LOGINErica's POV
I was in pain as they were kicking me in my abdomen. I screamed, "Please let me go!" They were stubborn, ready to kill me. I gathered my courage and pushed the two men away and started running. I was alone on the border, and two rogues were following me to kill. I had no idea how I reached here. I had no weapons with me to defend myself. I was an omega who did not have the strength to fight against the two men. But soon, another two men started to rush in my direction. They grabbed me. A punch landed on my cheek. "Ahh!" My face turned, and I felt my jaw break. The four men gathered together. I saw lust in their eyes, which scared me to death. A man's hand reached my dress; he was ready to tear it when the other man stopped him. "He is Alpha Justin's mate. We can't use her body. But we can do what we are told to do." Then, as if it enraged them to damp their lust, they started hitting me more. I cried, begging them not to hit me. But they kept hitting me, kicking me, and telling me to die. "Leave her!" A familiar voice came to my ear. I turned my head and saw my nanny, Salma, rushing in my direction. "Let her go!" she yelled at them. They got mad to see her. One of them pushed her away and then grabbed my hair. He had a stone in his hand, and he was ready to hit my head with that stone. My eyes widened in shock. With pain and fear, I screamed. "Ahhh!" And then… My eyes flung open, and I jolted awake. I looked around myself, and I realized I was having the same nightmare again. But it was the reality that I felt that night at the border six months ago. My body was full of sweat. I heaved a sigh and glanced at the window. "Oh, no!" It was already morning! I glanced around the house and saw no one. "Where is Kael? Didn't he say he would wake me up?" I got mad. How could he be so irresponsible? The whole night I was sleeping! I missed my night shift! Fear rose in my heart. I thought about my nanny, Salma. What if Justin would punish her for me? I took a quick shower and put on another simple white dress that I wore here. The color of the white dresses faded from the dirt of my regular hard work. Looking at my empty house, I was confused. "Where is Kael? Did he leave? Why did he not wake me up before leaving?" I wondered if he was okay. I could not forget how he helped my wounds. "My wounds..." My eyes went larger when I glanced at my hands and found them healed. I looked at my legs and saw they were healed too. "I have been here for six months; I know about many herbs that can heal wounds faster. But herbs like that powerful which can heal wounds overnight? I never knew about it!" I wanted to thank Kael, but he left me without saying a word. An unknown itchy feeling grabbed my inside for that strange man. Suddenly, I heard someone knocking on the door. I rushed to the door, thinking it was Kael. "Where were yo—" I paused when I saw it was not Kael but Lima, the companion whom I got here. She never hurt me or insulted me like others. She was always nice to me, and she was also wrongly framed like me. "Were you waiting for me? How did you know I was coming here?" Lima asked with a surprised look. I shook my head in response. "Well..." I paused for a moment, then said, "I thought you were here because you learned from others that I didn't go for my night shift." Lima tilted her head. "No, Erica. Don't worry about your shift. No punishment today," she said with a not so happy tone. "Why?" I asked, confused. "Because an important guest is coming here to visit today, so everyone is busy thinking about how to please that guest." "Oh, do you know who the important guest is?" I mumbled. She looked away from me. I raised my brows and held her hand. "What happened?" She gave me a look of pure sympathy. "It’s Alpha Justin.” I stared at her, stunned. The name hit me like a blow. Not him. Anyone but him. He was the one man I swore I would never see again. There was no way I would go and see that man. “I am not going,” I told Lima. You don't have a choice, Erica. The supervisors called you personally. Just hold it together for one day. If you won't go, they will be mad and give you punishment for not listening to them." I didn't fear it. My fear was for my nanny and her life. I took a deep breath and gave in. Before leaving the house, I glanced at the mirror. My body became frail, my skin sallow and hardened. The beauty I once had was gone, buried under skin that had grown as tough as the life I was living. - I was late. By the time I arrived the prisoners were already lined up in a silent assembly. I moved only to see the ranks broke, everyone filtering off to their daily duty. I made my way to join them, but my supervisor blocked my path. She thrust a heavy tray into my hands. "Change of plans," he barked. "Take this to the headquarters office.” “But my duty…” “This is your duty today,” she replied. I held the tray tightly, glancing at the glasses and a transparent kettle of water. Lima waved at me as she went for her duty. I gulped and proceeded to the headquarters office. When I reached the office, the door swung open and I collided straight into a woman. The tray buckled in my grip, causing the glasses and kettle to fall on the floor. The noise caused everyone outside the office turn their heads at me. But I looked at the woman who bumped into me. Nova… “Oh, look who's here! The troublemaker murderer,” she muttered, glaring at me. She became more youthful, beautiful, and alluring in the last six months. “What are you looking at? Clean the mess right now,” she ordered. I could not move as I stared at her. She was the one who wrongly framed, making my life hell here. "Eyes down and clean it up!” She gritted. I did not want to have any trouble. So I crouched low, keeping my head down. I stared to gather the jagged shards of glass, ignoring the sting as I piled them back onto the tray. When I began to wipe the floor with a small cloth, Nova pressed her heel on my hand. It was so painful that I could not hold my scream. “Ahh!” My scream grabbed everyone's attention, including the rulers and the man who was also there seated with them inside the large office. “Is there a problem, Miss Blackwood?” One of the rulers asked from inside. Nova quickly moved her shoe away from my hand. Before she could even open her mouth, the rulers marched toward the door with that man. The man's eyes fell on me, and he stepped forward. I slowly raised my head. I froze, my body turning to ice as I looked into his eyes. ‘Justin’Erica's POVI felt a sharp pain in my throat. My head was aching too. There was a familiar scent that hit my nose, causing me to sniff. My eyes were heavier, but I tried to open my eyes. When I opened my eyes, I saw I was in bed. I looked around. My brows frowned, realizing that it was not my bedroom.I sat up immediately. My eyes widened in shock.I recognized the room. It was Prince Adam's room!No one was in the room. I was all alone.I glanced at myself, finding I was still in full clothes. My hands flew to my mouth to slap my lips."Have you gone crazy? Why did you think such silly things? He is the prince; how can he think about spending the night with me?" I murmured.I realized I was thinking less of myself while thinking about him. But once upon a time, I used to hate him and think of him very lowly. My eyes shifted to the balcony glass door. From the bed, I could only see the right side of it.The sky was black. It looked like I didn't take much time to get back to conscious
I froze at his question. The cold breeze touched my hands, which were on my sides. I held my gaze at him, trying to understand why he kept asking me about Justin.I wanted to tell him that I never wanted to go back to Justin. I didn't want freedom to get back to a man who betrayed me.However, Prince Adam's eyes held hatred for me. The rage in them was mockingly sinister. Before I could answer, he had already declared it."I never said that," I replied in a low tone.My eyes blurred. I didn't want to fear this man. But his grip was really tight. His long and strong fingers wrapped around my neck like he wanted to clench my soul from my body."Then why are you pretending like this?" he asked, his teeth gritting.I blinked. My tears fell on my cheeks. I was feeling pain in my neck, but the pain in my heart was unbearable. I had no other intention toward him.As if he were losing his patience, his grip tightened even more."I..."I couldn't speak as I started to feel heavy from his grip.
Prince Adam looked surprised. He glanced at the rose with a puzzled gaze. His eyes shifted to me."Are you giving a beast a rose?" he asked, his voice cold as if it was offensive.I sighed, giving him a nod. "If you keep calling yourself a beast, then what to say? Rose is a sign of purity. The scent of fresh roses can heal the inner stress. It is good for the mind and will give a peaceful sleep."He didn't take it. I thought he didn't like roses, so I moved my hand while saying,"It's okay if you don't want it. I will give it to Prince Ro—"Before I could say Prince Rowan's name properly. He snatched the rose from my hand."Watch out!"I almost screamed since the roses had thorns. But it was too late. He had already clenched the rose in his slender fingers."I was about to say careful, Your Highness! Did you get hurt?" I asked, tilting my head to see if the thorns had pierced his skin.My eyes widened when I saw blood gushing out of his fingers."Oh no!"I felt sick watching his blood
Adam paused, his broad shoulders stopping moving as his steps suddenly came to a halt.I felt nervous. I wondered if I offended him, but I really wanted to tell him that I was worried. I was not one of the women who were scared away from him. I was only left to get help for him.Adam turned around to look at me. His dark eyes met mine. I saw a questioning look on his face."What did you say?" he asked. It was not like he didn't hear me. Either he wanted to hear it again or he wanted me to repeat it.I didn't look away. I held my breath, gathering courage in me."I was really worried."His brows rose. "Worried for what?"I gulped. "I thought something would happen to you.""You might be very happy when I think that."I shook my head. "What are you saying? Why would I be happy?"His brows furrowed. "Why? Didn't you say I am a monster in hell? You were happy that I was getting hurt. You have seen much that you shouldn't have. Why did you go there without my permission?" His voice slowly
Adam's eyes moved from me and fell on the book. I quickly bent down and picked up the book."I-I just came here!" I lied to him.I didn't want him to know that I was overhearing his private conversation with his favorite woman.I stood straight, holding the book against my chest. His eyes didn't return to me as they were fixed on the thick ancient book cover.I glanced at the book and then at him. "T-This is the book Princess Vaila gave to me. It has all the knowledge of herbs to make them into a cure."Prince Adam finally shifted his eyes to me. I swallowed my breath when our gazes locked.I recalled his conversation with Lenore and felt my heart tighten. I looked away from him and slowly bowed my head."Your Highness, thank you for giving me a job here, letting me live under your roof, giving me better food, and taking my burden without any expectations. I am grateful to you, Your Highness!" I thanked him with a genuine heart. This man was not an ordinary guy. He was the prince, the
I was surprised to hear his words. I slowly turned my head and glanced at him from under the tree.Lenore looked shocked. She leaned close to him, looking at him with a frown. Her hands reached out, and she placed them on his chest, rubbing his skin over the shirt.I quickly looked away.I didn't know why I couldn't see them together. Was it because Lenore was rude to me?By how everyone talked about her, it was more than clear that she was Prince Adam's woman. She might be his girlfriend or lover.I moved slightly, trying to make myself invisible in their sight under the dim light that was coming from the palace wall. I didn't want to ruin their private moments.Lenore's voice came out sweet yet very powerful."Adam, you only gave me the right to call your name. You haven't forgotten our nights, have you? I am a woman who can touch you, who can sleep with you; you can roam around the pack with you. Do you know why?"I didn't want to hear them anymore. But her words somehow caught my
“Kael...” I breathed, relief flooding through me.He looked at me calmly. “You look pale.”“I’m fine,” I lied. “Thank you... for healing me. And for last night.”His gaze lingered on me for a second, unreadable.Suddenly, “Damn the shift,” Kael said coldly. “Why are you so desperate to crawl back
I didn’t have time to think about Kael.I wrapped a black scarf around my face and entered the market, then headed toward the pack house.Outside, a few maids were whispering.“Miss Nova took that old woman somewhere.”My heart dropped.“Where?” I asked, disguising my voice. Before they could answe
The air seemed to freeze around me. I stared at him, the man I once loved the most.Even after six months, I saw no regret or guilt in his eyes. He was the head Alpha, but he still did not want to find out the truth.Justin narrowed his eyes on me. “Why are you scrubbing the floor? Is this what you
My knees gave up and I fell to the ground. The three men's knees shook, and they also fell on their knees beside me. The growl was so powerful that it shook Justin too. But he controlled himself. The roar and that strong voice narrowed Justin's eyes. He looked behind me, frowning deeply. With pa
