Chapter 6

Dos

My father’s bodyguard waited outside. I am certain that the old man was already inside, waiting for me. I parked my car when I noticed the guard mumbling something while holding a little microphone. What is he planning to do again?

“You came from the south. The bodyguard said that you sped off the car and headed south before you finally got home.” My father stated as he looked at me smiling from ear to ear.

“What does it have to do with you? As if you care about my errands.” I asked him sarcastically.

“Of course! I want to have a grandkid now. You should find someone to marry as soon as possible. I have found out that your good for nothing brat is cheating on you.” He merely laughed with the idea of Ashley cheating on me.

“Why are you so happy about that? You pressure your sons to give you grandkids but you don’t like Ashley. Well, I don’t care anyway.” I asked my father as he stood up suiting himself.

“The guards said you were with a girl and drove her into her small apartment. Just be careful with girls who are ambitious to climb up the society’s ladder.” He tapped my shoulders, still laughing gladly.

“You had a good day today. If not, I know you’d shout at me and threaten me into dating again because of what I have done with your ‘plans’ earlier this morning.” I stated, emphasizing the word ‘plans’.

“Of course, I am furious! I already have arranged a blind date for you and you have no way to decline it. Don’t even think of ditching the girl, I swear I will remove your name from the family’s registry.” My old man warned me before he left.

What the fuck is that?! Why the hell is he setting me up on a blind date again? Who is he to decide who to date and who will I avoid?

Even if I am mad about it, I still need to get going and meet the girl. I know how good my father is when executing his warnings. Thus, I don’t even have the heart to turn him down. I just need someone as a substitute and I am free from my responsibility.

Right! I think I need the help of Diez. He just got home after a year of studying from abroad. Wait for my call my turning thirties unmarried big brother!

“Hey! You called huh? Is there anything wrong again that my baby brother needs my help?” He asked sweetly on the other line.

“I am going out tonight, big bro. Mind if you join me as I wind up? I swear we can… you know what I mean.” I laughed as I invited him thinking about his expression when he knew what trouble he’s got into.

I heard him laugh too. I felt a bit guilty but I insisted on making my brother date girls for him to get married soon. I need a nephew now, or else my good father will pressure me harder to have kids.

“Right. I heard from the old man about your cheating bitch, I’m happy about it too. Just send me the address and I will be there.” He retorted which made me smile.

Everytime I call him, he’s always like that. He always says that he is so busy with his career that even my father can’t handle him. But when it comes to my requests, my every beck and call, he is always there to rescue.

Maybe he feels guilty of what he has done before. Diez Angelo Lamier is the firstborn son. And, the heir to my family’s wealth and the power in his hands while I am the substitute. But I have never resented him for that, I love my brother.

He had chosen a career that angered my father and triggered my mother’s death. Even when we were young, he really wanted to be an artist and musician. He was the one who taught me how to paint and play different musical instruments.

When he turned twenty-one years old, he was asked to take over our family business but was too stubborn. He turned down our parents’ wishes and continued to study.

One day, my father called me because I needed to take over his responsibility. My big brother gave up his rights as the first child to me. I was both shocked and happy when I heard about it. But I felt bad because I worry that he’ll get kicked out.

So I made a bargain with my father. Then, I told him that I will agree to his offer only if he will not get angry at my big brother anymore. My brother was overjoyed when he heard about the news. That started our good relationship as siblings.

Now that I am twenty-six and he is turning thirty next week, I am also worried about him enjoying his life. Diez is pleasuring himself with the career he has built. He needed to get married as soon as possible because I will not get married unless he marries someone else first.

I drove to the place that my father sent me. There I saw a woman sitting on a table, waiting for my arrival. I smiled at her and sat in front of her. She’s pretty in her orange dress.

“Sorry for making you wait, I’ll definitely make sure you spend the night pretty good. By the way, I’m Dos. Dos Lamier if you heard anything about me.” I said while keying on my phone.

I am texting Diez. I asked him where he is now. He said he’ll be here in a minute. Hoping he will be on time before I can get a good conversation with the woman in front.

She gracefully smiled before she spoke, “Hey, don’t bother introducing yourself. I know. And you’re just on time, I got here a little earlier than you. By the way, I am Fae Carmona Verrier. So you’re my date huh?”

“Of course I am not.” I smirked.

Her eyes widened and curiously looked at me. Oh right, where is that elder brother of mine?

“Sorry, I thought I drove to the wrong place little bro. Who are you with?” My big brother arrived right on time.

“I am with your blind date, man! Now, you can talk and get to know each other. I still have something else to do. Enjoy your date!” I swiftly got up from the chair and made him sit there.

“Wait! What? What the heck are you talking about? The old man said he set up a blind date for you, not that he told me anything about me having a date too.” Diez protested while I heartily laughed.

“Now, you have one.” I answered him and looked at the woman sitting on the other side of the table.

I winked at Fae and tapped my big brother’s shoulder. He still wanted to go but I held him down so he had no other choice but to smile awkwardly at Fae.

“You’re crazy, Dos. If I know this is one of your tricks to get away with your date, I would not have come here. I won’t give in to you next time.” I warned myself but I just smirked.

“There will be no next time, Diez. Because I assure you that this will be your last blind date and you’ll get married soon.” I retorted then immediately walked away from their dinner table.

This idea of getting blind dates and one-night stands are just for those who have reached their late twenties and still unmarried. Hope you can get along with your date.

That… I know my father instructed someone to put some drugs on the drinks. He’s a desperate lunatic now. Sorry man, I need someone to take over.

“Hey, Dad! I know you are too excited to have a grandkid, right? Now you do.” I texted my father.

“What are you trying to do again this time, Dos? Go talk to your date and don't ruin the fun.” My old man replied immediately.

“Just wait and see. I’m not trying to ruin the fun here, I am adding fuel to the fire.” I sent a cryptic reply to him before I turned my phone off.
