Chapter 42: The Sirens Keep

After walking for hours that seems like eternity, Evan couldn't believe that he arrived back to the dead tree that overlooked the gloomy lake. Like a loop, the world he is in won't go anywhere but this certain place.

Everything else are just dry grasses, below the cloudy heaven that threatened to rain, yet no drops of water showered the thirsty leaves.

The cold breeze blew here and there, piercing through Evan's thick clothes and crawling in his skin, the feeling of it never failed to make him shiver.

He walked for a long time but he never did felt the tiredness cling to his body. Nor did he felt the thirst for water and the hunger for food. His wounds have long healed and he felt not a single ounce of pain, it was like he is immortal in this realm of unknown.

Evan continued until he reached the lake where he once left. Mayari is still in her spot staring into nothing while her strange clone is standing right behind her, watching her like a hawk.
