CHAPTER SIX: CRESCENT MOON

LIAM’S POINT OF VIEW

Their eyes glowed red as they moved closer to me. I tried to move my hand, tried to get out of the handcuffs but nothing worked, the handcuffs kept digging into my skin not wanting to get off. I panicked, as I stared at them as they continued to walk towards me with evil smirks on their faces.

A gang of vampires, A gang of vampires that are about to drain me of my blood.

I panicked, the fear was greater than anything I’ve ever felt. I did not even know that Vampires existed here in moon crystal wolf pack, after the great vampire massacre that happened when I was in high school after the murder of a werewolf girl, I hadn’t seen a vampire around, most of them were killed while others fled for their dear lives. Moon crystal is a place for only werewolves, that was made clear after the massacre, other supernatural creatures left not wanting to be the next victim.

I hadn’t seen vampires in a long long time and now a gang of bloodthirsty vampires are making their way towards me ready to feed on my blood and take away my life.

“Your death will serve as a warning to Alpha Zyn.” The leader of the vampires said with an unmistakable glint of evilness in his eyes.

“You werewolves thought that you could scare us off but now we are back and we will surely make every single one of you pay for the deaths you caused many years ago!” The leader added in a snarl.

“For our dead brothers and sisters!” The leader yelled.

“For our dead brothers and sisters!” His followers yelled back as they lurched towards me.

Their fangs all came out, their fingernails became longer as they stood ready to strike. One more step and I’ll be dead, I’ll be drained of all my blood by a gang of vampires.

I closed my eyes awaiting my inevitable death, as the panic set in I retreated into myself doing my best to drown out their chants, I’m going to die anyway… I’m going to die in their hands, I just want to make sure that their faces are not the last ones I see or else it might haunt me for all eternity.

I closed my eyes, remembering the life I’ve had. The orphanage, St. Catherine’s orphanage children high school, Mr. Benson’s fruit market, the car dealership and then Alpha Zyn.

Alpha Zyn, I remember the first time I met him, I was trembling in both fear and awe, I had never seen a man who exudes so much confidence, a kaleidoscope of authoritative confidence with a certain softness that I was sure was present behind his cold stare.

“Sir your drink.” Twenty three year old me had said holding a tray of champagne, I tried to hand him his own drink in a champagne glass but somehow the glass had slipped from my hand and its gold colored content emptied on Alpha Zyn’s shirt. I held my breath, looking at my employer who stared at me with resentment, this was his biggest customer ever and now I had poured a glass of champagne on him.

My employer glared at me and soon started hurling insults at me.

“Stupid fucking illiterate orphan!” He had said amongst other insults. Alpha Zyn’s eyes met mine, I looked away, embarrassed about what had happened, embarrassed about the spectacle that is my life.

“Where is the bathroom?” Alpha Zyn had asked staring at me, the fierceness of his stare kept me glued in place unable to move or speak properly.

“I…uh…it…Uhm.” I stuttered feeling even more embarrassed.

“Just take him to the goddamn bathroom Liam! Ugh do I have to do everything around here?!” My employer yelled. I nodded. We got to the bathroom and that was where Alpha Zyn had asked me the one question which changed my life forever.

“Will you be mine forever?” He asked as I stood between him and the wall. I nodded not thinking of the consequences.

I heard the sounds of the Vampires then I heard something that I haven’t heard before, my wolf’s voice.

“He will save you… he always saves you.” My wolf said.

“Not this time.” I replied and almost immediatelyI heard the sound of the heavy metal door falling to the ground.

My eyes flew open. I gasped In disbelief. Alpha Zyn, he is here!

“Get away from him!” I heard him growl loudly as his eyes flashed gold. I stared in disbelief at alpha Zyn, my eyes traveled from his face to his hands which were dripping with blood, two of his hands held two of the vampire’s hearts still beating, their bodies fell to the ground in a loud thud.

“If any of you move an inch closer to him you’ll regret it!” He added seething in anger.

“I’m not scared of you!” The head of the vampires said as he sped to Alpha Zyn’s side ready to separate his head from his body, before he could take a step Alpha Zyn had him mid-air.

“You should be.” He replied as he broke the leader’s neck letting his body fall to the ground.

“Anyone else?” He asked looking around, they all moved back. Without another word he got to where I was sitting tied up.

“Did they hurt you?” He asked with his hand on my chin as he stared into my eyes. I shook my head no, not trusting myself enough to speak. Without another word he led me out of the abandoned building. We sat side by side on a pavement in the quiet street, I looked up at the crescent moon in the sky trying to avoid the awkward silence that was beginning to form between us.

“Liam.” He said, his voice completely stripped off of every hint of anger. His voice sounded like a whisper. I turned to him giving him my full attention.

“There’s something that I have been meaning to tell you.” He said. I looked at him, silently urging him with my eyes to speak.
