Violet's POV

Slamming the door shut behind me, I walked inside with my eyes fixed on the three people in the room. They didn’t say a word until I reached them.

“Good news. I’m finally getting married,” Owen declared, and the atmosphere changed. I could finally breathe. I thought I’d been summoned here for an entirely different reason.

“Good news indeed,” I said with a small smile as I turned to Ezekiel with a raised brow.

“Can’t you see your father sitting next to you?” he asked with a disappointed look on his face.

“I see him. Hi, Father. How’s it going?” I greeted with a wide grin stretched across my chin, but my father shook his head in disappointment and shrugged his shoulders toward Ezekiel, as though confirming some words he’d said earlier.

“I told you she’s got no respect for her seniors. She just proved that now,” my father commented, but Ezekiel let it slide with a smile on his face.
