He is Xander Cage

Winter was rummaging through her wardrobe in search for an attire for the night and finally she settled down for a white turtled neck blouse and jean trousers. Her plan was to not go out until the guests arrives so her mother wouldn't tell her to go change. She smiled at her plan and began dressing up.

She was about putting on her blouse when the door to her room opened and her Mother entered. She froze "Miss Annabel, why are you here? Shouldn't you be getting ready to welcome your guests?"

Annabel walked in with slow strides "A little birdie told me someone was planning to dress inappropriately for the event and I decided to come check what that person is up to"

"Damn it! That little rat can't keep quiet for the life of her"

"Even your sister knows what's right" She then took a look at the clothes on her daughter's bed "I assume you were planning on wearing this and then come down when the guests are here but darling, you aren't allowed to dress the way you want tonight" Annabel then walked towards the wardrobe and pulled out a purple dress. It was a dress she had gotten for Winter which the girl had refused to wear.

"I guess this dress was meant to be worn for tonight. Now put it on while I'm watching" She crosses her hand over her chest as she watched her daughter.

Winter grumbled as she took off her blouse and put on the purple dress under her Mother's scrutiny.

"I'm done"

Annabel went to the shoe rack and took out a pair of black sandals "That would complete the look. It would have been heels but I know you'll argue about how you shouldn't wear heels in the house, so I'm going easy on you" She stretched it out to Winter who collected it and put them on.

"Let me do your make up" Annabel dragged her to the dressing table and started applying make up on her face while Winter silently watched. She can't argue because she'll lose eventually, her Mom could be very stubborn at times and this was definitely one of those times.

She even made her hair into curls before finally leaving her "Now, you definitely look like Annabel's daughter"

The door opened and Summer came in "Miss Annabel, your guest is here"

"That's lovely, I'm leaving then" She immediately left the room, looking excited to meet her friend.

Winter eyes narrowed at her sister who was looking at her with amusement "Take a look at how good you look. It's all thanks to me but you don't need to thank me, I did it for myself too" She then ran out after saying that, in case her sister planned to throw her things.

Winter stared at the reflection in the mirror silently then got up to head downstairs.  Even before she got down, she could hear her Mom's excited voice as she conversed with her friend.

"Good evening, ma'am" She greeted her Mom's friend.

"Evening, young lady. Anna, your daughters are really beautiful, but then again, they are your daughters"

"I know right, back then I was the most beautiful in school" Annabel boasted and Winter had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. The women never fails to create a moment to praise herself. Not that she was any better, it seemed the attitude was passed through their genes.

She took her sit beside her sister while her Mother's friend, Juliana sat opposite them. Winter stared at the woman, wondering where she had seen her before. She was sure she had seen her but can't remember or when for that matter.

"Why didn't you come with your sons?" Annabel asked since Juliana was supposed to come with her sons.

"Oh, they are coming, they got held up with work. Don't worry, they'll be here soon"

"When you said both of them were unmarried, I was so surprised, handsome guys like that should have a woman by now"

Winter actually wondered if her Mom had seen either of the guys she was calling handsome. What if they weren't?

Juliana let out an exasperated sigh "They are very stubborn, you see..."

The sound of the bell interrupted their discussion "Oh! That must be them"

"Winnie, can you get the door please?"

Winter sighed as she stood up and headed for the door, looking bored. She was definitely bored of all that was going on.

The door bell rang once more "Coming!" She wondered why they were impatient.

She opened the door and what she saw made her froze. What the hell is Xander freaking Cage doing at her door.

Xander stared at the woman who had opened the door and was now staring blankly at him "Well, errm, is this the Lawsons home?"

"I...it is" It took all her willpower for her to reply him. She was still going through an ultra thunderbolt on seeing him at her doorstep or was she dreaming? It's probably a dream because that was the most plausible explanation to why he was here, standing in front of her and even talking to her at all.

"Thank God, I thought I got it wrong. I'm Xander, I suppose my Mom is here?"

Another shock, he was Juliana's son? For real, he was her blind date?

Was this a kind of play or was she still on her bed, daydreaming about him being the son of her Mom's friend?

"Winnie, what's keeping you there, let them in for goodness sake" Her Mother's voice jolted her back to reality and she made way for him to pass by before closing the door.

"Xan, where's your brother? I thought you both were coming together?" Juliana was surprised to see only him.

"Will you let me greet our hosts before asking me questions?" He shook his head at her before facing the Lawsons.

"Good evening, It's my pleasure to be here, I'm Xander and my brother would unfortunately be absent today because he has an emergency" He explained.

Winter wasn't the only one stunned to see him, Summer was too. Her eyes naturally went to her sister who had on a bedazzled look and she actually couldn't hide her grin. It seems like her sister's era of being single is finally over. Lucky her!

"You are welcome, young man. It's good enough that one of you is here. I'm sure your brother must be so busy. Thank you for taking time off your busy schedule to visit us" Winter's Dad said to him.

"It's no problem really"

Annabel noticed her daughter still standing not far away from the door and she wondered what was wrong with her "Winnie, come have your sit or are you planning to stand there all night?"

Winter finally joined them at the table, she didn't even know how to act. What are the odds of her crush being her blind date, how was she supposed to behave when he was finally in front of her?

"Sis, you really need to thank me for not letting you embarrass yourself in front of him tonight. Imagine you dressing the way you had originally planned for your first meeting?" Summer whispered to her and Winter recalled what she had almost done. It was a close call, her gossipy sister was useful for one thing for the first time.

"Don't worry, I'll definitely repay you for that" She whispered back.

"We should have our meal now" Annabel stood up which made Winter and Summer did too and they followed their Mother into the kitchen.

"What happened darling, you were not being yourself back there?" Annabel asked as she was serving the dishes. She was concerned because she had never seen her daughter act like that.

Summer grinned "Mom, I assure you that nothing is wrong with her. She's just not over the shock of her crush being her blind date"

Annabel didn't understand, so she tilted her head towards her younger daughter. "Her crush? You mean this Xander is that guy?"

"Exactly, so don't worry, she's probably wondering how to act in front of him. After all, it's the first time he'll be seeing her, no the second time but I'm sure he doesn't remember the first time"

"Our guests are waiting" Winter interrupted their discussion.

"Whatever" Summer retorted as she took the dishes out. Annabel grinned as she leaned closer to her daughter "I trust you are getting married soon then? Finally the old maiden is leaving her singlehood" She even whistled as she walked out. Winter shook her head before carrying the dishes left and followed after her.

"It's been a while since I've tasted your dishes. Back then when we were in the university, you'll always cook for the rest of us" Juliana said as she reminisces when they were younger.

"All because you lot were to lazy to cook" Annabel replied with a smile.

"You should be happy because I was the reason you and Trevor met one another. If not because of the meals you made which I always share with him"

"Oh please, you are making it like I always begged for then" Winter's Dad says with a smile.

"Didn't you? You fell in love with  Anna because of her delicious meals though"

"Of course he did, back then, I made sure to add lots of love to it because I knew he'll eat out of it and that was why he fell in love with me"
