Lydia's POV

I sat up all night just watching the Alpha king as his chest rose and fell in basic survival.

From a distance his handsomeness was blinding, his smile deceptive, but I know what I felt when I heard those words.

What exactly did I get myself into? Was this a case of frying pan to fire? Did I really just complicate my life for no reason?

But let's look at things without any bias.

Ever since I conceived this idea I have had a reason to wake up everyday and the fulfillment from carrying this was second to none!

Our night time routine has been the most alive I have felt in years.

At the end of the day, it begs the question if everything was worth it?

The Alpha king's breathing pattern changed subtly. If I wasn't paying attention to him I would have missed it. He was either waking up or he was already awake.

The cabin lights were switched off, just the fire in the fireplace that dimly lit up the room.

When his eyes opened, I felt the breath being knocked out of me. Because tell

Choice's POV “You can't just waltz into the mating den of a lycanthrope, it's a death wish!”Carl had warned me as soon as I told him that I was going to see Lydia. It was almost nine pm and she hadn't reached out to say if she was alive or dead. I was worried!“What do you mean mating den?! I have to ensure that she's fine!” I said to him as I laced up my shoes but I never made it to the door before an image was forced into my head.It was Lydia and I refused to say what she was doing on top of the Alpha king!“You could have just told me!” I hissed at Carl as my cheeks got heated up. Who wants to see their best friend doing that?!“I did tell you, but you're not listening as usual. Let's go to bed,” I gave him a suspicious look but went back into the house with him. An angry knock came shortly.Carl sighed with annoyance so I went to see who it was. I scoffed as I opened the door and stepped out.“You would think a bullet would communicate our disinterest in talking with you,” I cr

Lydia’s POV I groaned as the chirping of birds reached my ears. The ward was already waning and we would soon need to go back and face the world that frowned on such relationships.Especially for US leaders, what I've done has liberated me but it has put my position and my coven in an awkward position. The Alpha king, I mean, Fred was passed out next to me. My cheeks warmed up as I stared at his toned back, the tattoo that spanned his wings made him look even more attractive. I wanted to run my hand on the lines but I know that the moment I touched him, he'll wake up and then we won't be leaving the bed until noon.I kind of wanted to make use of my legs for the first time in two days. So as sneakily as I could manage, I got out of bed and just stood there. My legs felt foreign but at the same time it felt nice to actually be able to stand on my own.Fred has done a number on my body, bent me in ways I didn't know I could be bent and brought me to questionable heights of pleasure.I

Cade's POV The meeting at the council house started twenty minutes ago, but I was in school so I left in the middle of the announcements from Coach. It was after I had settled down in the meeting that I remembered I didn't send a text to Anaya that I was going home.I sighed and tried to concentrate on the documents in front of me.Crap, the Nightfang pack were coming as well. It seems this summer is going to be tedious. Malachi was such a headache on a good day, I'm sure he'll have no issues migrating to migraine status at the drop of a hat. After the meeting I went to talk to my dad.“Hey dad,” I said to him and noticed he was on the phone. He raised a finger and I sat and waited for him. When he dropped the phone he sighed deeply.“The Alpha king is kind of missing, but he doesn't want to be found either. I just got off the phone with Alpha Isla and she sounds more annoyed than concerned, probably the pregnancy hormones at play,” my dad said and I didn't know how I felt about this

Anaya's POV If Cade's arm hadn't moved when it did, I probably would have fallen to the ground. He caught me on time and pulled me to his chest.“Are you okay?” He murmured to me and my cheeks flushed red in embarrassment.I can't believe I made the first move and nearly fell to the ground when I was interrupted by a knock. But who could it be? Seth has his Seth of keys. And yes, Cade's room key is a set of keys arranged in a particular order in a pouch. If you don't have the exact arrangements, it flags the school security that someone is trying to break into the Alphason's room which is immediate expulsion. The knock came again and Cade placed me on his bed to sit down before he went to open the door.“Hi! Were you in the bathroom? I was out here for a while. The coach sent me to call you down for practice -” Sierra's voice trailed off as she took in my outfit and where I was sitting.“Why is she here? You barely allowed me in here while we dated,” Sierra said to Cade, jealousy and

Anaya's POV Summer school was now in full swing and we didn't have to wear uniforms. It was nice to just dress the way you wanted, following the school guidelines of course.I stepped out of the bus and did a double take when I saw Letti. What the hell was this nerd doing here?“Hey nerd, this doesn't look like your usual spot,” I said to her as I sat across from her. She rolled her eyes but a small smile played at the corner of her lips.Compared to her usual school uniform, Letti looked amazing in her sun dress, flats and her hair in a high ponytail.“There's a special program for nerds. I plan to graduate early so I'm taking it. Besides, there isn't such a thing as learning too much. I take it you're here for the Luna Strike boot camp, you need a personal cheerleader and every moment that my nose isn't stuck in a book is yours for that,” she said to me before returning her eyes to her phone that she has been furiously typing on since I got here.“You mean I get the scraps of your

Grande Maestro's POV I pulled the bullet out of my leg as rage coursed through my body.Lydia dared to betray me?She not only broke our bond but she happily bonded with another? The door to the bathroom opened and a panicked Tasha rushed in.“Babe! Did you feel the shift? There was a rattling in the shrine-, what happened to you?!” She cut herself off as she stared at the wound bleeding on my thigh.I wanted to bash her head into the wall.A rattling?! I just lost the only reason people see me as anything other than some low life social climber and she was concerned about rattling?“I would suggest that you get out of my face for your safety,” I said to her through clenched teeth when she tried to move close to me.“What? Lawrence, babe, you're hurt and you want me to go? What kind of person do you think that I am?!” She said and despite the warning look that I gave her, she approached me.She picked up the towel on the bathroom floor and rushed to fill the bathroom with warm water.
