Samantha's POV"Come on in. My grandma has been expecting you both." At first, I didn't get what the lady said, but soon it registered in my head. Her grandma had been expecting us? I turned to Alaric, who looked at me as well. He mirrored the shock I felt, too. I just hoped we weren't getting ourselves in trouble. We entered the wooden house, warm and simple in its décor. "Have a seat." The lady said, offering us the one couch in the room. The only other chairs were by the dining. There was an old television and a radio beside it. I wondered if they still worked. But what caught my attention the most was the little herb garden they had by the porch. The lady had left, but Alaric and I didn't take a seat yet. We were both almost reluctant."Is it safe?" I asked in a hushed voice; since we were outside pack territory, we couldn't communicate through the mindlink again."My instincts don't tell me otherwise." Alaric said. He didn't look the bit scared or worried. Rather, it looked like
Alaric's POV"This isn't a time to be stubborn, Samantha.""Must I do everything you ask of me?" she snapped, her eyes darting venom at me. Why did she seem so pissed off at me?I was confused, shocked, and frustrated by her reasoning, and just then the pain behind my back hit me, and I groaned loudly."What's wrong?" She asked in a desperate voice. She looked really concerned as I reached out to hold her when my balance faltered. I peered into her eyes, surprised at the switch from annoyance to such intense worry, and I blinked, pulling my hand away like I didn't know when I touched her."I have a knife stuck in my back," her eyes widened in shock the moment the words left my mouth. "Mind removing it?" I asked. I had been so overtaken by my concern for Samantha that I didn't realize I still had the knife stuck in my back. I could endure the pain, but this wasn't just a knife cut; the pain seemed to have deepened, and I knew it was more than a knife's cut.I turned my back to her and
Alaric's POVAfter the car wreck, I found myself somewhere in the woods. My thought quickly went to Samantha and what might have happened to her. Fear crippled me but gave me the strength to get back on my feet. I needed to go to her, to save her from whoever and whatever had attacked us. This was the fourth scare she was giving me, and this time, it drove me out of my mind.I let Storm take over as anger surged in like never before. I was going to destroy anyone that dared attack us, but I needed to save her. Her scent, mixed with blood, suddenly caught my attention, and I raced towards the direction leading to the road, but I suddenly felt a presence, and something huge pounced on me, carving its long, dirty claws into my skin.It pinned me to the ground, carving more of its claws into my skin. It was aiming to rip my heart out, and when that didn't work, it wanted to smash my head as it kept digging its claws into my face, pressing my head down to the ground. But I thought of Saman
Samantha's POV"You really have balls, Samantha. I think I'm starting to like it."He said, and I was surprised. No, I didn't need him to find my defiance entertaining. I wanted him to get mad every time I did. I couldn't do anything to severely hurt him like he did hurt me. This was one way I could feel good about seeing him every day because I was stuck in Raven Fur Pack with him.I didn't say anything to him, and he didn't seem to expect a reply as he started the car again and began driving. As we drove in silence, my mind kept wandering to a lot of things, but each time it ended with my curiosity as to why Lily didn't show up. They might have said their goodbyes in their bedroom, but still, it was important for me to know, even though I didn't know the reason why it was important.I was just inquisitive for the wrong reason. Deep down, I knew I wanted to hear something negative about it."Why didn't Lily come to see you off?" I couldn't stop myself from asking. It was so embarrass
Samantha's POVMy eyes fell on Alaric first as he stood by the car. A frown settled on his face the moment he saw the coat in my hands, but I didn't give a single care about what was going on in his mind. It didn't smell like Kennedy because I noticed Kennedy had masked his scent and used perfume on the coat, too. So Alaric couldn't know who it was from.I looked away from him to see Adrian and Adams together. Adrian looked quite sad. He really wanted to come with me. We were never apart, and this was the first time. I missed him already; I missed him so much that I almost cried for leaving him. He left Adams and ran into my arms while I hugged him tightly, dropping several kisses on his face.I finally broke the hug from Adrian, held his hand, and walked him back to Adams, who welcomed me into a hug as well."Take care, Adams." I said when we broke the hug. He nodded and smiled at me."You too." Adams said, then I turned to Adrian."Baby…" I called, caressing Adrian's face, but Adria
Samantha's POVI had a small bag packed with every necessity, then hung it over my shoulder. I had a prepared a timetable of Adrian's daily routine for Adams in a way that would be convenient for him to still carry on with work, and most importantly, for Adrian to have a balanced study and play life.Luna Tamia had asked if Adrian could stay with her while Alaric and I were gone to Nightveil, but I had to kindly decline.I'd given her the respect as the Luna of our pack to spend time with Adrian on several occasions, but I knew deep down that she had a feeling Adrian was Alaric's son and was trying to build a relationship with him. That was the most I could do, though. The truth was that Luna Tamia and I weren't close, and I didn't want her getting too comfortable, enough to want to be closer to Adrian. It surprised me that both Alaric and his mother hadn't yet conducted a DNA test on Adrian. I believed they hadn't because if they did and the result came out positive, they wouldn't he
