Dinner date I

Xander was playing a video game which had been created by his cousin, who told him to play for testing before the game was released into the world, on his computer when he noticed someone walking towards him and without looking up, he could tell who it was.

"I thought you weren't returning until Wednesday?" He asked Xavier, who was now standing beside him, watching what he was doing.

Xavier shrugged "I had to wrap it up earlier because I know you'll be bored without me here" He then went to take his sit on the Couch.

"Regan should probably hire his own tester instead of asking you to do it every time" He commented because he knew the person who had make Xander busy playing games. Regan was the the son of their Mother's older brother and he was the creator of many popular video games.

Xander shrugged "I have lots of time to help, and again, I really like helping him do the testing, it shows that he recognizes me as a master gamer"

Xavier scoffed "I see, since you love helping him out all the time, why don't you just fly over and start working for his company. It wasn't even up to a month ago when he made you trace the person who hacked into his company's system, now you are testing his game? Why don't I call him and tell him you are interested in working for him?"

Xander chuckled but didn't stop what he was doing "Is that jealousy I'm smelling from you?" He then faced his brother who had on an aggrieved expression.  "CJ employees needs to really see this side of yours and know you aren't that scary. You are very childish even"

Xavier smiled because he knew how the employees at their company saw him, they always refer to him as an evil overlord when in reality his brother was the evil overlord. He was only wearing the coat for him.

"So, how was your date? Are you getting married this time?" Xavier changed the topic and that made Xander stop his game. He twirled the chair he was sitting on around in order to face his brother. Both brothers were almost same in terms of appearance, only that Xavier was more muscular and tanned while Xander looked pale like a white sheet of paper. Even snow white would have been jealous of how white Xander looked.

They were mixed race and Xander had more of an Asian look than his brother which was why his skin colour was  white. Their Father was half Chinese, half Scottish.

"The marriage date has been set even" Xander replied nonchalantly and that got Xavier's attention. His eyes narrowed as he questioned him "Why are you agreeing to a marriage you don't want? I know you enough to know you don't want to get married because you feel you'll be a burden to your partner, so what made you change?" Because of the nature of Xander's sickness, he was afraid his partner would be the one to suffer for it.

Xander shrugged "I just wanted to" Xavier didn't believe his unreasonable reason. He knew very well how stubborn his twin brother was than anyone else.

"Is it because I said I wouldn't have a relationship too? Is that it?" When Xander didn't reply, he continued "Xan, you don't have to force yourself to do things because of me though, I can handle the matter on my own" He had already decided it wasn't really necessary to be in a relationship if his brother couldn't be in one too. He very well understand his brother's predicament so all he could do was support him.

Xander frowned "And how will you handle it? The problem comes from me in the first place so I'll handle it myself. Stop making it seem like I can't even do things on my own. Do you think it makes sense for me to allow my brother to sacrifice his happiness because of me? Or do you think I'll be happy if I let you be?"

Xavier sighed "Xan, you know that's not what I meant by that"

"Whatever you meant" It was at this moment their Mother entered. Juliana was about to tell them to come down for dinner when she noticed the atmosphere between them.

"What's going on?" She asked in concern as she look from Xander to Xavier, her eyes filled with questions.

Xander got up from the chair and walked towards her, holding her hand "It's nothing, you don't have to be worried" Despite his reassurance, she still stared into his eyes in order to confirm if he was saying the truth but as usual, she could never read what he was thinking.

"You both should come down for dinner" She then looked towards Xavier who was quietly looking at her. She could pretty much guess what had transpired.

Xander might seem strong outwards but he was incredibly soft and vulnerable inside and that was why they were always careful of which topic to discuss with him. Discussion about his health was the number forbidden topic even though he himself was always the first one bringing it up. Living wasn't something important to him and they had always wanted him to get rid of his bad thoughts but it never worked. He was was as stubborn as a mule.

"Let's go then" Xander said to his Mom before turning to his brother. "Aren't you having dinner?"

Xavier stood from the couch "I'll go wash up and join you" He walked past them, heading for his room while Xander and Juliana went down for dinner.

"Mom, for the last time, I know what to do" Xander was already tired of his Mom nagging him ever since he had gotten up that morning.

"I just want to make sure you know what to do. What about the restaurant, is it good enough or would you like me to make a reservation for you?" Juliana was excited since it was the first time in years that her son would be going for a date, willingly for that matter.

He sighed "It's good enough and probably better than what you'll recommend. Remember she wanted privacy" At his reminder, Juliana's eyes widened. "Right?" She then started walking to and fro, making Xander feel dizzy from watching her.

Xavier, who was having his dinner couldn't resist laughing because of his Mom's behaviour "Julia, your son is an Adult, he can pretty much handle his woman himself"

Juliana turned to him "You think so? You know your brother has anger issues, what if he takes it out on her?" Xander rolled his eyes at his Mom's useless worry.

"Why would I take out my anger on her when she did nothing wrong?"

"Well, you got angry at Josephine when she asked about your future plans during your last blind date" His Mom reminded him.

"And I told you that's not the reason I got angry. I didn't even hurt her or something, I simply walked out on her. Does that count as taking out my anger on her?" The girl was annoying him and in order not to unleash his anger on her, he left her alone. How does that count as him taking out his anger on her?

Juliana was not letting him off "She cried when she got home"

Xander's brows curved with displeasure "That's because she's naturally a crybaby. How do you expect me to deal with that?"

"Xan is right, and I particularly don't believe the sob story her Mom told us" Xavier then added. "Besides, the matter is over two years now, why are you bringing it up?"

Juliana finally gave up "Give me Winter's number, I'll need to call her to know how she feels after your meeting. You better not make her sad in any way. You won't find a better woman than her"

"And now I'm interested in knowing who this Woman is" Xavier said intrigued with the way his woman had been hyping his brother's supposed future wife since the night before.
