"Mother?" I asked nervously. I knew she would be furious again. My parents freaked out every time I mentioned leaving. Even if it was just for a little while. I found it easier to sneak out and hope to be back before they noticed. I struggled to adapt to being back. I was alone for a very long time, and I was so used to being alone. Scales and I communicated mentally. Sometimes, I forget that no one else can sense me as he does.

"Dimitri!"

"Yes, Mother?"

"Where were you? You didn't even say anything!" She moaned

Frustration caused a sigh to escape with a puff of smoke.

"Do you want to burn the house down!" She asked rethorically, fanning her hand in front of her face.

"You missed her!" My mother sighed, plopping down on the couch.

"Who?" I asked, changing the subject, but honestly, I hoped she wasn't talking about the female again. I am already sick of her, and I haven't even met her yet. I don't understand why they can not just tell me what she looked like. Instead, it was a

  • An Angels Betrayal    Part 2 - Chapter 16

I was listening to the select few bantering on how to proceed. No one knew about the real reason we had to speed up the mission except for William, Eric, and myself. They were pleased, though. Everyone was tired of waiting and wanted this over with. Most of all, they wanted revenge, and this waiting was feeling counter-productive. I was surprised that Eric was so vocal in the meeting because I honestly expected that he would have delivered the letter and split. I always thought that if he had a choice, he would be long gone and leave everyone to their own defense. Maybe I judged him too quickly. I listened quietly at the discussions and ideas being thrown around. I couldn't stop thinking about all the lives that have been lost and how many more will be lost on the path we are taking. I was fully aware that we needed to do this otherwise retaliation from the evil bitch will cost much more. Eric had a lot of insight and shared some good ideas but at the end of the day t

I was furious when I saw that prick here when he was supposed to be guarding Zinnia. I didn't like him at all. There was something smug and egotistical about him. It was Williams' choice to send him with her. It was a good call for my pack at the end of the day, but I wasn't so sure if it was such a good call for Zinnia. It took a lot for me to keep calm and sound calm, but I had to. The people in our party were ready for a fight and were craving blood. When I heard that he was here for William on her request, it made me curious. Now, I could not believe what William was telling me. Yes, a part of me thought that she left on her own. The other part refused to believe that she might have left on her own. I couldn't believe that she could be so selfish or I didn't want to believe it. The confirmation that she was indeed kidnapped made me feel horrible. Even though the thaught drifted in and out of my consciousness over the two years that she was gone, neither one of us attempt

  • An Angels Betrayal    Part 2 - Chapter 14

A Dwarf with a messed up face came out from behind a tree. He looked angry as hell. I haven't seen a lot of dwarfs in Pantelleria and haven't seen one close to Valagasïe. "You!" He whispered, yelled. I looked at him confused. A lot of creatures came out of the bushes and from behind the trees. I should have been fearful or attempted to defend myself, but I didn't. For some reason, I didn't feel threatened. I did, however, feel a kind of dread wash over me. "You!" He repeated. Hatred now palpable. Everyone surrounded me, and in a circle, they walked, forcing me to walk with them until we reached a clearing that could not be seen from the guard tower. They led me to a fire pit with a fire burning very low to keep anyone outside the clearing from seeing it. The dwarf was sitting there. Eyeing me suspiciously. I could see that he was growing impatient, but he didn't come closer or attempted to talk to me. He was waiting for something or someone. Then I smelled

  • An Angels Betrayal    Part 2 - Chapter 13 - Eric POV

At first, I wanted to send her to hell when she had the audacity to ask for my assistance, but as I listened to the request, it became more appealing. If I helped her, I would be helping myself. I could get away from her for weeks, even months. There were more than enough people here to hold the fort and keep her safe, especially with the big, dumb, ass hat who just joined our little party. I would also be disrupting their lives by being gone. They would have to stay here, and their excursions would have to come to an end until William or I were back. It gave me sick satisfaction knowing this. It was childish, but after everything, I did not care. I could get away just as I wanted to for over a month now. If William comes back, there will be no reason for me to stay. I would be able to leave this, shit show and Pantelleria altogether. If I can not find William or if I find him dead, I would report back, and then I would leave for the human world, find my grandmother, and s

  • An Angels Betrayal    Part 2 - Chapter 12 - Zinnia POV

It has been a month since Romeo joined us in the cave. The cave has become a busy place since then. He fit into the twins' lives like he has always been there. Like Vera didn't have to raise them on her own for over two years. Vera and Draco were destined mates, and since they have completed the mate bond, they have been inseparable. Vera and Draco would disappear at times, only to return much later in the evening or even the next morning. The kids didn't go with them, so I assumed it was for alone time or that they worried the kids would be in too much danger in the outside world. Their parents would come visit often, but they wouldn't stay too long for fear that the other dragonshifters would start asking questions. The twins needed to stay a secret until they were stronger and Pantelleria safer. Their parents were amazing people, and I have grown rather fond of them. They all seemed happy, though, like a truly happy family. I was happy for them, but I would lie if I

  • An Angels Betrayal    Part 2 - Chapter 11

I was about to turn around when I saw the cave that I suspected they were in. Scales and I have canvassed most of the nesting grounds. There were very little few caves and areas left that we hadn't checked. I must confess that I allowed my instinct to take over. If she was my mate, as I suspected, I would be drawn to her being so close. If we completed the mate bond, I would have known exactly where to find her. I saw a man in the mouth of the cave, guarding the treasures within. I should have turned around, but an unreasonable rage filled me once again. "Was he the father?" I growled to myself. I flew towards him, diving like a missile towards his target. When he saw me, he crouched down defensively. He was smart because if he attacked, nothing would have stopped me. Instead, he waited, defending the entrance. I heard him, yelling a warning. So there must be more visitors inside. I thought to myself. Before I hit the ground, I turned into my human form and landed h
