Arthur’s POV

Liz was asleep in the bed, or as close to sleep as someone like her could get.

She lay curled beneath the sheets, her ghostly form flickering faintly in the soft light of the lamp. Peaceful. Still. As if death hadn’t stolen the colour from her skin or the warmth from her bones. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear she was alive, dreaming like anyone else.

But I knew.

Goddess, I knew.

I sat at the desk, elbow propped, head bowed over a book filled with faded ink and half-translated spells. Ancient magic. Lost magic. Dangerous magic. I flipped through page after page, hoping for something, anything, that might explain what had tethered her here, what my blood had done to her, allowing her to be able to touch.

I’d always believed the Moon Goddess had passed me by when it came to finding my fated mate. That I’d been overlooked. Or punished. I’d made peace with it. Until Liz.

Until I felt that bond rip through me.

It hadn’t come gently. It hadn’t whispered or eased its way into

Liz’s POVI held my breath as Arthur’s eyes swept across the street, closer and closer, until it was almost on me. My heart pounded so hard I thought it might tear out of my chest. Just one more second. One more heartbeat, and he would see me.But before his eyes found mine, she moved.Angelica slipped her hand up to his cheek and pulled him toward her. And then, before I could even blink, her lips were on his.The world shattered. The air rushed out of me in a soundless gasp, and pain ripped through my chest so violently it felt like my soul was splintering apart. I stood frozen, watching my mate kiss another. It didn’t matter that she wore my skin, that she had stolen my face. To everyone else, it looked like it was me. To Arthur, it was me.And the bond inside me burned until it turned hollow. My knees buckled, giving out beneath me. I hit the ground hard, my palms scraping against stone, but I barely felt it. Tears streamed down my face, blurring my vision, choking me. My body tr

liz’s povAlice helped me outside, her arm wrapped around my waist, holding me up. My body shivered as the cold air hit me, but I welcomed it. It reminds me that I was still alive. We hadn’t gone far when Vincent appeared from the trees. He stopped in front of us, his eyes shifting to me. “You couldn’t wait, could you?” he said.“She’s stubborn,” Alice answered for me, shaking her head.Vincent smirked playfully. “Must run in the family.” “Take me to them,” I said, with no hesitation in my voice. He studied me for a second, then gave a nod. Without a word, he scooped me up into his arms, and the world blurred as he took off. Before I knew it, we were in town. The familiar streets of Arthur’s and what was meant to be my pack. Vincent ducked into an alleyway, setting me gently on my feet.Alice arrived a second later, a dark cloak in her hands. She thrust it toward me. “Put this on. It might buy you some time before Angelica notices you.”I slipped it on, pulling the hood over my head

liz’s povWhen I opened my eyes again, the fire was still burning. Alice was there, sitting close, and Vincent was beside her.I pushed myself up slowly, my body screamed with old aches and pains I don't think I'll ever get us to, but the ache inside me was different now. Alice handed me a glass of water. My hands shook as I took it from her.“How are you feeling?” she asked.I took a sip. “Just tired,” I admitted, setting the glass down. “But I can’t stay here, Alice. I need to go to Arthur.”Her brows furrowed. “Liz—”“No,” I said firmly, meeting her eyes. “If anyone can find a way to help me, it’s him. I know it. He won’t stop until he does. and I… I can’t sit here while she’s out there wearing my face.” My chest tightened at the thought of Angelica smiling at the people I loved, making me sick. “I have to protect them. all of them… I won’t let her hurt them.”Alice reached for my hand and squeezed it. “You need your rest. And we don't know what she's planning yet.”I would not le

Angelica’s POVIt was exhausting, pretending to be her. Holding my lips in those gentle curves, softening my eyes with that practised warmth. They all drank it in so easily: the desperate brother, the tearful parents, the little friend clinging to hope. Their relief was almost too sweet. They wanted to believe so badly. And belief made them blind. It made me sick to think that someone as delicate as her had come from someone like me.I turned slowly in the room, letting my eyes drag across everything, taking it all in. His room or our room now. She had all this because of me, because I chose not to kill her before she even had the chance to take her first breath. Walking over to the door, I pressed my ear to it, the sound of Arthur's muffled voice on the other side only just reaching my ears. A smile came to my lips. He was smarter than I thought. I saw the suspicion in his eyes the moment he touched me, it was written all over his face. Faking the bond wolves shared was the one t

Arthur’s POV“Come,” I said, taking Liz's hand and guiding her away from everyone. “You should rest.”She nodded, a smile curving her lips, and I guided her through the corridors until we reached our room. The whole time I watched her out of the corner of my eye, something was different about her. The way she looked at everything was like she was seeing it all for the first time. I stopped outside the door before opening it and stepping to the side, letting her step inside first.Liz moved slowly into the room. She looked at it all like a stranger walking into a place she didn’t belong. “You should sleep,” I told her gently. “You’ve been through enough.”She turned back to me, that same careful smile on her lips, and nodded. “Yes… You’re right.”Even the tone of her voice sounded wrong.I forced myself to step back; every inch of me wanted to stay with her, to make sure she was safe, but I couldn't. “I have work to do,” I said. “But I’ll be back soon.”Her eyes followed me. “Of cour

  • Alpha's Regret After I Died    Chapter 191

Liz’s POVWhen I opened my eyes, the cold was gone. I was lying on something softer than stone, wrapped in a blanket that smelled faintly of pine and smoke. My body still ached.I blinked slowly, my vision adjusting to the flicker of firelight. We were in a small cabin. My breath shuddered out as I realised I was safe. Slowly sitting up, I took everything in around me until my eyes landed on the girl who had saved me. Alice smiled faintly. “You’re awake.”“I need to get back to Arthur,” I said, the words spilling out before I could stop them. My voice was hoarse, torn from everything I’d been through, but it carried the only truth that mattered to me, and that was how much I needed to be with Arthur.Alice leaned closer, her eyes softening, her hand resting gently on mine. “You will,” she said firmly. “I promise you will. But not tonight. Right now, you need rest. You’re safe here with us.”My thoughts wouldn’t stop turning, going around and around, replaying every second I was in tha
