Author’s POV

Years had passed, yet time had failed to soften the legacy of Egon and Emerald. Their empire was stronger than ever, feared by the underworld, respected by allies, untouched by enemies. Their castle was rebuilt stone by stone, not as a reminder of their wounds but as a monument of their victory over destiny.

What destiny meant for destruction, they turned into forever.

And the world watched them with the same disbelief even now the two villains who were destined to destroy each other… chose to build a kingdom together.

The ocean breeze still roared against the cliff walls, just like the night they reunited. But now, the castle didn’t echo grief. It echoed laughter, command, and absolute power… especially from the new heir they raised.

Ragnar Bismarck.

The one who carried both thrones in his blood.

Sixteen years old, the age when most boys were still discovering themselves. Ragnar already knew who he was. Trained in martial arts since he could walk, he moved like a predator by instinct. Calculated and calm like Egon. Sharp, quick, and unapologetically ruthless like Emerald.

People who met him whispered the same line every time:

“The world survived his parents… will it survive him?”

Inside the training arena, Ragnar pinned a grown fighter twice his size to the ground with nothing but controlled precision. No wasted energy, no anger, just skill.

The man coughed blood. Ragnar simply stood up, rolled his shoulders and said:

“Again?”

His opponent backed off instantly. One glare from Ragnar was enough to shut down any argument.

Egon entered the room, arms folded, amusement in his eyes.

“You’ll break all your sparring partners at this rate.”

Ragnar huffed.

“They break too easily.”

Egon smirked, proud but slightly worried.

“You’re not supposed to destroy allies.”

Ragnar took the water bottle from him but didn’t drink.

“It depends on the ally.”

Egon chuckled.

“You really are your mother’s son.”

Ragnar didn’t deny it. He tossed the towel aside.

“Dad, I need to ask you something.”

Egon paused. Ragnar didn’t ask questions, he calculated, acted, and executed. Asking meant something was unsettling him.

“Go ahead.”

“What happens when you meet someone who can ruin your focus?”

Egon’s brows knitted.

“A threat?”

Ragnar shook his head slowly.

“Not a threat… something worse.”

A beat passed and Egon understood.

So it begins.

His son wasn’t asking about war or business. He was asking about a woman. Not that Ragnar would ever say it out loud.

Egon leaned against the wall, arms crossed.

“Do you want her? Or do you want to forget her?”

Ragnar’s jaw clenched, a mirror image of Egon from years ago.

“Both.”

A small, humorless smile tugged Egon's lips.

“Then you are hopelessly doomed, son.”

Ragnar said nothing. His eyes darkened.

“When you fall,”

Egon continued.

“You will burn. You will destroy anything that pulls her away from you and you will destroy yourself if she tries to leave. That is how we love. It’s not gentle. It’s not poetic. It’s war.”

Ragnar swallowed hard, fists curling.

“Is it worth it?”

Egon didn’t hesitate.

“Every damn second.”

Ragnar nodded slowly, processing. Then the mask slid back, calm, composed, unreadable.

“Don’t tell Mom.”

Egon smirked.

“I don’t like getting stabbed so I won’t.”

Ragnar finally grabbed the bottle, took a long sip, and tossed it aside casually.

“When the time comes,”

Egon added as Ragnar started walking away

“You’ll either conquer her… or she’ll conquer you. In our family, there is no in-between.”

Ragnar didn’t look back, but his voice carried the promise of a different storm.

“No one will ever conquer me.”

And with that, he left, leaving behind the echo of a future story the world wasn’t ready for.

Night settled across the castle as if dimming lights for royalty.

Emerald stood on the balcony, wearing black silk robe, admiring the ocean she once bled on, the same ocean she now ruled over. Her emerald eyes still held that sharpness that made entire syndicates tremble… yet softened the moment she felt Egon wrap his arms around her from behind.

He nuzzled her neck.

“Did you threaten three men today or four?”

She smirked.

“Seven. But two fainted so technically five.”

He laughed, his lips on her cheek.

“You still terrify the entire underworld.”

“And you still act like you’re not proud of it.”

“Oh, I am extremely proud,”

He whispered.

“My wife terrifies the world… and chooses to love only me.”

She turned around to face him, looping her arms around his neck.

“You still love me like you did at the beginning?”

“Wrong,”

Egon corrected.

“I love you more now. Loving you at the beginning was a choice. Loving you now is the only way I breathe.”

Emerald clicked her tongue dramatically.

“Smooth, Bismarck. Very poetic.”

“You’re welcome,”

He winked.

She rolled her eyes but melted into his arms anyway.

“Can you believe we made it here?”

She murmured.

“People bet on our downfall. Some even prepared graveyards for us.”

“And instead,”

He kissed her slowly

“They had to witness our wedding, our empire, and our heir.”

Emerald chuckled.

“Ah yes, Ragnar Bismarck, half angel, half apocalypse.”

“He’s going to be worse than us.”

Egon replied proudly.

“Worse?”

Emerald scoffed.

“He’s going to be unstoppable. I’m already terrified for whoever falls for him.”

“He already has someone in his head.”

Emerald’s eyes widened. “A girl?”

“You didn’t hear that from me.”

She laughed, shoulders shaking.

“God save her. She has no idea what kind of hurricane is headed toward her.”

Egon kissed her forehead.

“At least he won’t make our mistakes.”

Emerald hummed.

“No… he’ll make his own. And we’ll watch him survive them just like we survived ours.”

They stayed wrapped together, watching the waves crash against the rocks, the same sound they once feared, now a lullaby.

Emerald rested her head on Egon’s chest.

“You think the world will ever forgive us?”

He looked down at her with a soft, dangerous smirk.

“We never needed the world’s forgiveness. We only needed each other.”

“And Ragnar,” she added.

“And Ragnar,” he nodded.

Silence settled, warm and content.

Emerald traced his jaw.

“We’re still villains for them.”

Egon smiled.

“Good. Heroes are boring.”

She kissed him, slow and sure, the kind of kiss that didn’t belong to youth, but to eternity.

And for once, nothing hurt.

No separations.

No betrayals.

No wars.

Just love, powerful enough to break a universe… and gentle enough to hold it together afterward.

Emerald whispered against his lips, “We did it, Egon.”

He held her close, his voice barely audible.

“Together… we conquered everything.”

They were still feared by the world.

Still dark.

Still dangerous.

But they were alive, in love, and undefeated.

The villains didn’t die in the storm.

They learned how to dance in it and built a kingdom that would never fall.

And the legacy of the family…

was only just beginning.

The End!

  • Ashes Between Us!   89. Survivors!

Author's POV Egon held her like a man who had been starving for years and finally had something warm in his arms again. His arms tightened around her lazy morning frame, almost too tightly, as if she might dissolve into thin air the second he loosened his grip.“To be honest,” his voice came out low, a confession dragged straight from the center of his chest, “I thought you would never accept me again.”His thumb brushed her waist in slow circles — a habit he developed long before, one that never truly died.“I still don’t feel deserving of you,” he admitted, the words cracking slightly, “even though I’m selfish enough to not let you go.”Emerald’s answer came not through words at first, but through the way she burrowed even closer, nuzzling into the warmth of him like she was trying to sink into his bones. There was no fear, no hesitation — just a quiet, hungry comfort she had missed far more than she had expected.“I was in the same dilemma,” she murmured. She tilted her head to me

  • Ashes Between Us!   88. Twisted Memories!

Author's POV Rafael had been too calm-too smug-when he asked her, "Are you ready to meet the real you?"There was something hidden behind that tone... something sharp, something calculated. Emerald should have protested. She should have pushed back. But at that moment, she was willing to walk into fire if it meant finding out who she really was.Rafael placed a naked sword on the table.A heavy, gleaming blade with a history soaked into its metal."Seen one of these before?" he asked, eyes gleaming with mischief. "Wanna touch?"Emerald's brows pulled together. She knew that question wasn't innocent. Nothing Rafael did was ever innocent. But the curiosity inside her was louder than the warning bells. She stepped forward and traced a finger along the blade-slowly, thoughtfully. She couldn't imagine the things Rafael had used this sword for.She wasn't sure she wanted to imagine."Ohh... who do we have here?"The voice behind her made her turn sharply.Another man stood there. Strikingl

  • Ashes Between Us!   87. The Love!

Author's POV The ocean was about to witness their reunion again.Egon’s lips crashed onto hers with a hunger that had been rotting in his chest for far too long. It wasn’t a kiss — it was a claim, a scream, a desperate pull of two halves that had been cut apart and finally slammed back together. Emerald clutched his shirt with trembling fingers, dragging him impossibly closer, like she wanted to pull him under her skin.He groaned into her mouth, a raw, broken sound that betrayed every night he spent missing her. His body pressed into hers as the waves curled around them, cool on their skin, nothing compared to the heat rising between them. Her hands cupped his jaw, fingers shaking as they memorised him again — the stubble, the sharp lines, the warmth that had once been her home.“Egon…” she whispered against his lips, breath trembling. He closed his eyes like her voice hurt him. “Say it again,” he murmured, forehead resting on hers. “I’ve forgotten how to breathe without it.”She di

  • Ashes Between Us!   86. She is back!

Every stone, every hallway, every echo of that place carried the weight of what had been done to them—every wound they endured, every injustice that had carved itself into their story. And standing there now, the past scraped against his heart like broken glass, burning through the thin layer of hope he was clinging to.Emerald wanted to talk. But she wanted to talk here.In front of the castle that had shaped everything between them.He didn’t understand what she had in mind, and that uncertainty was eating him alive. His hope had been dying since last night.
