90. Epilogue 1!

Author's POV

No one in the criminal underworld, not a even single soul would have ever imagined this day would arrive.

Not in this lifetime at least.

If someone had dared to suggest that Egon Bismarck, the infamous Mafia King, the man whose silence was deadlier than gunfire would one day stand at an altar… waiting for his bride?

They would’ve been mocked.

Ridiculed.

Shot for their stupidity.

And if anyone had claimed that the Queen, the woman forged from violence, vengeance, and unbreakable will walk down an aisle in a breathtaking gown, ready to offer her heart to the man she once swore to ruin?

People would’ve placed bets on her blood before her vows.

Yet here they were! Not enemies. Not rivals. Not predators circling each other anymore.

Just two villains in love, a love that should’ve destroyed them long before it saved them.

And the world had absolutely no idea what to do with that.

Every major crime lord, assassin syndicate, cartel head, and underground monarch filled the cathedral. The air reeked of power, of expensive perfume, mistrust, and silent panic.

Because one thing was clear.

Egon was a disaster alone.

Emerald was a storm alone.

But together?

Together they were a defination of ruin.

The cathedral chosen for the ceremony wasn’t religious. It was older, grander, the kind of place built not for prayer, but for history to tremble in. Marble pillars reached toward heaven, gold chandeliers glittered like captured constellations, and the aisle was blanketed with fresh white and red roses.

An altar disguised as a battlefield, perfect for two villains becoming one.

Egon stood waiting, wearing a black suit cut so sharply it could’ve been a weapon. Velvet tie, diamond cufflink, a white rose on his chest, a detail Emerald insisted on.

He looked like sin, sculpted and breathing. Yet his eyes , that lethal, unreadable gaze held something no one had ever seen on him.

Nervousness! The Mafia King was nervous.

His hands were clenched. His jaw locked. His heartbeat almost audible because the doors were about to open. Because she was about to walk toward him.

The cathedral fell into silence so absolute that even the chandeliers seemed to stop shimmering.

Then the doors opened. And she appeared. Emerald.

The woman who walked through blood as casually as others walked through rain… was now walking on roses.

Her gown was magic stitched into fabric, the bodice dripping pearls and crystals that caught the light like meteor dust. The skirt flowed like liquid silver, swirling softly with every step she took. A delicate veil followed her, touched by gold threads, fragile and royal all at once.

She looked like heaven built from hell.

No escort.

No father figure.

She walked alone, powerful, sovereign, choosing her fate.

Gasps rippled through the room. A few men who had slit throats without blinking swallowed hard.

She wasn’t just looking beautiful. She was impossible.

And as she walked, she lifted her eyes, slow, steady, until they met Egon’s.

He forgot how to breathe for a moment. His chest tightened like someone had carved open his ribs and placed a bomb inside.

She was his! Finally!

Emerald’s lips curved into the softest smile, a smile reserved for him and him alone, love made perfect sense to the two standing at the altar.

When she reached him, Egon extended his hand. It trembled, barely, and only she noticed.

She took it assured and fearless.

“Hi,” she whispered.

“Hi,” he breathed back, voice rough.

“You look like you’re about to faint,” she teased.

“From you?” He smirked, eyes softening. “Always.”

She tried to hold the smile back but failed miserably. And he looked like he’d die for it.

The priest began speaking, but Egon didn’t glance away from her even once. Every guest, every danger, every wound from their past dissolved. Only she existed.

Then the priest announced what no one expected.

“The bride and groom will now speak their vows.”

Murmurs erupted with shock and disbelief. A mafia couple doing vows? Unthinkable.

Emerald squeezed Egon’s hand and he nodded for her to go first.

She drew in a breath not shaky, but grounded.

“Egon,” she said, voice soft but unwavering. “I never thought this moment was possible. Not with our history and scars we have on our hearts.”

Her chin lifted proudly.

“We tried to destroy each other. We tried so hard to outrun each other. But fate kept dragging us back.”

She paused, eyes turned glossy.

“I think it’s because broken things always find their missing pieces.”

The room went breathless.

“At first, I hated how much I needed you. Hated the way you lived under my skin. But now? I don’t think I could survive without you.”

Egon inhaled sharply not out of weakness, but out of feeling.

“You gave me hope when I didn’t want it. You held on when I pushed you away. You believed in us before I did. And because of you…”

Her voice cracked a bit.

“I believe in forever.”

Even the stone-hearted shifted uncomfortably, emotions were unfamiliar territory here.

“I promise to choose you in every lifetime,”

she continued.

“Through chaos. Through war. Through destiny if it tries to break us again. I choose you. Always you!”

Something in Egon shattered and rebuilt in the same second.

“My turn,”

he whispered.

He turned to fully face her, and every trace of restraint burned away.

“Emerald,”

He said, voice deep, raw, devastating.

“You are the most infuriating, stubborn, dangerous woman I have ever met.”

Crowd smiled at brutally real words.

“And the only woman I will ever love.”

Her breath stuttered at his words.

“You broke me,”

he continued.

“And I broke you. But somehow, we kept putting each other back together.”

He brought her hand to his chest, right over his heart.

“You made me human. You made me feel. You made me want things I never believed I deserved.”

No one had ever heard him speak with this kind of vulnerability and no one ever would again.

“You are my peace and my fire,”

he whispered.

“My chaos and my calm. And I swear, on everything that I am, that there is no universe where I let you go again.”

One tear slipped down her cheek.

He caught it with his thumb, gentle in a way that was lethal to watch.

“I promise to protect you. To fight with you and never against you. To stand beside you even when the world stands against us. And I promise to love you so fiercely that even death won’t know how to separate us.”

Silence wrapped around them, heavy, beautiful, terrifying.

Finally the priest cleared his throat, voice shaken but smiling.

“With the power vested in me… I now pronounce you husband and wife.”

Egon didn’t wait for permission.

He grabbed her waist and kissed her, fierce, reverent, unstoppable. Emerald gripped his lapels, kissing him back just as intensely.

The world exploded.

Some applauded.

Some stared blankly.

Some exchanged horrified looks.

Because everyone understood one thing instantly:

The game changed.

The power map changed.

The world changed.

Egon and Emerald together meant war for anyone foolish enough to test them.

When they finally parted, Emerald whispered breathlessly, “We’re really married.”

Egon smirked, brushing her bottom lip with his thumb.

“In my head, we always were.”

She laughed, a sound he’d burn the world to hear. He lifted their joined hands high, turning toward the audience.

Emerald leaned into him, her diamond ring catching the light like a tiny crown, not on her finger, but on her throne.

Together they walked back down the rose covered aisle, two villains who found heaven in each other.

…ready to build a future no one thought they deserved.

  • Ashes Between Us!   89. Survivors!

Author's POV Egon held her like a man who had been starving for years and finally had something warm in his arms again. His arms tightened around her lazy morning frame, almost too tightly, as if she might dissolve into thin air the second he loosened his grip.“To be honest,” his voice came out low, a confession dragged straight from the center of his chest, “I thought you would never accept me again.”His thumb brushed her waist in slow circles — a habit he developed long before, one that never truly died.“I still don’t feel deserving of you,” he admitted, the words cracking slightly, “even though I’m selfish enough to not let you go.”Emerald’s answer came not through words at first, but through the way she burrowed even closer, nuzzling into the warmth of him like she was trying to sink into his bones. There was no fear, no hesitation — just a quiet, hungry comfort she had missed far more than she had expected.“I was in the same dilemma,” she murmured. She tilted her head to me

  • Ashes Between Us!   88. Twisted Memories!

Author's POV Rafael had been too calm-too smug-when he asked her, "Are you ready to meet the real you?"There was something hidden behind that tone... something sharp, something calculated. Emerald should have protested. She should have pushed back. But at that moment, she was willing to walk into fire if it meant finding out who she really was.Rafael placed a naked sword on the table.A heavy, gleaming blade with a history soaked into its metal."Seen one of these before?" he asked, eyes gleaming with mischief. "Wanna touch?"Emerald's brows pulled together. She knew that question wasn't innocent. Nothing Rafael did was ever innocent. But the curiosity inside her was louder than the warning bells. She stepped forward and traced a finger along the blade-slowly, thoughtfully. She couldn't imagine the things Rafael had used this sword for.She wasn't sure she wanted to imagine."Ohh... who do we have here?"The voice behind her made her turn sharply.Another man stood there. Strikingl

Author's POV The ocean was about to witness their reunion again.Egon’s lips crashed onto hers with a hunger that had been rotting in his chest for far too long. It wasn’t a kiss — it was a claim, a scream, a desperate pull of two halves that had been cut apart and finally slammed back together. Emerald clutched his shirt with trembling fingers, dragging him impossibly closer, like she wanted to pull him under her skin.He groaned into her mouth, a raw, broken sound that betrayed every night he spent missing her. His body pressed into hers as the waves curled around them, cool on their skin, nothing compared to the heat rising between them. Her hands cupped his jaw, fingers shaking as they memorised him again — the stubble, the sharp lines, the warmth that had once been her home.“Egon…” she whispered against his lips, breath trembling. He closed his eyes like her voice hurt him. “Say it again,” he murmured, forehead resting on hers. “I’ve forgotten how to breathe without it.”She di

  • Ashes Between Us!   86. She is back!

Every stone, every hallway, every echo of that place carried the weight of what had been done to them—every wound they endured, every injustice that had carved itself into their story. Without Emerald beside him, the castle had become a living ghost, suffocating him with memories he wasn’t strong enough to face.So he had walked away.Yet today, he stood in front of it again. The familiar walls stared back at him like they recognised him—like they remembered the man who once ruled them. And standing there now, the past scraped against his heart like broken glass, burning through the thin layer of hope he was clinging to.Emerald wanted to talk. But she wanted to talk here.In front of the castle that had shaped everything between them.He didn’t understand what she had in mind, and that uncertainty was eating him alive. His hope had been dying since last night.
