12. The Pour!

Author's POV

Egon scooped her in his arms and got out of the tub; it happened so quickly that she didn't even get the chance to struggle.

A loud scream escaped her lips when he placed her under the cold shower, which was freezing her bones. She hugged herself and gasped for air.

Egon hovered over her, cutting the water, which was punishing her. Now it fell like a waterfall on his back while shielding her.

She was shivering under him, and her skin had turned pale.

"You love testing my patience, don't you, Emerald?"

He grabbed her jaw and forced her to look at him while his eyes wandered over her beautiful body.

She was standing naked in front of him, only in her panties. He can't risk ripping that off because then it would be difficult for him to control. That thin cloth is the only thing which is keeping his monster inside.

He has received intense training in controlling his emotions, but everything goes in vain when this woman comes in front of him.

"Egon, please trust me... I don't know anything."

She begged, her body shivering beyond control.

"You have all my property, all my documents. You can check!"

"You want to try the hard way, fine!"

He gritted and pushed her down, she fell on her knees and his hardness came face to face with her.

She shook her head but his eyes didn't show any mercy.

She knows that if he has said that, then he will really strip her of her dignity.

He grabbed her jaw but she quickly grabbed his hand.

"Mad King!... He might have it somewhere... There are hidden chambers in my castle, you can check them."

She said in one breath.

Egon let go of her jaw and knelt in front of her.

"You always like the hard way, don't you?"

He gritted his teeth, annoyed, and she looked at him, defeated.

He turned off the shower and she shivered uncomfortably.

Her frozen bones felt a little relieved when he turned on the steam. He wrapped her in a robe and dried her hair because she was in no condition to move.

She just stood there silently with watery eyes. He cupped her face and brought it closer to his, their lips were a second apart.

"If I don't find it there then even your devil won't be able to save you."

He patted her cheek with the threat and walked away.

Hot tears escaped her eyes as she clutched her robe tightly. She is not sure where it's hidden; there is only a fifty per cent chance that it's there. She wiped her tears and rushed back to her room.

Emerald was sleeping in her room after her intense interrogation with Egon. She was tangled in bedsheets on the floor as she was still not worthy of getting the bed.

She was tossing and turning, not because of the cold floor but because of the heat Egon had awakened in her.

Her body was still struggling to forget his touch. The heat and sparks are hard to forget.

She groaned and sat up while snatching the bedsheets from her body and tossing them away. Her face was on fire and more than that, her core was on fire.

She knew that it was going to happen, Egon's touch is more dangerous than his tortures. He knows how to play with your body and how to handle a woman. She knew that she is fucked the moment he touched her.

Emerald rubbed her face and pushed back her hair with a deep breath.

She can't even close her eyes, she imagines him touching her whenever she tries to close her eyes. The way he touched her blossoms, it's still fresh in her mind and she can still feel the touch on her skin.

She can get temporary relief by touching herself, but he can watch her on cameras, and that's not even her concern. The thing is she can't let him win by giving in. She can't give up in front of his twisted torture. She will die before touching herself for him.

She got up and rushed towards the bathroom. Cold water was the most hated on her list, but she still turned on the shower and stood under it. It was needed to snap herself out of her sinful thoughts.

She took a cold shower, her body calmed down but her mind was still there. He shouldn't have touched her. He knew what he was doing.

She looked out, and it was raining heavily. She wanted to go out to let her chaos flow with the pour. She walked out and Layla froze when she saw her in the hallway.

"Queen__"

"Don't worry, Layla... I don't intend to run in this heavy rain with 4 kg iron around each ankle... I just need to clear my fucked up mind."

She rushed out and sat at the last step of the lawn which wasn't in shade. She rested her head on her knees as she stared in the dark aimlessly.

After some time, when she cleared her thoughts, she saw Egon sitting in the dark, on a swing. His large, bulky arms were spread on the armrest, his head was hanging back, and his bare chest was fighting with the aggressive rain.

He was fighting his own battles while leaving her wounded in the Warfield. She got up and saw how much pain his face held. Eyes would have been more painful but it was closed.

She walked towards him in a daze, her legs were not in control as she closed the distance between them. Her legs stopped in front of him, and her eyes stared at him, trying to feel the pain he was feeling right now. The pain which she has given him and the pain which he is trying to return to her, but she is too heartless to feel it.

She stood there as rain poured on both of them. He was still unaware of her presence, or that's what she thought, because as soon as the thunder roared, she flinched, his eyes snapped open and fell directly on her.

She froze in her place, realisation hit her and she stepped back in fear. Her eyes filled with terror when he slowly stood up, his tall figure hovering over her as he stared down at her.

Her eyes quickly looked down and she grew anxious as thunder roared again. She turned on her heels to run inside but he was quick to grab her arms and pull her back to his chest.

Her back collided with his chest and she gasped for breath.

"Please, let me go!"

She begged while keeping her eyes tightly shut.

"Why are you running away?"

He placed the side of his face on her cheek and she took a deep breath. She was caged in his arms and it was hard to set herself free from it.

"You know the reason!"

She fell numb in his hold, knowing he wouldn't let her go. His rough stubble scratched her delicate cheeks.

"I know the reason, my love, but that's not my question."

He wrapped his other arm around her.

She tried to hold back but broke down in tears as soon as he called her that. It was hard to hold back. She cried so hard that it was hard to breathe for her.

Egon just held her in his cage until her sobs turned silent.

"You know I am scared of thunder. Let me go!"

She pleaded.

"Such a shameful thing for me that thunder scares you more than me. I need to try harder to top the list, isn't it?"

He mocked.

She turned around in his hold and looked into his eyes.

"You don't want to scare me, Egon. You want to break me."

Her tears mixed with the rain.

"And you are doing great! "

He smirked.

"No, my love... There is a lot to come ahead."

He embraced her in his arms.

"Embrace yourself, because I am going to show you hell."

She closed her eyes when he kissed her head threateningly.

  • Ashes Between Us!   89. Survivors!

Author's POV Egon held her like a man who had been starving for years and finally had something warm in his arms again. His arms tightened around her lazy morning frame, almost too tightly, as if she might dissolve into thin air the second he loosened his grip.“To be honest,” his voice came out low, a confession dragged straight from the center of his chest, “I thought you would never accept me again.”His thumb brushed her waist in slow circles — a habit he developed long before, one that never truly died.“I still don’t feel deserving of you,” he admitted, the words cracking slightly, “even though I’m selfish enough to not let you go.”Emerald’s answer came not through words at first, but through the way she burrowed even closer, nuzzling into the warmth of him like she was trying to sink into his bones. There was no fear, no hesitation — just a quiet, hungry comfort she had missed far more than she had expected.“I was in the same dilemma,” she murmured. She tilted her head to me

  • Ashes Between Us!   88. Twisted Memories!

Author's POV Rafael had been too calm-too smug-when he asked her, "Are you ready to meet the real you?"There was something hidden behind that tone... something sharp, something calculated. Emerald should have protested. She should have pushed back. But at that moment, she was willing to walk into fire if it meant finding out who she really was.Rafael placed a naked sword on the table.A heavy, gleaming blade with a history soaked into its metal."Seen one of these before?" he asked, eyes gleaming with mischief. "Wanna touch?"Emerald's brows pulled together. She knew that question wasn't innocent. Nothing Rafael did was ever innocent. But the curiosity inside her was louder than the warning bells. She stepped forward and traced a finger along the blade-slowly, thoughtfully. She couldn't imagine the things Rafael had used this sword for.She wasn't sure she wanted to imagine."Ohh... who do we have here?"The voice behind her made her turn sharply.Another man stood there. Strikingl

  • Ashes Between Us!   87. The Love!

Author's POV The ocean was about to witness their reunion again.Egon’s lips crashed onto hers with a hunger that had been rotting in his chest for far too long. It wasn’t a kiss — it was a claim, a scream, a desperate pull of two halves that had been cut apart and finally slammed back together. Emerald clutched his shirt with trembling fingers, dragging him impossibly closer, like she wanted to pull him under her skin.He groaned into her mouth, a raw, broken sound that betrayed every night he spent missing her. His body pressed into hers as the waves curled around them, cool on their skin, nothing compared to the heat rising between them. Her hands cupped his jaw, fingers shaking as they memorised him again — the stubble, the sharp lines, the warmth that had once been her home.“Egon…” she whispered against his lips, breath trembling. He closed his eyes like her voice hurt him. “Say it again,” he murmured, forehead resting on hers. “I’ve forgotten how to breathe without it.”She di

  • Ashes Between Us!   86. She is back!
