Chapter 4

Anabel ignored Elena, she wanted to know where Pete was. “Where did you take my friend, I want to see that you haven’t hurt him.” She said shaking her head.

“Dremis?” Marcus said rolling his eyes.

“Yes, boss?” Dremis said appearing near the kitchen.

“Go and get Pete, Anabel doesn’t believe we didn’t hurt him,” Marcus said getting to his feet. “I’m going to prove to her we didn’t hurt him.”

“Fine,” Dremis said disappearing for a second and reappearing with a struggling Pete.

“Let me go!” Pete growled.

Anabel stood up. “Please let him go.” She said shaking her head. “He’s the only one that I can trust out of all of you. You two can appear where ever you want and that’s kind of creepy, Pete at least he can take me with him.”

“I brought you here, I can do the same thing Pete can,” Marcus said walking closer to Anabel, but she backed up. “Don’t worry no one is going to hurt you, Anabel, you are safe.’

“Don’t believe him, Anabel,” Pete said dusting himself off because Dremis pushed him to the floor. “They are the rulers here, you can't possibly trust him.” He said shaking his head. “Do you remember what I told you before you ran away at the market?”

“Yeah, you said he would kill both of us if we got caught,” Anabel said shaking her head. “Please Marcus you don’t want to hurt either one of us.” She said looking at Marcus; he had a look on his face that she couldn’t read. He was between confused and pissed off.

“Anabel!” Marcus said shaking his head. “We’re not going to harm either one of you.” He said shaking his head. “Pete kept you safe until we found you, he can go whenever he wants, and I want you to stay here until we figure out why you have no memory of anything. Do you even remember your sons?”

“I have no idea what you are talking about?” Anabel said shaking her head. “I told you I only remember waking up in the cave. You said that it’s been twenty years? If I have sons where are they?”

“Elijah,” Marcus called.

Elijah walked into the room. “Yeah dad?” he said looking at Marcus and then Anabel.

“You remember the story I told about your mother?” Marcus said shaking his head. “This is your mother, she was lost. We found her this morning looking for food, she has no memory.”

“Oh.” Elijah didn’t know what to say. Marcus never told him she was dead, but he did say they may never find her. Elijah looked at Anabel. “Finally, welcome Mom.” He said wanting to go and sit with her, but he didn’t know how to react to her and the whole situation.

“Um.” Anabel didn’t know what to say. Her heart told her to run as fast as she could, she couldn’t trust anyone. “Please forgive me all of this is a lot to take in,” she said shaking her head.

“I know it is, but you asked and I wanted you to see I haven’t lied about anything,” Marcus said getting up and walking over to Elijah. “You helped save me, I told you this.” He said walking closer to Anabel. “I want to save you now, I want to be the one you can trust, the one that you will call on.” He said kneeling next to Anabel.

Anabel didn’t say anything, she looked down at her food it was getting cold. Her stomach still growled for it, but she wanted to know more about them, she wanted to know what they were.

“So you can travel between realms is what Pete says they are.” She said taking a bite of food. “Can I?”

“I don’t know Anabel,” Marcus said looking back at Dremis. “The only way we can see is if you try and teleport somewhere.” He said looking back at her. “You may not be able to, but I don’t want that to make you sad. We will always be around to make sure you are taken care of.”

A knock at the door startled Anabel, she looked at the door and then at Marcus.

“It’s Carlos,” Dremis growled.

“Aw man, what does he want now,” Marcus said standing up. “I’ll be right back, this isn’t going to take long.” He said walking to the door. Marcus stepped out onto the porch.

Anabel stood up and walked over to the window, Elena tried to say something but it was too late. Anabel opened the curtains a little bit so she could see what was going on. She couldn’t understand what they were saying, and she didn’t know who the two that came to the door were.

Marcus walked back into the house, when he saw Anabel by the door, he almost wanted to scream. “Why aren’t you eating your food?” he said putting his arm around her and leading her back to the fire. “Finish your dinner, and then if you want you can take a bath and get some rest.” He said looking at Dremis. “We’ll watch over you to make sure you wake up here and you don’t try and run away from me again.” He said walking away from Anabel.

Dremis walked with Marcus, and Elena stayed with Anabel. “So how old are you?” she said looking at Anabel.

“I don’t know, twenty-something,” Anabel said eating some more food. “What about you?”

“Two thousand and twelve years,” Elena said flicking her hair behind her shoulder. “So you are going to look like that for the rest of your life.”

“Really?” Anabel said looking down at her arms, she was still purple. “I guess I don’t mind having this kind of skin. I mean it’s different than you and Marcus.” Anabel said shaking her head.

“You got that color from Hecta. It’s a blessing.” Elena said wanting to touch Anabel, but she wasn’t sure about her.

“Quiet Elena!” Marcus growled. “Love doesn’t listen to her, she doesn’t know what she speaks of.” He said glancing over at Elena. “She likes to tell stories to make things more interesting for you since you do not remember anything,” Marcus said bringing Anabel a cup of punch. “This should help you rest tonight.”

“What is it?” Anabel said taking the drink and looking at her. It didn’t have any kind of spell, and it was a thick red colored drink.

“It’s fruit punch it’s something we’re told humans enjoy.” He said clearing his throat. “It has helped you humans relax.”

“But I thought I was a demon?” Anabel said shaking her head. “I mean that is what Pete said I was.” She said taking her first drink, she didn’t mind the taste that much.

“Well I don’t know what you are, I know you used to be a human and you might still be one,” Marcus said shaking his head. “So how does it taste?”

“It’s alright.” She said drinking half the cup. “I am getting tired, I don’t think I’ve rested very well.” She said putting the cup aside.

Marcus picked up the cup, he was happy she drank the entire thing. He handed Elena the cup, picked Anabel up, and took her to her room, he put her to bed. “Good night love, I am glad I found you before the Angels did.” He said shaking his head before he left the room.

Marcus walked down the stairs, Dremis and Elena stood there waiting for him to say something, when he didn’t Dremis did. “How are we going to take care of her without the Angel’s knowing about her?” he said shaking his head.
