LOGINI didn’t have time to think about Kael.
I wrapped a black scarf around my face and entered the market, then headed toward the pack house.
Outside, a few maids were whispering.
“Miss Nova took that old woman somewhere.”
My heart dropped.
“Where?” I asked, disguising my voice.
Before they could answer—
A familiar mocking voice cut in.
“So you dared to come back.”
Nova.
She stepped forward slowly, eyes scanning me.
I pulled down my scarf.
“Where is Salma?”
She smirked. “Follow me.”
She led me deep into the woods.
Then she stopped and shoved her phone into my face.
On the screen—
Salma was tied up.
Bruised.
Crying.
My knees nearly gave out.
"Leave her!" I yelled at Nova.
She let out a laugh. "Only in one condition.""What?"She handed me a tiny transparent bottle. I could see violet fluid inside it."Drink it. I will let go of your nanny Salma if you drink it.""W-What is it?" I asked her with a surprised look. She smirked at me and replied,"Something more poisonous than poison.”I could not believe my ears. Was I going to die today?"Why are you doing this? Haven’t I been obedient enough? Haven’t I endured everything in the Forbidden Mountain?"Nova shook her head and leaned against a tree. "I am not satisfied with how you are living your life there. I told the supervisors to give you a life of hell, but look at yourself. You are totally okay. Your hands and legs are just working fine."Everything clicked. It was Nova all along. She had been bribing the supervisors to bury me in extra shifts just to make my life hell."I am telling you again, Nova. I didn't kill your brother. You are misunderstanding me. Just let my nanny go. She is innocent."Her smirk deepened as she whispered, "I know."My eyes widened. What did she mean? Was she aware that I didn't kill her brother? But before I got a chance to ask a question to her, she came and snatched her phone from my hand. Then she dialed a number and put the phone on the loudspeaker."Torture her," she commanded someone."Okay, Miss Blackwood," a man spoke.Almost immediately I heard a sound of slapping. Salma's screaming voice came out of the phone.Hearing her scream like that felt like a knife to my heart."No!"With a shocked face, I rushed to Nova to snatch the phone from her. "I will drink it, don't kill her," I said. She turned to me with that smirk intact on her face. “What are you waiting for? Drink up.”I held the bottle tightly and opened it. A heavy breath escaped me as a toxic floral scent that made my skin crawl. It smelled like a poisonous flower I could not identify. I thought,'Anything for Salma.'I closed my eyes and brought it to my lips, the cold glass clinking against my teeth as the first drop of that violet liquid rolled toward the edge. It then rolled down inside my throat while burning it.My knees felt weak. I reached out to steady myself against a tree, the empty vial slipping from my numb fingers and shattering on the forest ground.I had no idea what was going on with me. The liquid was poisonous; I was in pain, but why was I feeling so heated?
"I-I drank it all. Now let Salma go," I uttered.Nova typed something on her phone and then stayed quiet for a while as if she was waiting for someone. My body could not focus on her anymore as it slid against the tree, scratching my back. I felt no strength inside.Soon, a few men came there. Nova gestured them to me and said,"Enjoy her body. If she tries to run away, beat her and have your way."Three men were shocked when they heard Nova. But when they glanced at me, dirty grins spread on their faces."Thank you, Miss Blackwood."I shook my head, trying to move back, but my back was already pressed against the tree.My lips trembled. "D-Don't do this to me."Their tongue rolled while gazing at me, slowly approaching me.Although I did not have any strength, I held my breath and tried to stand up.One of them slapped me hard and tried to touch me. I bit his hand, which made him step backward. Before the other two approached me, I gathered my strength and got to my feet.I turned around and started running to save my life. I did not know where to go. Who would save me now?I felt déjà vu of the night six months ago. I was attacked like this and got beaten ruthlessly. But tonight, it was more horrible. These men were after disgracing me. I did not want them to ruin me.My feet slammed his nose, and he moved back. I got up and started to run, praying for someone to rescue me from these monsters. At that critical moment, I bumped into someone. The three men paused behind, looking ahead with wide eyes.I lifted my head and saw Justin. As if a glint of hope arose in my heart, I held his hand and whispered,"Justin"Justin's eyes narrowed on me.I felt his gaze like a physical weight as it slid down my body, stalling on my torn sleeves. He then yanked his hand away, giving me a look as if he had touched dirt.I stepped backward, feeling pain in my feet by his action.Justin's eyes moved away from my body and then glanced back at the men.He shook his head and gave me a disgusted look. ““Again? I catch you with men again? You’re disgusting.”I begged him through my eyes. “I-I didn't do anything. T-They want to—”“Shut up!” He yelled at me.I shut my eyes, flinching at his yell. He stepped toward me. I thought he would scold me due to the misunderstanding but at least help me.However, he pushed me toward the men, which made my eyes widen.“Justin!”I stared at him with shocked eyes. His eyes were filled with cruelty, hatred, and something that I could never identify. Why did he hate me so much? The fear of losing my dignity to those men was so deep that I almost forgot the man in front of me was brutal. He was the man who declared me a criminal; he was the man who slept with another woman without setting me free from the mate bond.“You dared to enter the border and came to seduce men? Then they should do whatever they want to do with you. Why are you now acting in front of me?”Saying that, Justin turned around and started walking away as if he was going to leave me to the men there.I was helpless. His look was telling me that he doubted I was just pretending.
I thought tonight I was going to lose myself. Those hungry men were dragging me to their den to eat me alive, breaking the last point that had been keeping me alive.Just when I thought everything was ended,A loud growl echoed in the forest, shaking every man around me, including Justin. Then a thunderous roar came from behind me.“Who dares to touch her?”Erica's POVI felt a sharp pain in my throat. My head was aching too. There was a familiar scent that hit my nose, causing me to sniff. My eyes were heavier, but I tried to open my eyes. When I opened my eyes, I saw I was in bed. I looked around. My brows frowned, realizing that it was not my bedroom.I sat up immediately. My eyes widened in shock.I recognized the room. It was Prince Adam's room!No one was in the room. I was all alone.I glanced at myself, finding I was still in full clothes. My hands flew to my mouth to slap my lips."Have you gone crazy? Why did you think such silly things? He is the prince; how can he think about spending the night with me?" I murmured.I realized I was thinking less of myself while thinking about him. But once upon a time, I used to hate him and think of him very lowly. My eyes shifted to the balcony glass door. From the bed, I could only see the right side of it.The sky was black. It looked like I didn't take much time to get back to conscious
I froze at his question. The cold breeze touched my hands, which were on my sides. I held my gaze at him, trying to understand why he kept asking me about Justin.I wanted to tell him that I never wanted to go back to Justin. I didn't want freedom to get back to a man who betrayed me.However, Prince Adam's eyes held hatred for me. The rage in them was mockingly sinister. Before I could answer, he had already declared it."I never said that," I replied in a low tone.My eyes blurred. I didn't want to fear this man. But his grip was really tight. His long and strong fingers wrapped around my neck like he wanted to clench my soul from my body."Then why are you pretending like this?" he asked, his teeth gritting.I blinked. My tears fell on my cheeks. I was feeling pain in my neck, but the pain in my heart was unbearable. I had no other intention toward him.As if he were losing his patience, his grip tightened even more."I..."I couldn't speak as I started to feel heavy from his grip.
Prince Adam looked surprised. He glanced at the rose with a puzzled gaze. His eyes shifted to me."Are you giving a beast a rose?" he asked, his voice cold as if it was offensive.I sighed, giving him a nod. "If you keep calling yourself a beast, then what to say? Rose is a sign of purity. The scent of fresh roses can heal the inner stress. It is good for the mind and will give a peaceful sleep."He didn't take it. I thought he didn't like roses, so I moved my hand while saying,"It's okay if you don't want it. I will give it to Prince Ro—"Before I could say Prince Rowan's name properly. He snatched the rose from my hand."Watch out!"I almost screamed since the roses had thorns. But it was too late. He had already clenched the rose in his slender fingers."I was about to say careful, Your Highness! Did you get hurt?" I asked, tilting my head to see if the thorns had pierced his skin.My eyes widened when I saw blood gushing out of his fingers."Oh no!"I felt sick watching his blood
Adam paused, his broad shoulders stopping moving as his steps suddenly came to a halt.I felt nervous. I wondered if I offended him, but I really wanted to tell him that I was worried. I was not one of the women who were scared away from him. I was only left to get help for him.Adam turned around to look at me. His dark eyes met mine. I saw a questioning look on his face."What did you say?" he asked. It was not like he didn't hear me. Either he wanted to hear it again or he wanted me to repeat it.I didn't look away. I held my breath, gathering courage in me."I was really worried."His brows rose. "Worried for what?"I gulped. "I thought something would happen to you.""You might be very happy when I think that."I shook my head. "What are you saying? Why would I be happy?"His brows furrowed. "Why? Didn't you say I am a monster in hell? You were happy that I was getting hurt. You have seen much that you shouldn't have. Why did you go there without my permission?" His voice slowly
Adam's eyes moved from me and fell on the book. I quickly bent down and picked up the book."I-I just came here!" I lied to him.I didn't want him to know that I was overhearing his private conversation with his favorite woman.I stood straight, holding the book against my chest. His eyes didn't return to me as they were fixed on the thick ancient book cover.I glanced at the book and then at him. "T-This is the book Princess Vaila gave to me. It has all the knowledge of herbs to make them into a cure."Prince Adam finally shifted his eyes to me. I swallowed my breath when our gazes locked.I recalled his conversation with Lenore and felt my heart tighten. I looked away from him and slowly bowed my head."Your Highness, thank you for giving me a job here, letting me live under your roof, giving me better food, and taking my burden without any expectations. I am grateful to you, Your Highness!" I thanked him with a genuine heart. This man was not an ordinary guy. He was the prince, the
I was surprised to hear his words. I slowly turned my head and glanced at him from under the tree.Lenore looked shocked. She leaned close to him, looking at him with a frown. Her hands reached out, and she placed them on his chest, rubbing his skin over the shirt.I quickly looked away.I didn't know why I couldn't see them together. Was it because Lenore was rude to me?By how everyone talked about her, it was more than clear that she was Prince Adam's woman. She might be his girlfriend or lover.I moved slightly, trying to make myself invisible in their sight under the dim light that was coming from the palace wall. I didn't want to ruin their private moments.Lenore's voice came out sweet yet very powerful."Adam, you only gave me the right to call your name. You haven't forgotten our nights, have you? I am a woman who can touch you, who can sleep with you; you can roam around the pack with you. Do you know why?"I didn't want to hear them anymore. But her words somehow caught my
“Kael...” I breathed, relief flooding through me.He looked at me calmly. “You look pale.”“I’m fine,” I lied. “Thank you... for healing me. And for last night.”His gaze lingered on me for a second, unreadable.Suddenly, “Damn the shift,” Kael said coldly. “Why are you so desperate to crawl back
My knees gave up and I fell to the ground. The three men's knees shook, and they also fell on their knees beside me. The growl was so powerful that it shook Justin too. But he controlled himself. The roar and that strong voice narrowed Justin's eyes. He looked behind me, frowning deeply. With pa
Panic clouded my mind. I was afraid of the second Lycan Prince. The cold floor under my feet felt like icy thorns. I did not know where I was going.I had no idea what that man looked like. But I had seen his giant wolf. He was cursed. I was frightened that he had seen me last night and would kill
The air seemed to freeze around me. I stared at him, the man I once loved the most.Even after six months, I saw no regret or guilt in his eyes. He was the head Alpha, but he still did not want to find out the truth.Justin narrowed his eyes on me. “Why are you scrubbing the floor? Is this what you
