Chapter Eighteen: Just a smile

I groaned as the alarm rang loudly,

“Fridginfucking alarm,” I gritted my teeth as I sluggishly put off the alarm.

I tried to get back to my sleep but then I shot my eyes open.

‘AJ!’

I scrambled out of my bed, still slightly disoriented, a smile formed on my lips as I remembered sleeping in his embrace yesterday and also the promise he made to me. I crept over to the window and peered out, hoping to catch a glimpse of my mysterious neighbor. But the window was closed and the curtains were drawn, I felt a pang of disappointment and sadness. Many thoughts filled my head as I sluggishly entered the bathroom.

My mood was sour, and ‘The What Ifs’ in my head kept ringing consistently.

What if he didn't keep his promise?

What if AJ was taunting me?

What if he had packed away?

What if he is going to go back to the way he was?

I kept stabbing my food without any remorse, I kept sighing, slumping my shoulders, forgetting the fact that I was having breakfast with my family.
