ELINNAWhatever epidemic that was going on that made the noise outside to pick up, needed to stop. It had woken me up and it was keeping me from falling back asleep. I didn't know why in the world they couldn't just work in peace. Not being able to call back asleep, I dragged my tired body from the bed and walked outside, draping my robe over me to tell them to please keep it down. When I opened the door, my eyes weren't even open yet because it was too damn bright. “Good morning, My Queen.” I took a deep breath, trying to be as nice as possible. “Its not a good morning. Please, keep it down, I'm trying so hard to sleep. If you can't keep it down, skip this floor and go to the next. When I'm awake, you can go crazy. Is that good enough?”I had to force my eyes open so they don't think that they were talking to a crazy person. The maid in front of me curtsied. “My apologies, My Queen. It’s just that the King is in the house and he doesn't like it when we're doing chores and he
CARLISLE I didn't want to bother myself with checking in on the kid. I believe that why his nanny was there for or whoever that lady was. But I just couldn't help it. I kept looking over my shoulder to see if he was still sleeping or if there were any scratches on his body so I could go back there and have a reason to kill Roman. When the car finally pulled into the compound, I could feel that Carlsile’s body was beginning to get tired so I stayed in the car while Gomez opened the door for them. “Thank you so much, I don't know what I would have done without you.”Gomez placed his hand on her shoulder, rubbing it gently. “It’s fine. But please be careful. Don't be too trusting of anyone. And one last thing, Helen. Elinna must not know about what happened.”From the way Helen was acting, she didn't seem like someone who had been kidnapped. She seemed rather calm. But what do I know about being kidnapped? Things might have changed since the last time. “Okay so what exactly do I te
CARLISLEThere was a man on his way down the stairs when we entered the house and he looked like he was in a hurry. “Carlisle, what kind of madness is this? Coming to my house at this hour, for what? Have you finally lost it?” I would guess that this is the Roman that Carlisle was talking about. I turned around to look at Gomez to make sure that I was right. When he finally gave me a nod, I turned back to the man before me. “I’m sorry, did you and Carlisle have a meeting time? My bad, I was not informed. Maybe I'm should go and come back.” I began to walk away but when I thought about how his men almost killed me outside, I decided against it.“If you do things like this again, I'll make sure you never see your son.” That was the icing on the cake. I turned back to him with a smile. “You know, Carlisle and I actually made a deal and he wanted me to help him get back his son and that's what I'm here to do. So whatever business that you have J with him, please extend it till I l
CARLISLE. As we sat in the car on our way back to the City, I couldn't help but stick my head out and inhale the clean and fresh night breeze. It must have been very late because there were barely any cars on the road. Whatever the time was, it was just right. “What about Elinna?” Gomez didn't look back. “She’s at the house. I would presume she is sleeping by now.”Of course, she would be sleeping by now. It's better she was preoccupied with something else. All she would do is stand in my way. “Gomez, you know what's funny? She sdoung everything she cannot get rid of me but here is Carlisle…begging for my help. How sad.”The conflict of interest was just too jarring. I wonder how she would feel if she finds out that Carlisle came to ask for my help when she wasn't home. Oh, she would be so mad. But whoever this person was that took Carlisle's son, he must have been very stupid. Oh well, thier business has nothing to do with me. All I'm there to do is retrieve the boy and take
ELINNA “I don't know how things have been done around here. But id gladly tell you that I'm in charge now and that means that I can do what the hell I want. I mean, I do have the seal now and all that. You know, I always wondered why you all hated women so much and wanted nothing good for me.”I was shocked when I went through the Kingdom's rules concerning Councilmen and I had to confirm it from Gomez. That's why he brought me this file. It was a background check on all of them in the King's court. Personally, I think the rules concerning the councilmen were ridiculous but seeing how they were behaving, it suited them just right. “You are not allowed to have wives. In order to become Councilmen, you must not have sexual relations with a woman for the rest of your lies and that means, no wives or children. That is the saddest thing I've ever heard. But is it enough to hate women and make their lives miserable just because yours is?” The shock on their faces matched that of the bl
ELINNA The maids helped me get ready. “The King has asked that you have the meeting away from here. In order to avoid…you know what. You can have the meeting in the garden, just like the last time.”That was fine. Whether here or anywhere else, they'd say what they wanted to do. It didn't matter to me. Since it wasn't the first time, it didn't seem so weird when the maids helped me dress up. Gomez came in when I'd worn my gown. “Are you going to be there like the last time?” He shook his head, not even looking at me. “I have something to do. But you have to tell them what the King has decided. No matter what they say, let them know that it has already been done. I believe in you.”Dealing with those men has never been an issue. The more I see them, the easier it gets to deal with each and everyone of them respectively. He stretched a file to me. “This is what you asked for. Take your time reading it before the meeting. You're going to need what's in there.”I nodded at him an
ELINNA I thought he had sent Gomez after me to stop me from going ahead with what we had just talked about. But no, he sent Gomez to tell the guards to get the blacksmith and bring him to the house. “Gomez, that won't be necessary.. I'll go to him. It's not a big deal.”He nodded, stepping out of the way for me to go to the car. As much as it seemed like a big deal, I didn't seem happy. Maybe it was because I had just witnessed Carlisle carving himself up like a thanksgiving chicken or because I knew I was about to be in for it with those archaic men. Throughout the car ride, my mind wandered all over the place but was not focused on anything in particular. The door suddenly opened. “My Queen, we're here.” I looked around me. We were in the pack, the people going about their daily lives. This was the first time I had been in the pack in a very long time. Things hadn't changed much. Well, except the fact that I had the entire street staring directly at me. I didn't blame t
CARLISLE “I wish I were joking, Carlisle. And don't be mistaken to think that it's my only request because it's not. As a matter of fact, that's just my first.”This is outrageous and I won't give audience to this. I was going to be pushed to do something I didn't want to. I was trying so hard to avoid this but it seemed like I didn't have a choice. “Over my dead body will I do something like that.” His smile dropped, obviously not expecting me to say no to his request. He slammed the glass cup on the wall, shattering it to pieces. “Get ready to bury your son! I will make sure that I avenge my family that you killed! You think you could easily get away with it? You took everything away from and now, I'll start with your son!” I grabbed his shirt collar. “Roman! If anything should happen to my son! So help me, if a hair on his head is touched! I will chase you to the ends of the earth and make sure that I get revenge. I will make sure what you and everything associated with you
CARLISLEI got to the City earlier than I expected. Gomez had forwarded everything that I needed and I decided to check his house first. There was a high chance that he would most likely be there by this time. As expected, I was stopped at the gate. “Who are you here to see?” I didn't have the time to answer stupid questions so I brought out my gun and pointed it at the guard. That put all the other guards at alert and caused about ten gun to be pointed at me but I didn't care. “Go in and tell that bastard that I want to see my son, right now or I can empty this clip into all of you and still go in to see him.”He gave them the signal to step back for a bit. “What’s going on there? Let him through, I'm expecting him.”He had a smile on his face and it angered me that he didn't see this entire thing as anything and it pissed me off. I jumped down before I even stopped the car and I aimed it at him as I walked closer, not caring about the roughly twenty men that had their guns o
