Chapter 0004

Mabel’s POV…

I yelled at the top of my voice, unable to control myself. “What did you come here to see me for, huh? To mock me? Or to tell me that you’ve succeeded in taking what never belonged to you.”

“Mabel, calm down, please,” Cillian begged.

“Don’t you dare tell me to calm down!” I turned back to Caitlin. “Something doesn’t seem right about you. I can sniff it, even from a mile away. I don’t know whatever your intentions are, but I guarantee you won’t succeed, not while I’m in this pack.”

“I have no evil intentions, Luna Mabel, and I would never try to take your husband.”

“Then why would you lie with him knowing fully well you were on heat?”

“I was also drunk that night. I asked my servant to mix my drink without anyone knowing. I tried to hide it from my father because I knew I might get punished for it. As I bade him goodnight at the feast, he gave me one final assignment for the day; to escort Alpha Cillian to his chambers and make sure he doesn’t fall off the stairs or something. I didn’t want to tell my father I was also drunk, so I agreed to do it. I don’t remember who made the first move when I entered his room, but I can’t assure that it was me. Same as the confession he gave, I don’t remember anything that happened that night.” She spoke so innocently, giving her side of the story.

I laughed. “You both must think I am so stupid to believe all this, so you want to tell me that none of you knew when you were fucking each other? Clowns.”

“Mabel, please. I don’t know how many times it would take to convince you that I would never hurt you, but I will never get tired of doing it,” Cillian persuaded.

“Please, Luna Mabel,” Caitlin added. “You can hate me, but please don’t hate Alpha Cillian. He is a kind-hearted man and I would never do anything to come between you both. I would never take your mate.”

“Then why are you here?”

“Only because of my father, but after I give birth, I will hand the baby over and leave. I hope this will be enough to convince you that I have no interest in taking your mate.”

Her tone was so soft, compared to my harsh tone. If you were just watching us for the first time, you’d have thought that they were the victims of betrayal, not me. It now looked as if I would be seen as a bad person if I didn’t forgive them. I honestly didn’t know what to do at this point, but my wolf would. Thank the goddess it came to me at this point. I’d shut out my wolf these past few days because of what happened. Even though it wasn’t her fault, I was mad at her for making me love Cillian so deeply, resulting in me getting hurt after what he did.

“So what do you say. What should I do at this point?” I asked her.

“Oh! So now you want to talk,” she scoffed.

“I’m sorry for shutting you out. It was wrong of me to do so, but please now really I need your help, and it involves the same situation I was mad at you for. My head is a mess at this point.”

My wolf didn’t answer, ignoring me. I would deal with her later, but now I needed to say something to these two not to appear like I’d lost it.

“I will think about forgiving you two, but in the meantime, please give me enough space to clear my head. I hope that you both will be gone by the time I come back.”

I took a stroll to the pack gardens, lost in my thoughts of whether I should accept Caitlin staying here with my mate’s baby. I shivered whenever the picture of Cillian dicking another woman came to my mind. I never thought it would be possible for him to cheat. His love for me seemed so deep and strong, at least that’s what I thought.

My wolf ears suddenly picked the sound of three servants gossiping nearby. Normally, I don’t bother myself with their chit-chats, but this particular chit-chat was about me. I listened in on them.

“Oh, so it’s true. Alpha Cillian has gotten tired of waiting and decided to take in another wife,” one said.

“This is so horrible. I feel so sorry for Luna Mabel. Only the goddess can give children. She does not deserve any of this,” another replied.

“I don’t feel sorry for her. She knew what she was getting into when she married the Alpha. She should have known that her greatest responsibility was to give him an heir as soon as they got married. The minute she observed that that wasn’t going to happen, she should have tried other alternatives, even if it meant spreading her legs for someone else.”

The second servant tapped her hand. “Prisca! How can you say such a thing? The Luna is a faithful wife and you know she’ll lose her respect and status if she ever got caught doing that.”

“She still ended up losing it by doing nothing,” Prisca defended. “Another woman will take her place in a few months. She should have done it in secret and made sure that no one ever found out, anything to preserve her status.”

“I don’t think that even matters anymore. She might not have had a child even if she cheated,” the first servant said. “For the Alpha to impregnate another woman so easily, it means the fault is from her, not him. I don’t think she will ever be able to mother a child.”

Their talks got me sick to my stomach, and I knew that I would never forgive myself if I let these ladies get away with their gossip.

“I would like to know from where you got the info that someone else would be taking my place,” I said aloud, coming out of my hiding place.

The three ladies where shocked out of their wits to see me. They began to tremble like thieves who’d just been caught stealing.
