Helena’s P.O.V.

“Please write Helena and Zayden on the cake, Mr. Max.”

The bakery owner was arguing for the past five minutes to write Alpha and Luna on the cake instead. I wasn’t a Luna yet; the love of my Pack mates really warmed my heart.

“It’s your second wedding anniversary, Luna Helena. Alpha will arrange a Luna Ceremony soon.”

Old Max blessed me with countless best wishes and eventually agreed to accept my request. It was an intimate moment for me and my perfect husband, Alpha Zayden, how could I add worldly positions to ruin this.

I was planning to buy a nice present after ordering the cake, but Beta Alex informed me.

“Luna Helena, Alpha is calling you to the office.”

“Such an impatient man!”

Zayden’s husky whispers from breakfast echoed in my mind, his lovely gestures made me forget to tell him about my failing health.

“I will ask Liam for an appointment with the Head doctor.”

My twin brother Liam was studying medicine in a college, his skill in medicinal techniques was our wolf-less brother-sister’s pride. I rode Beta Alex’s Mercedes to the Pack house and walked towards Alpha’s office on the third floor.

On my way, I replied to everyone’s greetings with a gentle smile, their glimmering faces depicted their love for Alpha. As I entered the main corridor, flirtatious laughter slithered in my ears.

“You are the same Zayn I met three years ago. You haven’t changed a bit.”

This symphony was a bombshell of realization, my mind went blank for a moment. I barged into Alpha’s office without permission, a deadly beauty sitting by my husband’s side confirmed my deepest dreads.

“Sylvia?”

How could I forget this woman? My husband’s ex-fiancé, Sylvia, was an heir of a famous Alpha bloodline, her confidence was challenging me with their exemplary love before my marriage.

“You should knock on the door first!”

Zayden’s Alpha tone boomed in the office; his serious voice was as magnetic as his Samson-like personality. His raven locks were a deadly addition to his fair skin, the devil-may-care look was his significant feature.

But his cold tone made me feel strange, he never asked me to knock before.

“My apologies, Zayden. Beta Alex conveyed to me your message, what can I do for you?”

“You have to arrange a room for Sylvia’s stay here.”

As his wife, it was my duty to welcome his guests; otherwise, my sixth sense was hinting me to kick her ass out.

“I will ask the servants to prepare a guest room in the Pack house for our honorable guest. Sylvia, please feel…”

Zayden raised his brow and cut me off.

“I wasn’t done with my command, Helena!”

I gulped a lump in my throat with great difficulty, as Zayden rose from his spot, his 1.94 m frame was appearing mightier than usual. He stretched his palm before Sylvia, which she gladly held, and spoke in an unsmiling voice.

“I said that you will clean Savvy’s room, as she is the true Luna of the Moon Howlers Pack. No one knows it better than you. Isn’t it?”

Zayden’s icy, echoing voice slithered into my ears, he excluded an air of detachment. My heart sank, as these words hit my mind like a sledgehammer. I almost cried out.

“I am your wife, Zayden. Why are you talking to me like this?”

“Wife?”

The corner of his lips curled up in a mean smirk and suddenly, his emerald green eyes were ablaze with rage.

“Sylvia is standing right before your eyes and still, you have the guts to call yourself Luna?

You were right, Savvy. Strong evidence is required to confront a shameless person like her.”

My mind was wheezing under the storm of shocking events, first Sylvia, and now evidence of my non-existent crime. No problem, I didn’t commit any crime in my life.

Zayden took out an envelope from his black coat pocket and threw it over my face.

“This evidence has shown me your true colors, Helena. You hid your scheming nature so well that I never suspected your acting! What a fool I was!”

I opened the letter with trembling hands, my vision was getting blurry because of tears pooling in my eyes.

“Alpha Zayden,

Please allow me to apologize to you for the offense I have committed.

Two years ago, a mother-daughter couple approached me to hit a black car and offered twenty thousand dollars for it. I accepted this offer to save my mate’s life, her critical situation forced me to assist them.

But when I came to know that this evil plan was made by your wife Helena and her mother, I realized the gravity of my sin. In addition to attacking the Alpha couple, I was tricked into breaking your marriage to Miss Sylvia, it crushed my heart with regret.

This is the money and gemstone necklace they gave me after work.

I hope you can forgive me for my crime.

Sam.”

“This is fake!”

My head blew away with the absurdity of this letter, I stepped forward and placed my hand on his cheek.

“Please trust me, Zayden. I don’t know any person with this name. I…”

Zayden jerked my hand away and thundered in fury.

“How dare you question an Alpha’s conduct? You think I am a stupid who is unaware of the word investigation!”

Then, he flashed a small plastic bag containing a delicate gemstone necklace.

“Everything can be fake, but not this necklace. Isn’t it the same rare moonstone necklace which your father gifted to your mother?”

The intensity of this shock rendered me speechless; I kept looking at him wide-eyed. The contempt, accusation, and now this fake evidence was not enough for him, Zayden held my chin tightly and spat out.

“You and your mother deliberately planned to replace Sylvia from Luna’s position. You even used your mother’s death to achieve all this for you. You disgust me, Helena!”

My hand flew to my mouth to muffle an involuntary shriek.

“What?”

I stepped back, as his hurtful words pierced through my heart. How could he slander my dead mother like this?

“My mother sacrificed her life to save mom and dad, it wasn’t a conspiracy.”

I tried to sound defensive, but my shaky voice deserted me, revealing my emotional injury to amuse Sylvia. She placed her head on Zayden’s wide chest and mocked me with a suggestive wiggle of her brows.

I felt my throat tighten up, as all my efforts could barely hold back the tears that threatened to spill. Zayden might have spotted tears in my eyes, as a look of great bitterness swept across his face.

“Stop pretending!

You knew that I was already engaged with Savvy, but still, you squeeze yourself into my life. Do you know how unfair is this to me?”

He wrapped his arm around Sylvia’s slender waist, hatred, and distrust were clearly written on his face. His accusing glare was shooting flaring daggers at me, slashing my soul into pieces.

Tears ran down my eyes, as I closed them, my lips wobbled when an incoherent begging escaped my mouth.

“I didn’t. Please…”

Zayden disregarded my “Please”, like I was a convicted criminal, his Alpha tone reverberated in the office.

“Arrest this vile woman!”

“No!”

My frail knees refused to bear my weight anymore, I landed on the ground with a loud thud.

“You can’t do this to me, Zayden. I am your wife. We love each other!”

I begged meekly and tried to grab his leg, but he stepped back and pushed me aside. As Beta Alex was hesitant to arrest me, Zayden roared in anger.

“Lock this woman in the death cell. I don’t want to see her again.”
