ASHINA’S POV

The flickering light of the tent’s oil lamp danced across the canvas walls, and as my eyes fluttered open, the scent of pine and leather filled my nose.

My body ached. A dull throb pulsed in my temple, and as I groaned softly, I lifted my hand to my head, attempting to gather fragments of memory.

Where…?

The fabric beneath me felt so different from the Blackfang Tribe—it was warmer, softer, scented faintly of tobacco and wolf musk. My heart skipped.

“I see you’re awake,” came a voice.

I turned my head sluggishly towards the source. It was Beta Kael, standing with his arms crossed near the entrance of the tent. His expression was blank, his usually composed features stiff.

I blinked. “Beta Kael…?”

He took a slow step forward and crouched beside the bed. “You passed out,” he said plainly. “After being forced to drink whatever vile drink they gave you.”

‘’How did you know?” I asked

“We saw everything. Alpha Boris stormed in mid-banquet and fought his way through.
