Monday came and classes went on as normal. No one talked about anything unusual, just the normal boring stuff. As soon as the second period ended, Julianne left the class and went to where Cassian’s class was. She saw some students still inside, talking, while some already started to leave. Her eyes moved everywhere and there was no sign of Cassian or his friends.

She turned and started to walk back to her next class, hoping that Cassian was fine and things hadn’t gotten worse with him. As she

“You choose to be with a murderer rather than be with me.”Julianne frowned at the seventh word in his statement. She didn’t like how he talked about Cassian. It made her realize, that ever since she has been going out with him, he always has something to say about Cassian to make her feel like he is someone she shouldn’t associate with. Talk about gaslighting. But now…now she knows everything, and she won’t hesitate to prove to him that she can’t be deceived.“That murderer saved me more than once. That murderer cares a lot about me. And that murderer…became like that because he chose his friends over the people who wished him dead and wanted to have his friends killed. Would you have done the same if I were the one?” she asked and paused. “I didn’t think so, because you would rather not be known as a murderer who killed someone to save the one you claim to love.”The air thickened around them and Julianne felt a burning sensation in her to just release everything she has been keepin

Julianne sat at the bleachers with Lucien, their eyes focused in front of them, at the students playing. They didn’t speak much after he met her on her way to look for Marianne. Even though she was in haste, she knew she had unfinished business with Lucien, so she decided to give him the time. After today, there won’t be any confusion, she thought.Lucien lowered his eyes down to his hands and after a few seconds, he turned his head to look at Julianne. “Is he really worth it?” He asked her. He wanted to hear the answer from her, even though he already knew what it would be. When the incident happened, he had told her not to go because it could be dangerous, but she went anyway. She jumped right in front of danger all because of him. He should have known too, how she always pays attention to every little thing about him, even when his name is being mentioned.Julianne looked back at him and blinked. She didn’t want t say something that would hurt him. Instead of replying to his quest

Headmistress Eldryn was caught in surprise and it says it all in her expression, still she tried to compose herself. She didn’t think that Cassian would know things like that. Velvet would never tell anyone either, because if they knew, she knows where that would end her. No wonder Cassian came prepared, because he knew she would have caught onto his thoughts, but one of the benefits of being a vampire had worked for him. He hid his thoughts well and layered it with anger.“H—” she scoffed and asked, “How did you know Velvet is a hunter? Did she tell you that?”“Isn’t it obvious? No matter how hard you try to keep the truth, it will always surface somehow. You must already know that people like us hardly sleep at night. That is when activities go on most times, and I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen Velvet sneaking out. What would you have done if you were the one and you suspected her of killing someone close to you?”“So, did you follow her?” the headmistress asked.“Of cou

  • Ashes and Bloodlines    Why would you suspect me?

Julianne was already panting when she reached the front desk of the dorm. The woman looked at her and asked, “Is there anything you want?”“I think someone broke into my room,” she said and tried to catch her breath. The woman looked at her like the calmest person in the whole school, then she asked, “Are you Julianne Ashwynd?”|“Yes, I am,” Julianne answered.“Why weren’t you in your room last night?” she asked.Julianne couldn’t give the right answer the woman wanted to hear. But the woman didn’t waste her time either on waiting for the answer. When she saw that she was taking longer to respond, she opened a log book and said, “When they were doing the roll call, your room was vacant so we had to lock the door with the duplicate. This morning, someone called Marianne asked for your key, claiming she was your friend and wanted to drop something for you. I followed her and when she was done, I had the door locked.”Julianne was confused now. Last night, she didn’t take her dorm key al

“We need to leave.” That was the first thing she heard him say to her, and after that, they left the inn. Before leaving, Julianne saw the woman by the counter having her eyes down, like she was avoiding to look at them. Her reaction was the total opposite of when they first came in.They got on the bike and rode off, back to school. On the way, Julianne felt uncertain about a lot of things. Two of them include her relationship with Marianne and what she would be going back to meet. For some reason, she wished she doesn’t have to return, because she feared that her presence would only cause something bad to happen to the people close to her. That was the feeling she was having throughout the ride back to school. On riding into the gates of the school, Julianne remembered the first time she came in by the bus. Things were different back then, as it is now. Then, she was running away from something, from her real self, and trying to live differently, but now, she is going back to the pe

Every time Julianne was drawn to unconsciousness, she would open her eyes again to see if Cassian was still there. He was sitting at the foot of the bed and earlier, she worried about him sleeping on the cold floor, but he had told her not to worry about him. Fearing that she would wake up and not see him in the room, she tried to hold out until she would no longer have to worry about him disappearing from the room.“Cassian?” she called gently, almost in a tired voice.Cassian turned his head to see her awake and he asked, “Why are you not asleep?”Julianne sighed and stretched out her arm. She thought back on the events that happened earlier and she blinked slowly, almost sadly. “I don’t understand it.”“What?” Cassian asked, his eyes moving to her hand that was out.“I don’t understand why she had to die. She doesn’t have any grudge with anyone, so I wonder who did that to her.” Her voice went lower as she said, “Even my father doesn’t believe me anymore. He only came back because

“From the moment you came, something shifted and it is only the beings who lurks in the dark that knows. For some, it could mean danger for them. For another, it could mean another thing entirely. I also saw you as a threat and even now, a sleeping threat, until I find out exactly what you are. I h

Cassian froze on the spot and then staggered to the back a little. He raised his eyes as he looked at Julianne who now stood from the table, oblivious of what she had just done to him.“You are all the same,” she said as she blinked back the tears in her eyes. “And you all disgust me.”She left him

People stared and whispered to each other as Maximus strolled down the rooms. He finally reached a door and opened it. The other boy was inside, hanging upside down the bed and he darted his eyes towards the door.“Our guests are here,” he said and raised himself up. “But why are you early, Maximus

Ryker looked at the two vampires that looked back at him, then he moved his eyes to Cassian who was on the floor. He saw the dark line that had formed on his skin, as if they were embedded inside, looking nothing less than a tattoo. At first thought, he wondered if he was safe in a room with them,
