The rain fell in sheets over the streets of Canada, each drop like icy fingers crawling across her skin. Matilda shivered, pressing her arms around herself, wishing she were anywhere but here, standing alone at the empty bus stop.

A low rumble broke the night. A car approached, cutting through the storm with effortless authority. Headlights gleamed off the wet asphalt - black, sleek, perfect. The engine's growl was powerful, deliberate.

Her breath hitched.

It was Easton.

The car stopped smoothly in front of her. He was inside, calm, unmoved by the storm around him, every inch the picture of controlled dominance. The door unlocked with a soft click, and he rolled down the window. His eyes, sharp and dark as obsidian, locked onto hers.

"Get in."

She froze. "I... I'm waiting for the bus," she stammered.

"I'm aware," he said, voice low, dangerously soft. It was polite, almost civil - yet there was no room for refusal.

"I'll be fine-" she began, forcing a laugh, but it faltered under his stare.

"I wasn't asking," he cut in, tone colder than the rain outside. The words dripped authority. The kind that made obedience feel like the only rational choice.

Her hands trembled slightly as she stepped forward. He reached across and grabbed her wrist, firm and possessive, guiding her into the car. His touch was commanding, claiming territory in a way that made her pulse spike. She obeyed silently.

The door closed with a resonant click, and the storm seemed to fade behind the walls of the car. Inside, the air smelled of leather, rain, and something faintly intoxicating - the raw scent of power.

He didn't speak as he drove. His presence was magnetic, dangerous, like a predator aware of every subtle detail in his surroundings - and of her. Matilda sat stiffly, heart hammering, trying to ignore how aware she was of him: his dominance, his control, his complete lack of compromise.

"Where are we going?" she whispered, voice barely audible over the rain.

His jaw flexed; a ghost of a smirk curved his lips, though his eyes remained sharp, unreadable. "Home."

She blinked. "I- I can tell you my address-"

"I wasn't talking about yours."

Her stomach clenched. She turned toward him, but he never broke eye contact with the road, every movement precise, every breath measured. The storm outside seemed to pale beside the storm of power he exuded.

The car slowed, stopping in front of a mansion that seemed carved from darkness itself - glass, steel, and marble gleaming under the rain. Only someone like him could live here. Only someone like him deserved it.

The rain drummed against the marble driveway as the car pulled into the estate. Easton's mansion loomed like a fortress of steel and glass, modern and impossibly grand, perched atop the hill with panoramic views of the city lights below. Every angle screamed wealth, power, and control - a reflection of its owner.

The driveway sparkled under the storm, lined with carefully sculpted hedges, fountains that glimmered with motion-activated lights, and polished stone that reflected the headlights like a mirror. Luxury cars - Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Rolls-Royces - were parked in precise order, each more expensive than most people's homes. One of the sleekest, a midnight black Aston Martin, was the car that had brought her here.

They got out of his car.

She whispered, almost to herself, "This... this is your place?"

"Yes." His voice was flat, commanding, and magnetic. Then, without moving his gaze from hers, he added, "Inside."

Her mind spun, but his presence compelled obedience. The storm in her chest roared as she stepped out. He reached for her, one hand firm on her back, possessive, marking her territory with a dominance that made her pulse leap.

"Why?" she asked, voice shaky but trying to sound defiant.

"Because I said so," he replied, voice low, velvet-dark, impossible to argue with. "And you're coming with me."

Her name - Matilda - rolled off his tongue like a warning and a promise all at once. She obeyed without realizing it, following him into the shadows of his world, feeling both terrified and inexplicably drawn.

The door closed behind them with a soft click. Outside, the rain fell, relentless and cold. Inside, Easton's power filled the space, and she knew - with every fiber of her being - that this night was the beginning of something dangerous, irresistible, and entirely his.

Inside, the foyer stretched endlessly, a cathedral of dark marble and polished obsidian surfaces. A chandelier of cut crystal hung from the ceiling, scattering the soft light across priceless abstract paintings. The smell of leather, rare wood, and faint cologne filled the air - a scent that screamed Easton.

"Wait... this..." Matilda's voice faltered. The enormity of his world was suffocating yet intoxicating.

"Don't stare. Come in." His tone was sharp, commanding, and undeniably magnetic. He led her down a corridor lined with floor-to-ceiling windows, each opening onto private gardens lit with hidden LED lights. The rain outside reflected in the polished floors, creating a surreal glow.

The living area was a masterclass in minimalistic opulence - walls of dark stone, contemporary furniture in black and deep grey, and a piano that gleamed under the ambient lighting. Glass shelves displayed trophies, awards, and rare artefacts from around the world - proof of a life lived at the pinnacle of wealth and influence.

"Impressive," Matilda whispered, feeling a strange mix of awe and fear.

He didn't answer. Instead, he gestured for her to sit on a leather chaise lounge. He moved with predatory grace, every step measured, controlled, magnetic, as he poured a drink from a crystal decanter - the amber liquid catching the dim light.

"Most people never see this," he said, voice low and dark, finally meeting her eyes. "Few are allowed in my world. Fewer survive it."

Her pulse raced. The mansion, the cars, the power he exuded - it was intoxicating, dangerous, and completely his. Every detail whispered control, dominance, and wealth that few could imagine. He wasn't just rich; he was untouchable, commanding, and darkly magnetic, a storm contained in human form.

Matilda realized, with a mixture of fear and fascination, that she had stepped into a world where every move, every glance, was his to command.

The rain rattled against the floor-to-ceiling windows, turning the night into a symphony of sound that echoed through the cavernous mansion. Easton stood near the grand piano, the soft glow of ambient lights casting sharp shadows across his face. Every movement was precise, deliberate, and impossible to ignore.

Matilda's heart pounded as she remained near the leather chaise lounge, unsure whether to sit or flee. He didn't ask - he didn't need to.

"You're staring," he said, his voice low, cold, and yet dripping with dangerous charm. He took a slow step toward her, the distance closing with every measured movement. "Curiosity... or fear?"

"Both," she whispered, almost without realizing it.

He smirked, a predator's smile, sharp and intoxicating. "Good. Fear keeps you alive. Curiosity keeps you close."

Before she could react, he reached for her hand - not gently, but possessively. His fingers curled around hers, holding them in a grip that was both protective and territorial. He lifted her hand slightly, showing it off as if to declare ownership before placing it back down on the chaise. Matilda's breath hitched. She wanted to pull away, but his presence was suffocating in the most thrilling way.

"You see this?" His voice was sharper now, commanding. "These marks... from him." He gestured toward her hand, his thumb brushing over her skin. "He will never touch you again. Not while I decide it."

Matilda swallowed, her pulse racing. The possessiveness, the intensity, the unshakable confidence - it was magnetic. She could feel it in every inch of the room, in every flicker of his gaze.

He circled her slowly, like a storm contained in a man, eyes dark, calculating, teasing. "Do you understand?" His words were clipped, the way he referred to her in the third person making her cheeks warm. She was more than aware that this wasn't a question - it was an assertion.

"Yes... Mr. Easton," she breathed, the words foreign yet somehow fitting in the charged tension between them.

He stopped suddenly, close enough that she could feel the heat radiating from him. The rain outside painted streaks on the windows, but inside, the air was charged with something far more dangerous. He leaned closer, his voice a low whisper against her ear. "And yet... you think you can escape me?"

Matilda shivered, torn between defiance and a pull she couldn't resist. She tried to step back, but he didn't move. Instead, he tilted his head, eyes locking on hers, a dark, commanding force that seemed to reach into her very soul.

Rain beat against the windows like a pulse.

The sound filled the vast drawing room - a place too immaculate to feel human. Polished black floors. White marble fireplace. A grand piano gleaming in the corner like it had witnessed confessions before.

Matilda stood by the door, drenched from the storm, clutching her coat like armour. Easton Hale didn't move from where he leaned against the piano, one hand resting on the edge, the other holding a glass of whisky.

"Why did you bring me here?" she asked, voice shaking with the cold and something else.

He didn't look at her. "Because I was done watching you walk away from me."

Her brows knit. "You could've just called."

His gaze finally lifted - slow, deliberate. "You wouldn't have come."

The way he said it made her breath catch. Like he already owned the truth of her.

"I shouldn't be here," she said quietly.

He pushed off the piano and walked toward her. His steps echoed, smooth and unhurried, the sound of control dressed in a suit. "It's raining, kitten. The bus won't come for another hour."

"Don't call me that," she muttered.

He stopped a few feet away. "Why? You don't like it?"

"It sounds... wrong."

A faint smirk ghosted his lips. "It's supposed to."

Her pulse stumbled. "You're insane."

He tilted his head, eyes tracing her soaked sleeves, the tremor in her hands. "You're freezing."

"I'm fine."

"You're lying."

He set his glass down on the piano with a soft clink. Then he reached for her coat. She flinched back.

"Don't," she whispered.

"I'm not asking," he said.

His tone was low, not loud, but it had the weight of command - the kind of voice people obeyed before they realized why. He took the coat gently but firmly from her shoulders, letting it fall across the chair beside them.

Her breath came uneven now. The room felt smaller, heavier.

He studied her like she was an equation he didn't trust. "You walk home every night alone?"

"It's not your concern."

He gave a soft laugh - humourless. "Everything about you has become my concern."

"Mr Easton-"

"Easton," he corrected, eyes meeting hers. "When we're alone, you call me Easton."

"I'm not-"

"Try again."

His voice lowered further, smooth as sin.

She swallowed. "Easton."

The sound of his name in her voice did something to him. His jaw flexed. "Good."

He turned away, pacing once toward the piano. The stormlight cut across him, all black lines and clean edges. "My family is planning to ruin my peace again. Arranged marriage. A puppet bride."

"That sounds like a personal problem."

He glanced over his shoulder, a dangerous amusement flickering in his eyes. "It was, until you."

She blinked. "Me?"

"You're going to be my fiancée."

The words landed like thunder.

She stared at him. "You can't be serious."

"I never joke about business."

"Business?" she repeated.

"That's all marriage is," he said. "A contract. You'll play the part until my mother stops interfering."

She laughed - the sound brittle. "And why would I do that?"

He crossed the distance again, slower this time, as if every step was a dare. "Because I don't hear 'no' very often."

"That's not a reason."

His gaze sharpened. "It's the only one that matters."

The rain outside grew heavier. The piano keys reflected lightning.

She whispered, "You're mad."

He leaned closer, just enough that she could feel the heat of him. "Madness built this house, kitten." His breath touched her ear. "And it can burn for you too."

Her pulse jumped.

He straightened, studied her face. For a moment, there was silence - thick, alive. Then his hand brushed a strand of wet hair from her cheek. His thumb lingered just beneath her jaw.

"You should take off those clothes," he said softly. "Before you catch a fever."

"I'm not-"

He cut her off. "You think I'm offering?" His tone turned darker. "That was an order."

Her breath hitched.

He turned away before she could answer, walking to the fireplace and picking up his glass again. "There's a bathroom down the hall. Clean towels in the cabinet. Take them. I'll have something sent for you to wear."

She stood frozen.

"Go on," he said without looking back. "Before I change my mind about being civil."

Her voice barely found her. "You drag me here, bark orders at me, and expect me to-"

"To listen," he finished, turning his head slightly. His eyes caught hers in the reflection of the window - dark, unreadable. "You're under my roof now, kitten. That means you follow my rules."

She swallowed, throat tight. "And if I don't?"

He smiled then - slow, devastating. "Then I'll make you."

The fire cracked between them. The city lights blurred in the rain. And for the first time, Matilda wasn't sure if she was trapped - or protected.

"You'll pretend to be my fiancée," he continued, calm again, clinical. "For a few weeks. Then we'll 'break up'. I'll tell my family my heart's shattered. They'll back off."

"Mr Easton, I-"

"I won't touch you," he interrupted, tone so clipped it almost stung.

Her cheeks flushed instantly.

"I wasn't-"

He smirked faintly. "I'll pay you. More than you make in a year."

Her gaze dropped to her rain-stained dress. "Yeah, I probably need that," she muttered.

A knock came. Easton opened the door. A servant entered with her cat in his arms.

"Sparkles!" Matilda gasped, taking the animal. The soft purr against her chest grounded her-until she looked up.

He was watching her. Not with warmth, but with a curious, possessive stillness.

"Shall I take that nod as agreement?" he asked quietly.

She blinked. "I-yes."

Right then, her stomach growled. The sound echoed like betrayal. His lips twitched-half amusement, half power. He grabbed an apple from a crystal bowl and held it out to her.

"Eat," he said simply, voice low enough to feel like a touch.

She obeyed. He turned and walked out of the room.
