoes, you would have done exactly the same thing that I did; so mind how you talk to me because even the supreme Alphas won't stop me from waging war against your weak pack if I desire, and you know what that can mean for you." I threatened him, my eyes peering into his, but he remained silent.

"Enough of all these, both of you," Ethan, the Alpha of the Redmoon Pack, said to us while placing hands on my shoulder, and immediately I glared at him angrily, and he quickly removed his hand from my shoulder.

After the meeting, I quickly mounted my horse and started heading back to the palace while thinking of how I was going to inform Elena that she's my mate and also apologize to her for all my cruelty towards her. As I was still wondering how she was going to react when I informed her, I still couldn't help but wonder if she too wasn't aware that I'm here, mate, or if she knew but decided to keep it to herself because of my cruelty towards her. Even if she did, I still had myself to blame for it.

It didn't take long before I and the guards who had accompanied me to the Alpha Council returned to the palace.

Once I got down from my horse, I started heading towards her room with her heart raising heavily. Surprisingly, this was the first time I had ever felt like this towards someone.

Once I got to the front of the door of her room, I waited and knocked, unlike other times when I would barge into the room without even knocking.

After some minutes of waiting, I got no response, and immediately I knocked again while calling out to her, but still I got no response.

In order to ensure myself that nothing bad had happened to her, I slowly turned the knuckle of the door and opened it, and once I got in, what I saw next almost choked me; she wasn't in the room, and the only little luggage she brought with her the day she came to the palace wasn't in the room either.
