Nicole shrugged. “The rumor has it that his father had gone to save him and was brutally injured while doing so. But the interesting part is that they all shoved the whole episode under the rug.” She exhaled heavily. “We were told that they both met with a terrible accident. When they returned, both were healing at the same time in the hospital.” She lowered her voice as if someone would listen to her in the car. “I think Alpha Jacob murdered lots of wolves to save him and he went alone to save him.”

Gods! “And where’s his friend who he visited?”

“Dead.”

I gulped and rubbed my chest feeling a chill settle in my heart. Apollo went through a harrowing experience so early in his life. He must be so distressed. My parents died when I was five and I missed them terribly.

Nicole stopped the car outside my home. When I stepped out, she said, “I have to go to see Gabe. I am helping him at the bakery. He has less staff today.”

“Sure!” I waved a bye-bye. “And thank you.”
